I have a serious personal problem with Toyota joining BMW. It isn't Toyota (I had a 1976 Corolla, a 1987 truck, got stolen in 2016, and I now have a 2002 Tacoma, my son a 2000 4Runner) I am a Toyota guy, but I had a BMW product that goddamn blew cylinder #3 with only 75K miles. The engine is toast. BMW is pure garbage, to me anyway. If I had a choice and the money I would not consider Honda, no way the Toyota/BMW abomination I would get this Corvette.

I haven't kept up with the Type R. It's been out since 2016, how is reliability? This Corvette is something special, first year models could be unicorn cars of the future. Hard to tell. Then again, like you said, if it has issues the model tanks and it's value is a fraction of new cost. Is this model Corvette going to stand next to the Ford GT? I think it will.
I would be shocked if any of the cars leave the showroom at 60K. It's a teaser price. They will probably range in the 70k and above. The models with more powerful engines will be well over the 100k mark. Still a bargain compared to a Ferrari.
If only GM put as much effort into everything else as they do the Corvette. They knocked this thing out of the park, and that's coming from a Ford guy.
This car will take off. People will have to get used to the new look, but after that, they'll flock to it. A mid-engine, supercar backed by Chevrolet and priced in the range that many will be able to afford.

The mid engine will be a nightmare to service, which is why they chose this design. Dealership's wet dream. It would be insane to get this car until 2022. Look at the wheel issues with the C7, that's a class action suit.

Whenever the Corvette is the focus of attention, the conversation is almost always about how the Vette kicks the European competition in the a$$ for a fraction of the cost. That means they are quality vehicles. Of course GM could vastly improve upon the car, especially the interior by including more luxurious materials. But doing that will alienate the true fans. As for Bugatti that's on the other end of the spectrum. Its price gouging, spending vast sums of money doesn't guarantee that the car is high quality.

Especially in the newer Corvettes, they are all relatively reliable and inexpensive to maintain and repair compared to European equivalents, and the surfaces and objects you touch when you drive the car are all made of great materials, that don't have you longing for more, given the performance you're getting. It's always a trade-off, GM aren't magicians that can give you everything at a low low price, but they play the trade-off game very very well, thus shipping a product that give consumers a lot of value per dollar.

It's garbage! $60? $25 @ most. Check out the Jaguar F Type(Arden AJ23) if you want to see a real nice car! Break Assist that calculates the angle of your turn and grabs to push the front around. Like a Skid or a Tank, pull the Right Break and you turn right. Now that's a nice fuck'n car!

Since you require all available power for takeoff, you need to put the move the levers to the most fwd position, closer to the firewall. Hence balls to the wall.
If it really sells for 60k get in line now - easily the nicest sports (super)car for under 100k. Now let's see if handling matchs looks. Love it so far.

I anticipate they won't depreciate THAT much simply because it's a supercar for $60-70k. You can't fall far with that kind of performance and great (for what it is) projected reliability. C7s should be an absolute steal after this is out though. Dirt cheap on those. The remaining new Stingrays should be out the door for under $40k new to make room for this. I do love the look of the C7, so my cheap ass would be looking there tbh.
I'm rooting for it, because I want a C7. If this is a hit, the C7 will drop in price and there will be many great used ones to pick from. Possibly many trade ins etc.

This is really a great moment for Corvette. The car is a really good looking, very functional, and an almost affordable super car(not base, probably will never see one of these). I liked the last Corvette but this one is better in every way, which is quite an achievement.
This new Corvette is NOT a supercar. Let's see how it does against an actual supercar like the Aston Martin Valkyrie or Valhalla or the Porsche 918 Spyder...there is a reason that true supercars cost 300,000 to 3.5 million dollars...state of the art engineering which Chevy can't accomplish.

Is it me or did you notice how the dash sweeps all the way down to the back of the console? Reminds me of the single seat conversions for the Bonneville Salt Flat racers. I could see easily removing the pass seat, adding nitrous bottles, fire suppression system and trying for a land speed record.

They were worth the money until now. If this is as comfortable as the 488 (the c7 wasn't for me, the rari is quite a bit more cushy), this is the ferrari replacer. More horsepower, faster 0-60, and lower price by a 100k margin.

Ok let's look at this the new C8 will keep up with the F8 Tributo to 60 and after that it gets left in the dust. On track it's not close and interior wise the Ferrari is premium and the Corvette is cheap in comparison. The Corvette is great performance to money spent but that's not everything Ferrari is about. We can talk when the Z06 or ZR1 comes out cause right now this will not beat a new Ferrari mid engine car at anything
C6, C7 then the mid-engine C8. Designer Tom Peters is a genius. I love the exhausts going back separated and yes, hard buttons rather than ipad on dash is satisfying.
495 HP is way more than enough for most people which never track the car. I personally prefer Grande Sport, better handling and better look, I am very happy with 495 HP. Cant wait to get one.

To quote Mark Ruess "Where else can you get a supercar that goes 0-60 in less than 3 seconds for this kind of money" Just before that he had announced that the car would start at less than 60k.

Have you ever heard of rampant quality issues or recalls when the conversation turns to Corvette? No, Absolutely not! Whenever the Corvette is the focus of attention, the conversation is almost always about how the Vette kicks the European competition in the a$$ for a fraction of the cost. That means they are quality vehicles. Of course GM could vastly improve upon the car, especially the interior by including more luxurious materials. But doing that will alienate the true fans. As for Bugatti that's on the other end of the spectrum. Its price gouging, spending vast sums of money doesn't guarantee that the car is high quality.

Especially in the newer Corvettes, they are all relatively reliable and inexpensive to maintain and repair compared to European equivalents, and the surfaces and objects you touch when you drive the car are all made of great materials, that don't have you longing for more, given the performance you're getting. It's always a trade-off, GM aren't magicians that can give you everything at a low low price, but they play the trade-off game very very well, thus shipping a product that give consumers a lot of value per dollar.

Base model will be 0-60 in the 4 second range. And will sound amazing with the V8 engine. Ferrari produced mid engine NA cars before it went all turbo. I never thought I would see another mid engine V8 car without turbos.

Since you require all available power for takeoff, you need to put the move the levers to the most fwd position, closer to the firewall. Hence balls to the wall.

I anticipate they won't depreciate THAT much simply because it's a supercar for $60-70k. You can't fall far with that kind of performance and great (for what it is) projected reliability.
C7s should be an absolute steal after this is out though. Dirt cheap on those. The remaining new Stingrays should be out the door for under $40k new to make room for this. I do love the look of the C7, so my cheap ass would be looking there tbh.

This is really a great moment for Corvette. The car is a really good looking, very functional, and an almost affordable super car(not base, probably will never see one of these). I liked the last Corvette but this one is better in every way, which is quite an achievement.

Is it me or did you notice how the dash sweeps all the way down to the back of the console? Reminds me of the single seat conversions for the Bonneville Salt Flat racers. I could see easily removing the pass seat, adding nitrous bottles, fire suppression system and trying for a land speed record.

We can talk when the Z06 or ZR1 comes out cause right now this will not beat a new Ferrari mid engine car at anything

C6, C7 then the mid-engine C8. Designer Tom Peters is a genius. I love the exhausts going back separated and yes, hard buttons rather than ipad on dash is satisfying.
495 HP is way more than enough for most people which never track the car. I personally prefer Grande Sport, better handling and better look, I am very happy with 495 HP. Cant wait to get one.

495 is more than enough even for track use. I drove a GT3 which puts down similar numbers to what they're claiming and imaging that performance for only 60k is insane.

To quote Mark Ruess "Where else can you get a supercar that goes 0-60 in less than 3 seconds for this kind of money" Just before that he had announced that the car would start at less than 60k.
