My favourite bass is an ibanez fanned fret. The 1st model they had. It is not the best bass. But it is a good modding bass. At the end nothing will stay the same, I guess. I also like squier basses. They are cheap as ... . And with used stuff very cheap to mod. I had a Dingwall but I sold it. The sounds of the After-Burner was great. But I am not so big like you. The 37 inches were a pain in the astronaut. I asked Sheldon of Dingwall to change the shape of the body but he said it is okay like it is. Perhaps I am going to build a custom fanned fret bass. But I am going to avoid Dingwall for my life. You should try a Wal-Bass. It could support your playing styles. And I like Status-Basses. They are solid and deliver. Very easy to find good sounds on a Status.

What an amazing collection of both conventional and exotic basses and all the ranges in-between. Also, I really appreciate how you didn't just do a walkthrough of your collection the way so many other YT videos do, where you just point at or pick up an instrument and show it to to camera and talk very briefly about it. You took the time to really introduce each and talk about why you like it and how you use it, and then demonstrate with actual music--many of which you composed yourself. This is a whole different level of commitment and effort and shows not only your talent and skill and experience as a bass player, but also your character as a person.

I use to own a peavey millennium bass and it sounded great. It’s got a percussive punchy tone and it sounds killer with distortion. I also thought about getting a Jackson bass myself. I do dig the spectra bass. I tried one out years ago and I thought it sounded awesome. Other than that, that’s quite a collection you got.

I still need to get my hands on a early 2000's PRS and a Les Paul Std Bass from 2004-2006 as I in my unfortunate needs at the time had to part way's with the ones I had. They were Gunner Nelsons and I really didn't want to get rid of them but you know life happens. I like the variety. Not a lot of fenders. Not all are ultra expensive. I miss a warwick or two in there as well as a g&L. We have the harley benton J kit in common. I upgraded mine to nordstrand jazz 60s PUs and went for a Robin's egg plus tortoiseshell pickguard finish. My next might well be that ibanez six string multiscale healdless

Excellent video & collection Nate! And a couple of things you said are spot on, I own a recording studio and have over 50 basses :) Yes I like to collect as well Lol. I have clients that come in with the high end custom basses as well, and let me tell you the basses that get recorded the most in my studio a lot of times are the Fender PBass, JBass and MusicMan. I even have clients come in with custom basses and decide to record with one of my Fenders. Don't miss understand the high end basses see a lot of work as well, it's just the Fender/Music man has a tried & true tone through out history as we all know. But on the flip side have so many basses because I like the option of picking a different tone, gives me flexibility and creativity. Not every song is made for a Fender tone, although we know that Fender will get the job done. Example I may feel a Ibanez tone is a better fit for a song etc. I just like having the option of picking a different tone. But sometime the record company prefers the tone of a FenderBass :) And your correct I also have low-end priced basses & guitars that are awesome in tone! I have a bass and guitar that cost me less then $400 each that get a lot of work. I have had the honor of being around some of the greatest guitar and bass players, it doenst matter if I put a $4000 axe in their hands or a $400 axe they are going to make it sound good on top of having an excellent engineer! For me it's all about cutting through and setting in the mix well :)
