Cool beans, you often find trail critters. They used to do helicopter tours so that might explain it, or yes possibly a SAR mission. Perhaps it was just a Park related mission. Thanks for sharing the neat experiences with us.

Oh, you should have gone the mile or so from Havasupai Gardens out to Plateau Point. Epic views of the edge down to the river below.
