- Is it time to renovate, repair, or replace the lawn and give up! As we come to the end of summer it's a good time to look back and see what our successes and our failures were throughout the season. Cool season grasses are coming back online really strong as the temperatures come down, and this is typically the time when people with fescue lawns tend to renovate and over seed.
I have a special guest with me today to talk about repairing turf, and a few other handy tidbits. I don't like to remind everybody that there's nothing you can't overcome in Lawncare. I'm going to show you what my lawn started out as the spring and where it is now, and just a couple of other little things that it needs in order to make it perfect.

When you patch a few spots and have irrigation, do you use your irrigation 2-3 times a day to keep those patched spots wet OR do you just keep regular irrigation schedule and hand water the patched spots?
The patch keeps the seed protected. I water on the regular schedule

Unfortunately the kgb/rye mix isn’t available in GA per HD site. Only stock TTTF, KBG or Rye as pure (ie no kbg/rye mix). I live in N GA and have a GCI fescue/kbg lawn. Would like to have the fast coverage of the rye for dog spots etc.

Yeah, I had pulled everything out so I could cleanup the lawn before filming and it didn’t make it back in!

At min 2:37 is that edging on your grass or a water pipe for irrigation?

An idea that I read elsewhere: use those compostable seed starters to start grass seed, useful as sod for patching areas that need it. Start grass seed before any patches need it so it is ready to go. Put the compostable container with soil and grass that has started to grow all together into places where a patch is needed.
