      Hey justa, If you have water still in there and you're trying to get it out, Press press and hold the start button for 3 to 5 seconds. Get it back into Normal mode and go to Drain and spin and get the water out. Once you've done, You go and hold the star button again for 3 to 5 seconds and put it back into testing mode. Then watch this video very carefully again and look for the problem of draining and spinning.. That's your code.. Remember the video doesn't tell you how to fix it.. But that's about all you can do right there, my friend, and then I guess you would have to call a service guy who can repair it..

    I've had my GE washer 3 weeks and it's dead with clothes in it. The lid won't open, no lights will come on, it's dead. I've watched 5 video's, read the manual, unplugged it, tried another plug, tried this video instruction, nothing works. This new washer is a piece of garbage.

    I’m a 69 year old grandma. You’ve got to be kidding, if you think I could remember or do any of these test. I just bought one of these and waiting for delivery. Just wish I could find an old Kenmore that doesn’t have computers, but this is progress???? Haha A good thing I bought a 5 year warranty on my machine. But thanks for your informative video. Maybe my grandson will figure all this out.

    GETW465 which appears to be the same as the one in the video is w/o a doubt the worst washing machine I've ever owned. Wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Unbelievably poor cleaning job; takes FOREVER; too finicky w/electronic mishaps; and like ALL HE machines, doesn't fill enough. I've never had to add extra water to my washing machines to cover - even barely - the clothes in there. Only thing comparable to this washing machine - and it would probably do a better job cleaning clothes - is to take them down to a creek and beat them on a rock.

    • @stacy-annmorgan6685
      @stacy-annmorgan6685 3 роки тому +20

      So wait this machine does not fill up. I got mine and thought something was wrong. I didn’t have a choice I was already waiting a month and half for my Maytag but it was going to come any time soon. Don’t these people know water is needed to wash clothes. Why have a big drum and no water. 😡

    • @jaylineff
      @jaylineff 3 роки тому +14

      @@stacy-annmorgan6685 It doesn't fill up enough to cover a full load of clothes/towels or sheets. I'm forced to either do smaller loads - and, consequently, more frequent washes or add an extra couple of gallons of water to larger loads. I keep 4 filled gallon jugs of water in the laundry room just for those occasions. Oh, despite the fact that it doesn't have an agitator like old machines do (and some current models, btw) and manufacturers keep telling you that "agitators will rip up or are too hard on your clothes", I find this machine tears my towels. How? Haven't a clue. But never had this problem w/any other washer.

    • @JanetSmith900
      @JanetSmith900 3 роки тому +7

      How do you know it doesn’t cover the clothes when the water doesn’t fill until the lid is closed and locked? Don’t get me wrong, I have this machine and I regret buying it and I’ve only had it for six months. (See my comment re: not being able to wash my bathrooms rugs.)

    • @jaylineff
      @jaylineff 3 роки тому +6

      @@JanetSmith900 Hi Carole. I start the machine w/the lid closed & wait a minute or two then lift the lid. Machine will continue filling (well, not really "filling" if you know what I mean). While water is coming in I put in my detergent, and/or bleach or whatever. Then wait till water stops coming into tub. Then I add my towels/clothes/sheets/whatever. Use large wooden spoon to arrange everything as evenly as possible. So I can see that most of the time water doesn't cover laundry as much as I like. I either have learned to do smaller & thus more frequent loads or have to add a couple of gallons extra water to cover load. So much for energy efficiency/saving water :(
      Lid only locks when washer is in spin cycle. As stated previously, I never use Precise Fill. Otherwise, I'd get even LESS water coming in. Ugh.
      Oh, and ditto on washing rugs/mats. I've had machines "dance" across the floor because they become unbalanced, but this one practically leaps & bounds. I can't leave it alone when I do mats, etc. And if you do certain blankets (like thermals) they soak up so much water, no matter if you put it on Extra Spin, they come out soaking wet & I have to put them through two dryer cycles to get them dry.
      Uh and didn't I mention it has no lint filter? Ever see the inside of that tub after you do rugs/mats? Yikes! It's filthy. Wiping it down afterward isn't good enough. I wouldn't think of putting clothes in there afterward so I have to put it through a complete short cycle of just water and washing soda. "HE" means Helluva lot of Extra work. And w/no lint filter, uh, where does all the towel lint go? Down the drain I assume. God I miss my old GE w/agitator and lint filter. :( :( :(

    • @larrysmith6071
      @larrysmith6071 2 роки тому +7

      bought the 465 also. Cuts off spontaneously after filling first time. Out of balance if you wash a fluffy kitchen towel. Bath mat? Ha!. Thermal blanket? Nah. Warranty ran out at 12 months. At 15months it stripped a belt and has oil showing on the lower belt housing. My wife loves a good fight, and called GE. They offered us a stripped down version (same machine less option and soak knobs) for $150. I'm saying no way, because I'm sure the machine is identical inside, with slightly simpler programmable controller. I fail to see how this would cure the lack of ability to drain and spin a reasonable load. My wife wants me to get the old one that I repaired and stored out of the storage building and put it back in. It would practically spin out a cement block. It had the drum base crack after 24 years and corrosion on the aluminum. Replaced it and the top trans seal and it's good as new. This new one isn't going to make it 5 years, even with me fixing things that shouldn't be wrong to begin with.

    people just want a washer that washes CLOTHES. Ge owners want to know how to increase water level program in large setting.. tell folks the trick.. i want my tub to fill up almost to the top! Not halfway or save water.. older washers was pressure switch screw adjustment. Now this electronic stuff no screw.. tell us how to change that most complaints!! Thank you..

    • @jaylineff
      @jaylineff 3 роки тому +4

      Put it on Deep Fill/Clean cycle ALWAYS. Never use Precise Fill. It's crap. Get even less water. Press Start. Machine will start filling. Open lid few minutes after it starts filling; add detergent, swish that around a bit & wait till it "fills"; add clothes, etc. Have to all that within 10-15 minutes of when it finishes filling otherwise it'll start to automatically drain.
      Then you've got two options for more water coverage:
      (1) Do smaller loads & sadly, that means more frequent washes or (2) Add a couple or three gallons extra water to cover. I do both depending on load size. Never, EVER, had to add extra water to a machine. Also, for a machine that "agitates" as slowly as this one and w/no sharp edges or points, it's ripping my towels to shreds. I think because it spins at millennium falcon warp speed.

    I wonder if this would help my issue. My washer is 3 years old and the same as shown. About six months ago it started only filling for a small load no matter what I had it set on, but the rinse water would be the right level. I have tried to get someone to fix it and I'm told that since it is a high efficiency washer the water level would be lower than a regular washer! No matter how many times I explained that it use to fill to different levels as set they will not listen! So could a reset help this problem?

    Actually the lights count up in binary, the number weights actually are as follows, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1, don’t know what the numbers 1 thru 6 in this video represent. I’m surprised in this age of computers that control every aspect of people’s daily lives how few people know these things. BTW, if you count the segments in the seven segment display there are seven, thus the name, seven segment display !

    • @slingeroftruth
      @slingeroftruth 2 роки тому

      Thanks, I was wondering how those lights were lit up for a certain number and how it got to 32. You'd think I'd remember my programming mainframe classes what those binary positions meant, but after assembler class, I was done with programming. Knew I should have taken than more expensive pc networking program over mainframe classes. I'm sure they still have some banks still using them. Basic, Fortran, Cobol, Assembler, then the new one back then C and C+. School closed down before I could finish the last C programming class, so no help in job placement and 7k gone. Stayed in construction, made but more money anyway, but long hours that steal your life as bad as ex's steal your money.

      @@marybrooks1314I'm not positive but I think it's as simple as unplugging for a minute or two then plugging back in.
      It might help to clear any codes first (check them if you haven't already!).
      To clear fault codes:
      1) while holding down the start button, turn main dial 7 clicks CCW. Release the start button.
      2) all the lights should be lit, indicating you are in diagnostics mode.
      3) turn the dial about 15 times to the right, or several to the left, until just the 'fill' light is lit, the second light in the string of 6.
      4) press start once. You have cleared the codes. To exit diagnostics mode, hold the start button for 3 seconds.
      5) now do the reset - unplug for a min and plug back in.

    Oh my goodness. This is THE BEST! We thought the problem was a faulty lid lock, but so many people posted comments on other sites saying they'd changed their lid lock mechanisms without resolution. Four of the six codes I got related to the lid lock, so we feel good about proceeding on our original hypothesis after capturing the codes and running the tests (and the lid lock and spin tests were the only tests that failed). Additionally, this video saved me an hour or more of scooping out standing water from the drum because I ran the test of the drain pump, which bypassed the lid lock interference and emptied the washer. It's a known defect with the washer. I think GE has a system to upgrade the washer so the software doesn't throw the clothes out of balance. The next time I get one of these washers in stock I'll try to document that fix and a few others

    This machine is an absolute piece of crap I'm an experienced Appliance Tech out here in Las Vegas and I have gone through the entire diagnostic cycle three times what's really funny is there are no error codes and each individual test works correctly however return the machine back to normal operating mode and it does absolutely nothing right I replace the board and the exact same thing you can do the individual test but put it back into normal cycles and it doesn't work at all and no it's not the lid switch which many techs may mistakenly believe is the problem although lid switches are always a problem on these new top load machines Unfortunately I've told the customer that he has to buy a new machine this machine is absolute junk I would never recommend these GE/Haier machine to anyone. As much as I love Ben's Appliance videos and I've watched many of them a lot of these new electronics in these new appliances are designed to fail. If you can't fix your GE washer or diagnosis using Ben's video chances are that it's a piece of junk.

      @@bensappliancesandjunk hi Ben just saw your text the unit will not start a cycle the correct LEDs will come on when you set the dial but when you hit the start button nothing happens and then the segment lights will just shut off this happens with both the old board and the new board yet I can do a complete diagnostic cycle with both boards also with a new board when I try to use the speed wash cycle which I usually use to diagnose this machine all I get is a quick Buzz not a beep a buzz when I hit the start button and the unit will not respond. After replacing the board with a new board part number ending in 35597 again I could run a complete set of diagnostic no error codes but when I returned to normal usage the machine will not operate. I actually put the Dial on cold water wash in the machine begin filling with hot water and then cold water at the same time hoses are connected correctly everything mechanical is working correctly. I can do drain I can do spin I can do agitate the mode shifters working lid switch is working. Individual filling with either hot or cold in diagnosis also works I've never seen anything like this this machine is an absolute piece of shit

    I cannot wash my bathroom rugs in this washer. I have a long bathroom rug and when I went to wash it I added two large beach towels to balance the load. I expected it to go out of balance, because rugs seem to do that. Once this happened and I got the washer stopped I tried to adjust the load and when I restarted, It remained out of balance. Nothing I did made a difference. I had my previous GE washer for 24 years and it was still working when I got a new set (because the dryer was going bad) and adjusting the load always fixed the problem. So I had to take the soaking rug out of the washer and start a wash over to get the towels cleaned, but then I had as soaked, still dirty rug. the so out of balance it actually worked the plug loose. Now I don’t know what to do to wash my bathroom rugs…in a month old washing machine. What a disappointing purchase.

      Tilt the washer back and look under the washer. On the left (facing the machine) side of the washer, on the inside, there should be a paper in a plastic bag attached to the side. This paper will give this information and others. Be sure to put it back when you are through, so the next person that works on it can find it.

      The home's water pressure/volume should have nothing to do with that issue - that is, as long as there is enough pressure to meet the minimum requirements of the machine, and I'd be very surprised if there wasn't. The washer has a sensor that cuts the water on and off based on the depth of the water, and it doesn't care how long it takes to get there.

    Okay the down fall of the ge washer with a board and the good points , I took off the lid fairly simple then blocked off drum from falling forward with zip tie and a piece of door sill trim board I had handy . Now this he wasker doesn’t use drum belt like old washers from many manufacturers , it is suspended on 4 hanging rods from the corners . Now I just ran this unit and it stopped on wash cycle after I replace the door switch that had a little white and green corrosion on one of the three connectors on the drum switch , deoxit with Caig needle dropper and put dielectric grease on the plug side wire reinstalled . Now put a towel in it to wash small load selected and warm cause I was using the one lead y to the washer for eventually I’ll use in the shop . Next cleared it unplug and start a new wash . It would not fill if I had drain pipe laying on ground don’t know why it does this . Then went back to check on it and wash light on and humming . Now with electric boasted and back ground cable in hooked , map sensor white hose unhooked and pull electric plug out of slot of the lid take grains off the lid unde the cover yellow green is its wire color , all this done with washer unplugged . Tipped on its front side and saw pump it was hot remove drain hose and spin tvhe pump propeller with hole in finger and seemed tight took pump off unhook wire and wire loom clip to drum ,pump had sand and little paper and dog hair we have three dogs one a husky and we live near beach that two problems , next noticed dog hair all over the drum drive belt cover And some more dog hair inside the cover and the drive belt was wore on side and I don’t know why it was oily . It’s a small belt 7-10 “ span from motor to the drum pulley . So order the parts be,t not in stock at ge and the pump number on the ge site said it was upgraded part number did match up on Amazon picked recommended part Amazon on pump and belt with correct part number actually is a ge part . Put back together for practice cause it will be a week to ge the parts

    Anyone want to start a class-action lawsuit? I have never had such a POS machine like this one. Today, mine washed the clothes, then filled up for the Deep Rinse. Once full, it immediately drained all the water and shut off. I tried clearing the codes but it's in permanent fill-then-immediately-drain-it-out mode. I inherited this joke from my late mother. It sat in her empty house after she died for a couple of years after only being used a few times. It was essentially new. Our existing machine was old, so I stupidly replaced it with this Chinese made trash. What a mistake. Whoever owns the GE appliance brand should be sued, truly. This machine is 100% unreliable. The videos on UA-cam for these newer HE machines are very helpful...even the top ranked LG has the same lazy agitation (with a wimp impeller instead of a true agitator). WHEN did all the manufacturers decide all we were entitled to was the delicate cycle speed???? Also, like everyone else here, big tub, very little water.
    After some research, I'm going to dump this hunka' garbage and replace it with the Maytag 3.5 cu. ft. 'commercial grade' model with the dual action agitator. I've come to the conclusion that HE washers are NOT clothes "washers" (yeah, right), they're clothes "fresheners".

    • @bensappliancesandjunk
      @bensappliancesandjunk  2 роки тому +1

      Government mandates killed off the non-HE washer in 2009. All washers are HE. Some just have modes to bypass it. Manufacturers had no real easy choice, and are mostly still struggling with the regulations. When you get a commercial washer, a real one, they have different codes that tend to be more lenient than residential units.

    Please help!! Had this washer for 3 1/2 years, wash cold water mostly, 5-6 mo ago started getting brown flakes on clothes,when going to put in dryer. I literally had to pick them off. I don’t use fabric softener. I use liquid tide for HE washer. Got new in 2019. I have read the top loaders HE ( not brand specific like LG,GE,) . I have a stainless steel tub with agitator column goes one direction and bottom agitator more flat goes other direction and there is another tub that is outside of the stainless steel . I never had a problem. NO SMELL, NO RUST. These flakes some big some small but have to pick off. From what I have found out could be build up of soap? I live in AZ, and hard water with Calcium,Magnesium. The tide helps break down the hard water to clean clothes. I have tried cleaning with highest load of water in empty washer with 1 cup bleach HOT water,soaked for 3 hours. Didn’t work. Then 1 cup vinegar same size and HOT water,soak 3 hours. Didn’t work. Then 1c. Lemon Juice same size HOT water soak 3 hours. Next just tried Washing Machine Cleaner Tablet off Amazon…same largest Load,HOT water just let run through cycle but used longest cycle. Here I am…still brown flakes on clothes…a bit smaller and maybe not as many but time consuming to pick off. 2 nd load next day….same as before!!! I even stopped using the dryer sheet. The tide has no oxygen in it or chlorine bleach. I always leave the lid up to air dry all the time. NO MUSTY SMELL!!
    Why does anyone know has this only started after 3 1/2 years when I have not changed anything, except started using 1/4 c. Vinegar to help brighten clothes , this year. We are now going to try remove the top agitator , to get to the lower agitator, and undo the bolt in center to see if the back side of the bottom agitator has brown gunk on it. I have read of many others having this same problem and say it is only for those who have the HE top loader. Supposedly it is a design flaw ( maybe the tub inside of another tub) I have new house in 2019, bought this washer GE and dryer, can adjust the water load far left low,medium,high,Max,Precise Fill last one have never used. We are over 65 and clothes are not that dirty. I only do a few loads a week. When doing all the cycles with machine cleaner,bleach,vinegar,lemon juice, looked in the tub on all to see if water had brown flakes in it….none of all these ever had one brown flake in it. Hubby is helping get brown flakes off now….I am not even sure the brown flakes or brown stuff is under the bottom agitator, maybe it is in the second tub that the stainless steel one sits in?? Why did it take 3 1/2 years for this to happen. It does not make any sense!!! I do not know of anyone having this same problem. I had a 12 year washer before lived 5 miles from where I moved 2019 was not a HE washer never had a problem like this ever and have lived here for 43 years in AZ. Please help it is driving me crazy…..thanks for reading…..

    Doesn't work for the GTW331BMR0W which is basically the same one he is doing it on. Tried a few times and nothing.

    If your washer fills with water and won’t agitate or spin, it’s most likely the belt to the motor or motor speed sensor. You can find it by tilting your washer, and looking under it. Take off the black cover to access it

    I have the same exact washing machine that is seen here and recently it has started tripping the breaker only during spin cycle whether the dryer is running simultaneously or not as they share the same 20 amp circuit. I just saw the presentation of the fault codes and really didn’t see anything specific for the spin cycle…any ideas?

    Fill with water. Did not wash. Draining. Act like it's washing with no water. For about 5 minutes. At no time is the lid locked light in. Done. Please help.
