I got Error Code 16. Been trying to test everything that the manual says, The unit seems to drain normally, the water valves both work when testing them in diagnostic mode, and the pressure tube isn't kinked and no trapped water. I have no idea where the Pressure Chamber Port is, to see if it's free from obstruction. Any pointers is appreciated.
Hi, enjoy this video and learned something. My GE does not want to fill and when it does its just not to the lowest fill on the washer. I would prep to wash and sometimes have to use a hose to fill the washer.
Oh boy, I have an old GE top loading washer. My son's girlfriend was coming over to do her laundry, she pushed the start button with such force it got jammed inside. My ex cut the rubber cover and removed it , then for the last 6 months I was using the eraser end of a #2 pencil to start the wash. It worked like a charm (for me) but again someone else tried and then the inner portion inside the control panel the entire little chip start button on the panel snapped off as well inside. I have no money right now to replace my machine, still now I will need at the very least to order a new control panel as well as the Grey outer button cover. My question is, is there a way, without having that start button chip, to hard wire the start mechanism to start simply when plugging in the power cord ?
@@DuctTapeMechanic But be careful. I got suckered by a fake agitator, but impeller. The new machines and HE soap don't have enough, if any surfactants to get clothes clean. If you can take a shirt out of a washer that has finished it's cyclel, put the "clean" shirt into a basin of slightly warm water with plain old tide or some normal detergent NOT HE, and the water becomes dirty, the machine is a con job.
Is it normal for my older model (purchased new from Lowe’s last month) to have water at the bottom not inside drum. I can hear it when I move the drum around. It is not draining properly. Will this help? TIA
Super cool right to the point . From what you described about 2 inlet valves instead of hot like I usually wash I put it on cool and its washing the clothes . I'll go get the part . And watch your video again thanks
I just replace the control board in mine after it displayed multiple faults. Repain guy also said it was the control board. Here’s hoping that is the only thing I need to do.
These machines with the digital readouts are the ones having the problems. GE used to be among the most reliable washing machines, but not now with these computerized controls. Buyer beware when companies produce a product like this that is supposed to help you figure out what specific problem you're having. One of my customers has a two year old Samsung front loader, and the issue is the main computer, a costly repair. Even if you get an error code, it's a crap shoot if as to whether for instance, you have a bad lid lock, or a bad computer. I liked it better when we had analog dials, same goes for TV's and radios. You always knew what channel you were watching, and had dials you could read. The other issue is that so many of the electronic controls like remotes are all black. You have to carry a flashlight around with you.
I suppose its Energy Star. Ive heard that these are part of the "smart meter" system. They will be tracking all appliances energy use if they are a part of this system. Id remove the smart meter on your home if you have one. Mine is the agitator type but still has the lid lock. Id like to disconnect that. Also if my lid is open when the barrel reaches full, it will drain the entire barrel. Who invented such a thing and why?
There is no way to bypass the lid lock mechanism on newer washers it was possible on older machines. It's a safety mechanism (i.e. prevents the company from being sued if someone sticks there are in a moving washer)
@@DuctTapeMechanic Mine isn't exactly new. 2015 we purchased. They weren't making them anymore and wanted to get rid of it. Got a deal. Very basic machine. No bells and whistles. I'm surprised it has the lid lock.

I really hate my GE washer. It bothers all the time. Hopefully this will work.
Thats a great video
Next time could you show a full test a diagnostic of the failed part?

Any tips?
God Bless you and your family your videos have help me so much 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤ Thanks
Your welcome! I appreciate the kind words.

Can I perform the tests in the service mode if the washer is full? I see a couple of the tests specifically say to have an empty basket
I have this exact model. Hope I can figure it out
Thanks for the video, do you know what brand is good for a washer just for the future.
If I had to buy a new washer, I would get the cheapest top load whirlpool washer that has an agitator

Soak cycle soak for 30 minutes on every normal wash . Can I cancel the soak wash on the normal wash cycle
Any idea why mine is throwing 6 codes?

K good 9jk9i9 see how j see 9 Jim i9j
Thank you it worked. But after my wash is finished and clothes in dryer there is water dripping into the tub, i have to turn off the taps
Sounds like you have leaky water inlet valves in the washer.

What does the drive system look like? What's inside the GE washer transmissions?
Mine has an error of Leak Defected displayed
what does is mean if the "error code" lights don't match?
Hello! I put a new mode shifter in a machine like this
I used2 times & works fine but the next day gives me the same problem!
any suggestions?
I would rerun the mode shifter and try to get another. Sounds like you got a faulty one.
The most obvious error code is that this washer has a GE logo. Ha! I can say that because I have this exact model.
Well said!

What do you do if the sensefill light is on and the machine won’t turn off?
He he washer and dryer combo shows a lock simple when trying to turn the knob to select a setting it won’t
