Description of three classifications of anemia, and an explanation of the pathophysiology of iron deficiency anemia. To be continued . . .
I'm a nursing student, and I like to reference youtube to augment my studies. Sometimes I come across USMLE instructors and medical school preparation teachings. I assumed this was posted by a physician because it details the chemistry and biology behind the disease, which I thoroughly appreciate in order to logically understand concepts without just memorization of signs and symptoms. I am happy and inspired to know you're a nurse practitioner! :-)
Thank you very much!! This was way more helpful than attending classes.
Thanks for the kind words!
I am an ANP student. Thank you so much for your videos. I watch these after the lectures for full clarification of what we learned because I never understand what the teacher says in class.
I'm also an ANP student, and I do the exact same thing as Ali. These videos make the information so much easier to understand.
Nicole Lara Same here :)

Glad you found it helpful!
Amazing videos!!! I have seen several of your videos several in my patho class which my teacher openly admits that she (a DNP provider that is a FNP educator) couldn't say it better herself. Thank you so much for your very clear and informative productions.
Mr. Wolf, I am an FNP student and I am often overwhelmed at the amount of information I am learning in my program. Because of this, I often refer to your videos to help me absorb all that I am learning. All too often, your detailed, yet simplistic, lessons are incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for the time and energy that you spend affording countless of us the privilege of your teachings.
Glad you found it helpful!
I'm ill. i thought i had Anaemia. so did my mum. I didn't want to go to the doctors because I was scared of being told I was ill. we ended up going and I found out I had some sort of anemia. they thought it was iron deficiency so they put me on iron and folic acid! a few months later I found out that I either have/had/possibility to have H.pylori infection. I was on a 1 week course of antibiotics (11 a day) and I have to go back to my nearest hospital in August to see how things are going, fingers crossed I'm better!
I had it really bad at one point where i struggled to even walk & i'm a active person...the dr prescribed me some iron tabs alongside vitamin d. I was able to walk after 2-3 weeks of taking medication. I'm still on the iron tablets(ferritin) 6 months into it but still do feel weak on some days. It's frustrating cus it limits your activity.
Thank you for sharing your video, I am a FNP student and it was very helpful and reinforce my reading and understanding.
Thank you for the positive words!

Thank you so much
while going through books i found that in iron deficiency anemia predominance of small polychromatophilic normoblasts found in an excess amount........why just polychromatophilic normoblasts why not basophilic erythroblasts or other cells of erythropoiesys lineage are in excess??????
good but some of the points need more clarification
Yes.
Hb= Globulin + Heme
Globulin= 2 alpha units + 2 beta units
Heme= Fe + Protopophyrin
therefore…
Hb = (2 alpha + 2 beta) + (Fe + Protoporphyrin)
I WOULD SHARE YOUR VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEOS WITH MY FACE BOOK FRIENDS
thank you so much ,i realy got benefit from this vedio
Glad you found it helpful!
Thanks doctor
Thanks for watching KimAnh. We appreciate it :)
Help! im really scared for my mom, all week she has been week and drained and everytime I asked she said she had an iron deficiency. then on Wednesday she got an iron diffusion and felt a bit better. I found out yesterday that she had been bleeding WAY too much from her periods, and it was getting serious. Today she went to the hospital just to have some "simple" test done to see what kind of surgery she needs for her anemia. My mom described as a simple, extremely safe surgery where they just locate the internal bleeding, fix it, and give my mom iron injections to help her. However, when I got home she was already at the hospital and my dad called saying she needed to stay overnight because she had a fever after the test... My sister keeps telling me shes fine... but im not so sure that's the whole story. Look, all I want to know is Whether This kind of Anemia and the way her condition sounds is okay? I mean shes gonna be okay? Like.. unless she takes a HUGE HUGE turn for the worse, theres no POSSIBLE way this could actually KILL her?? I just really hope she comes home tomorrow..
Hope she's doing okay now. But I read that if the person take care of themselves they with be fine. I see this comment is from two months ago, How is she so far ?
Question, when you mention the myeloid line being revved up (increase RBC and PLT), doesn't the myeloid also include granulocytes as well? If so, will that cause an increase in WBC?
Thanks so much for your inquiry. We have passed this question on to our medical review team. Thanks again for watching!

During pregnancy it is common to have anemia because of the lack of Iron stores, What I am confused about is this because you have an increase in Plasma and a decrease in red blood cells? Or is it only a relation to the decrease of Iron availability in the blood?
Thanks so much for your inquiry. We have passed this question on to our medical review team. Thanks again for watching!
I'm confused. How can erythropoietin cause thrombocytosis?Doesn't thrombopoietin induce thrombopoiesis?
Thanks so much for your inquiry. We have passed this question on to our medical review team. Thanks again for watching!
