  • This is an easy guide on how to install a bow mount trolling motor on your boat. The motor I have is a MinnKota EDGE 45. I used a factory quick-detach plate.

      Thanks man. I’ve really enjoyed the boat too. If you’re in the market for one, hopefully it helps you make your decision.

    I liked it in every catagory!!! Power is super, I hav a mariner4 & got the kayak version, even with two people & gear it performed well in a 9mph headwind with 6 inch chop!!! Battery life was all day good. (I went with a 75ah batt)

    Loved the vid, super informative where I needed it. Any downsides to the quick release over the years yet? Didn’t know it was a thing and just removed my trolling motor to rebuild and make the blind fit on my 15 tracker sportsman but would prefer a easy swap for fishing

      Yeah, the quick release has held up really well. To me, it’s completely worth it.

    Did the plate to access under the bow originally have screws on it? I've got a grizzly 1754 sc and I think mine has rivets.

    • @BadAtHunting
      @BadAtHunting  2 роки тому

      I think mine came with screws, but I’m not positive. In either case, all the panels have screws now.

    • @BadAtHunting
      @BadAtHunting  2 роки тому

      Actually now that I think of it. It did have rivets, but I drilled them out and put screws.

    Do you recommend that mounting plate? I took my old motor guide off and it had 2 seperate braces underneath for the bolts on each side of the trolling motor. I have the edge as well but I can't hold the bracket underneath and hold the the top plate down and put on washers and lock nuts at the same time..STUGGLE IS REAL

    How did you extend the wires on your motow to reach your batteries?

    • @BadAtHunting
      @BadAtHunting  Рік тому

      I installed an outlet on the deck of the boat that the trolling motor is plugged into. The outlet has heavy gauge wires that connect to the battery which is located in a compartment below deck. This is only a 12v system, so it only needs to pull power from one source.
      Did I answer that right?

    Can you give me a link to the canopy your standing in? Thanks

    • @BadAtHunting
      @BadAtHunting  2 роки тому +1

      I bought it at Home Depot. I’m not sure what the link would be, but I’m confident you could easily search it. I did have to buy the wall sections separately - but they were made by the same company and should be easy to find. I spent around $180 for the cover and $120 for the walls.

    What size wire did you run for the power?

    • @BadAtHunting
      @BadAtHunting  2 роки тому

      Unfortunately I’m not sure. This boat was already equipped with the wires/fuse. They have wiring harnesses available to purchase for this specific application.

    • @BadAtHunting
      @BadAtHunting  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, for the quick detach plate its 19”L x 6”W. For the baseplate on the trolling motor itself, its 25”L x 6”W. Hope that helps.

    • @BadAtHunting
      @BadAtHunting  Рік тому +1

      Oh yeah. It still works great. It pushes my boat around just fine, even in the wind. The only thing that would be nice, is if it had SpotLock - but that’s an extra $1k. :)
