It’s crazy how this boat has been around almost 600 years and it still looking this good!
Agreed
Who brought it here before the mayflower??
@@bassman6211 I did
@@gavannnnn521 impressive. 😆
@@bassman6211 Most impressive
Great kit that I did not know existed. The video editing was outstanding too. Not a minute of unnecessary rambling. Clearly Narrated every step of the process. Outstanding video ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
dude ive been subbed for a while and im impressed by how much you have progressed throughout the years.. your really talented man keep it up..
I am so impressed, you guys are RockStars!
That was an excellent video explaining the process of a basic build from start to finish! Well done, this information is very much appreciated for my upcoming build! 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would not have compromised on drilling the wire holes the just fit. I would have drilled them larger right away and ran the grommets. Not because it looks nicer, but to prevent chaffing of the wire insulation, prevent arcing and potential fire. Still though I like this build a lot.
I was thinking the same thing. Those holes will cut through the insulators pretty quick.
That full kit is the way to go!
Great video can't wait to start my tiny boat build
I love the simplicity of the build and its finished look. No outlandish fluff, built to last more than 3 summers, but has everything you'd need to really enjoy it over the life of it.
Great job 👏 👍
You’re pretty much nailed it! That is everything we hoped to achieve in the kit.
Absolutely obsessed with this build. Definitely going to have to give this a try!
You should!
I own a 12 foot Deep Lake Jon Boat and took the back seat and middle seat out plugging the holes left in the hull with rivets. The side live well came built in the boat when I bought it. Used wood strip backing underneath and put plywood in the front and back floor and attached a pedestal and seat to sit on. The plywood squares can lift out of the boat. Simple pond hopper bass fishing boat. With a built in live well from the original boat design. This reduces weight so l can pull it over from pit to pit or farm pond and fish in comfort. Using a simple battery powered trolling motor. And aluminum shaft oars as a fail safe back up plan to move the boat in the water. Primitive but effective.
Real clean install guys. Awesome job. Ya got me thinking about a kit for mine!
They're in stock!
Amazing work
Excellent job fellas this is the one I’ve been looking to see. Thanks for all you do. Keep up the great work.
Appreciate it!
That’s a great setup 👌🏾
Fantastic Work Gentleman 👍🏻
Thank you, sir!
Wow that turned out awesome!
Thanks! You can do it as well.
Badass little setup
Awesome craftsmanship!
Thank you!
Cracking job boys ❤
When is the “2 fat guys in this boat stability test “ video coming out?
The aluminum john boat is the best underated Backcountry Tiller Micro Skiff, Flip Palot of Hells Bay Boats used it as the standard by which all backcountry skiffs are judged...
Great video fellows enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it
Exactly like my boat guys, planning to build that
How have I not seen that you guys have a place in GA?! I grew up in Conyers, less then 20 mins from Oxford, GA. I'll be seeing you very soon about my 1436 !
Stop on by!
looks cool
Men, curious if you happen to know or a "guesstimate" of entire weight of modification? Thanks for giving of your time and expertise. Blessings!
Hey I was curious if you had any openings on the 1040 boats vs the 1236. Thanks!
Damn that turned out awesome. Thanks to Ryan and Chris for letting the Christmas help have a little hand in the build. Ryan only yelled at me twice 😂
I'm sorry, I know I have commented on this video way too many times but damn I wish yall split this up into 2 vids, framing and wiring, then another video, decking and finishing. I'm going to be putting the 090 sheet aluminum on my deck this weekend. I think its one of those things that make more sense once you get into it. Also, do you all run 2 batteries in this build? One for the trolling motor and one for all the other accessories? Where did you mount the circuit breaker for the trolling motor? I'm using 6 gauge wire for my trolling motor since the battery is all the way in the back of the boat to connect to the front mount trolling motor. I will probably order of of those trolling motor mounts soon! Thanks for all the help with this project! You guys are awesome at what yall do!
I have seen many of the self made remodeled boats of the
so-called Jon boats, it would be nice if I could find the company that makes the longest jon boat , and still yet take it and remodel it with a electric battery system
Great video! I just wish we could've gotten a little walk-around of the finished product!
Coming
I got a Lowe 1436 that I would like to do something like this. It has wiring, bilge pump , lights. Just want to redo the floors and get a casting deck. Wonder how much they would charge to do that. I work 5 12 hour shifts so got time to fish just hard to find time for a project like this. I’m close to Rome Georgia and Oxford is around 1 hour and 45 mins so not to far.
The redbull and the frogs outside is a vibe lol
how much eva foam flooring did you buy? looking at getting some for mine dont know how much i will need. I have a 14ft alumnacraft
That's real cool
I have a 2014 tracker 14ft boat. I was wondering. If I removed the center seat would I risk weakon the structure.
I need this on my jon boat
That back area of my 2014 Subaru Forester is not flush either. I finally built a leveling platform our of some 2x4s and plywood, padded and carpeted it. Now I sleep like a baby.
Nice!
How much weight does the kit add?
Thanks
I got boat fever........................................I got the fever bad
Nice!
Thanks!q
What size motor was on the boat in the video?
Great build! Where's the bass seats?
It’s too small lol
I need some send-it jon boat videos. But good build
Tell that slacker Chris to get on it!
I tell him the same all the time. But in his defense he has a lot going on right now. I just want a sticker at this point 😂
How much aluminum sticks/angling.sheets did you have left over? Enough to make a duplicate of the control panel on the opposite side?
I’m not exactly sure, but not a whole lot was left over
Any links on the back hatch by the transom? Or is that a custom order? I haven’t been able to see the 3 sided hatches on the site.
Hey man! It’s called a rear facing hatch when you look in the drop-down menu
how much if I bought a brand new jon boat and had something done like this vs buying a tracker or something rdy to go off the lot?
Did you guys draw out some kind of floor/deck plan for this boat before starting? Are there any other videos or pictures of this boat, particuarly the front deck framing and back hatch framing? I'm looking to do this exact thing to my 1436 but I want as much info as possible before I order anything.
All Jimbo are slightly different so there’s no set plan. This video is what we have to show people while we can talk you through things if you need and there’s also a Facebook community to help you out among other things but there’s no specific specs.
Ok I subscribed
The counter sink rivets you guys use are 3/16" right? Does that mean the countersink bit you use is also 3/16" as well? I know the hole to drill would be 3/16" but want to make sure about the countersink bit you use for these. Thank you !
Yes. Harbor freight sells a set of three. There are three different sizes in the middle size fits a 316 inch counter sink rivet perfectly.
Do you think you would need support under a 3/4 inch piece of plywood for a casting deck?
You would need a lot less. You would need one or two in there somewhere just for frame support.
I would like to see you guys to build a crappie/ catfish fishing boat out a tracker grizzly 1448 mod v.
We did. It’s coming
How much weight does that kind of framing/flooring and wiring add to the boat? Excluding motor, batteries and sonars.
Not very much at all. 70 - 100lbs
Now what size drill bits you using and whats a good standard size rivet to use in this type of build?
3/16”
This looks achievable. How do you charge your batteries if you're on an E-propulsion? This is exactly what I want to build my dad.
You can buy an onboard charger and just run an extension cord to the onboard charger. Super simple way to avoid taking the batteries out of the boat every time you need to charge them!
you guys have serious talent.
Thanks!
Hey guys, I have another question if you dont mind. Thanks for all of your insight so far. I want to build this front deck from the weekend warrior YT video. I have a bunch of 1" angle aluminum from a job I worked over a year ago, its 1/16" thick. Would it be safe to build this frame with 1" angle or should I just bite the bullet and get some 1.5"? I want to do it right.
We prefer 1.5, but you could use one
I want to see the stability of the boat because I have one and the stability sucks anyways.
how do you guys know where to screw in the trolling motor mount if your going on top of the hydro-turf?
Just have a pre-planned area that you know is meant for fastening
woould have been nice to see the lights working
We have follow up on it
sick
whats that counter sink bit called for the rivets
Counter sink/deburring bit
How fast do those electric outboards get a boat like that going?
6+mph on mine. It’s likely similar for the other. The 3-6.0 motors will plane a boat with the right setup.
So it’s a 2 1/2 to 3 weekend build, as 2 people were building at the same time and one joined in for about half the time or more.
Wish we could see the lights, inside the hatches, etc. Need a walk through completed video please! Looks great otherwise! Thanks guys
Where did you get the aluminum transom replacement?
TBNation.net. Search “aluminum transom”
tbnation.net/products/transom-replacement-quick-complete-kit
I'm sure this is a pain, but is there any way you could build a tool list for everything you'd need to instal this kit?
see 1:42
Hey guys where did you get the green led lights?
Hey Stephen, I believe they were off Amazon. They have tons of options.
I bought the Amazon foam roll and it delaminated on the first trip. I went with gray and towed in 100 degree heat. The forward corners got hot and started
Lifting. I lost quite a few pieces. The glue was left behind. It’s there a glue that works best to
Anchor the lifted edges? I’m pretty bummed.
You can use contact cement and it will bond it right back together
Is it possible to just buy a boat that’s already built from you? I definitely don’t trust myself to do this properly lol
Is that hard labor creek?
Yeah
How thick is the aluminum framing?
1/16"
that intro literally just blew my speaker bro. two words man... AUDIO CONTROL!!!! now my laptop is F'ed up :(
The audio is all -3db.
I had no problem.. maybe yours is too high 😅
how much would it cost to have you guys do it?
Please contact our shops. Contact info is in the description
How thick of sheet aluminum are you guys using?
.090
@@TinyBoatNation thank you so much I I’m thinking about buying the framing kit for my Jon boat
putting the batteries in the stern is a bad idea. i have a 1236, when i run with 1 battery in the stern my bow is ass high in the air. any wind will catch the bow. an throw me into a spin turn, turning me 180 degrees. recommend moving the batteries to the bow too balance out the weight carried. 2 batts at 65 lb each vs my 250 in the stern.
Do you have sears v bottom kits
We are making one
I'm in Athens, Ga.
Stop by and see us!
I want to put the decking on the bottom of my Saturn 18ft SIB.
We have kids in material on our website for that. tbnation.net.
does this kit come with instructions??
It comes with a video and we also help you with the process if you have any questions. We can’t make instructions for any boat, because no one boat is the same.
What should the distance be between rivets ?
4-6”
we see them snap on pliers, talking about a budget build xD
😂
Hey I’m thinking about buying for my boat can you put seats on in
Yes, just add pedestal mounts
do you make this for a 16' jon boat?
Yes. It’s called the 1648 weekend warrior kit.
No foam? lol. I know. I know.
i have a 10 foot jon boat do they make kits for those?
No, but a lot of the kits cross over. I wouldn’t convert a 10 foot boat unless it’s a 1040.
@@TinyBoatNation thank you
Do yall have q kit for a 16ft john boat
Yes
@@TinyBoatNation do I just go on your website and call yall up to order everything I need
I would love to get you to upgrade my boat
Talk to our Georgia location! It’s in the description
How much would it cost me for y’all team to do me this build?
You would have to contact them directly. Contact information is in the description.
Is there a place here in Illinois?
It's in the description of the video
Yes, the contact info and address is listed in the description of this video. Click to expand.
You are in the world of the almighty Nate Eckhold
whAT KIT IS FOR THE 15FT?
There should be an option in the listing for a 1542 John boat. There should be an item in the shop for it underneath the video or in the description pinned in the comments.
14x36 ? We refer to those as gator feeders. 14x48 is a lot more stable boat
Guys, after watching this entire video, why don’t you just sell your own boats? A little 1436 jon like this could go for like $8 grand? I haven’t looked at the price of the kit, but you gotta mark up all this at least double what it costs. Wow
Mark it up double? wow you're dumb
Step one have a auto body shop 😂😂
Lmao
How much this project cost ?
It’s on our website. Search: weekend warrior kit
Too bad. I didn't see anything with a battery maintainer/charger connection, etc. That black rubber mat is going to make it hot in the sun. OTHER than thay, I like it. Thanks!
GOD I wish I lived in the US.
Nahh, you really don’t.
Isn’t Romex not a good idea?
Romex is not in the boat
