    Angustora is a great camping spot. Well, the Black Hills in general is awesome. So glad you could enjoy our neck of the woods. The Hot Springs VA has always treated me good and my wife was a mental health and substance abuse counselor there.

      Thank you for your service! We love the Black Hills, and this was our first time anywhere really south of Wind Cave. We truly enjoyed our time in the Hot Springs area.

    It appears you enjoyed our Hot Springs neighborhood. Sorry about the very necessary road construction, but it was too long overdue. The drainage and sewer systems are being replaced in the process. "Y'all come back now, you hear."

    Owchiwawa. That had to suck to die a slow death at the bottom of the sinkhole unable to climb out. That must be a paleontologist's paradise over there to dig them out. Finding one is a huge deal. Finding 65 is a find of a lifetime.

    We stayed there last year and loved it.
    There was construction in Hot Springs when we went.
    But we were really there for Wind Cave
    We missed out on the lake view.
    Oh, we missed Cascade Falls 😞
    And I wanted to see the Mammoths, but we ran out of time
    You make an awesome guide. You saw so much more than we did and we stayed at the same campground 😁

    • @GrandAdventure

      Part of that may be because we stay in each place one week at a time, although certainly my 8-5 job does its best to interfere with sightseeing.

    Many an ideal spot has been marred by those goat head burrs!! Great video, this area looks worthy of exploring!!👍😊

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  11 місяців тому +1

      Thanks MTL! We're finding goat heads here in NW Oklahoma where we are presently, too. I can barely walk Zoe through the mowed grassy areas without her picking one up in her paws every 25 feet or so. However, this spot is so beautiful (and surprising to us, for Oklahoma) that even goat heads have done little to interrupt our enjoyment.

    Never had a clue there was a Hot Springs that wasn't in Arkansas. Thanks for introducing me to another one, albeit in SD. But I did spend a few pleasant, fun days in Sioux Fall SD. In all seriousness, I too often pass through places like this without taking the time to pull off the road and explore local areas. Your videos are telling me that I should take the time and get more familiar with regions of the country that aren't major tourist draws.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  11 місяців тому +1

      That's interesting feedback, John. We often shoot for the road less traveled because that's what we prefer, even though I suspect that takes its toll in our viewership as many potential viewers won't click through to watch something about a place they've never heard of. But we'll just keep on doing what we'd rather do, regardless.

    I was just in Hot Springs as well. Too bad the construction really made downtown off limits, and navigating through town was tight. I never knew about that reservoir south of town. My time there was about hiking among the buffalo and prairie dogs in Wind Cave NP, scouting the Centennial Trail, and dispersed camping in Black Hills NF. As a remote worker, I spent a couple days at the public library using their wi-fi, a great public amenity. I know I missed some of the popular attractions, but I’ll likely be back someday.

    We enjoyed this area.
    The Mammoth site was very interesting. We were there at the end of the day and we were able to talk to one of the staff at length.
    Turns out that there is more to this than just digging. There is also categorizing and figuring out formulas to better preserve what they have discovered.
    Many students from around the world come here to learn and do different activities involved in archeology.
    Glad you made it there. You took some great shots.

    Nice area, Marc. The sand along the shores of the reservoir seem to be all natural... as are the burrs you mentioned. What an unfortunate combination.
    The sand and water is beckoning, "come to me", 😮 while the weeds are saying, "burr", 🥶 against your ankles.🤣
    Down here in Texas, we have a special little thing called 'stickers' that cling like burrs but are much smaller and lethal if stepped on with bare feet.🤯😡
    That was a really nice campsite. Like you said, lots of space and close to the water. We're the burrs in the grass around your trailer as well?

      Thank you Glen, and we are happy to have you along! This stop was an odd one for us in that I was buried with the day job for most of the week. Combine that with the shorter days of late summer that limit our ability to film midweek after work, and some uncooperative weather, and the majority of this video was shot in one day on Saturday. That limited our ability to get to some things like the Pioneer Museum.
