Hello Marc I must say the quality of your film is absolutely brilliant as is the scenery you are traveling in , and with your informative hosting makes it a pleasure to watch lostweekends gave me the heads up on your channel , I’ve watch the last 2 so I’ve a bit of catching up to do , as for your film I always imagine America to be like this ie Deadwood and Rushmore , we have been 3 times but mainly sticking to the east coast I love your roads so many so big and the services and drive ins are great I really like the drivin in there keep up the great work Gavin &zehra London
Gavin Streetie thank you so much! Glad to have you aboard. As an East Coast native, I can assure you that the roads are even bigger out west! LOL. I have always loved my time in the UK as well. Stay in touch!
I love South Dakota . My family and traveled there back in 2005 . It was one of the best trips we have ever been on . My kids are grown now but we still talk about South Dakota with fond memories. Thank you for another wonderful video.
I realize that many of your videos are a "whet your appetite" type of production, but the Black Hills, for being such a small area, has so much to see and do. I spent the six days before the eclipse last August touring the area while staying camped in Spearfish. Other areas deserving of mention are Wind Cave NP and Jewell Cave National Monument, Hot Springs, Spearfish and its historic National Fish Hatchery (there would be no fishing in the Black Hills had it not been founded) and the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway, one of the most beautiful drives in the entire Black Hills. There are dozens of museums in the area, ranging from the CCC museum and the SD State Railway museum, both at Hill City, to the Journey at Rapid City and the Mammoth Site at Hot Springs. I will return to see all of the things I missed the first time around.
Thank you BJ! If you haven't seen it yet, here's the recent episode when we revisited the Black Hills this past fall 2020: ua-cam.com/video/c0UC3_3jPU8/v-deo.html
Just a route tip.... if you go to Rushmore from Needels then along the Iron hy you get an amazing peak of Rushmore every time you go through one of the many tunnels in between the "pig tail" bridge. Absolutely beautiful area. Job well done👍
Marc, Thanks for posting. We will be in the Black Hills in 5 weeks for 4 days while on our way to Glacier. Thanks for the information you provide. Now come see us in Lancaster, Pa. and we"ll party with the Amish. lol.
Rowdy One glad this helps! Right now we're on Flathead Lake just South of Glacier. The channel is ~2 weeks behind our travels, so in coming weeks you'll see episodes that will largely mirror your travel plans. I also know your area well as my parents were both from the Lehigh Valley area and I still have family back there, so I know those Amish love to party! It's a gorgeous area.
Excellent job with filming, and the dialog. I am a local, and live in Lead, (which is pronounced Leed). It was named after the gold lead that eventually turned into the Homestake mine.
Thank you Jamey! Guess I botched that pronunciation, but thanks for the cool backstory on it! I mistakenly assumed it was named after the metal, like Leadville in Colorado. You live in a beautiful place.
@grumpy old fart you havnt seen anything in the Hills until you hike up to Harney/Black Elk Peak. I've lived here my whole life....there are a ton of things to do...but they greatest thing I've done and enjoyed, Harney/Black Elk Peak. Also, visit the 5 active fire towers there.
Thanks Christine! We did not ride on our Black Hills stop. We had plenty to keep us busy and frankly ran out of time. I'm also not a huge fan of riding old RR beds, I find them somewhat boring when compared to good singletrack.
Hey Marc, Thanks for another great video! Headed to Custer in our Super-C, leaving AZ in a week or two. Cannot wait! I never realized there was sooooo much to see there. We were planning on heading sw through Yellowstone after a week in the Custer area, but thinking twice now. Might just stay in the area. How does one get to Custer State Park in a larger rig with 16A being so limited by tunnels?
Thanks Mark! Have a wonderful time on your trip. For your visit to Custer I'd more recommend this episode: ua-cam.com/video/c0UC3_3jPU8/v-deo.html The tunnels are limited to the Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road. You'll need a toad to drive those.
lost weekends caravan thank you guys! Fortunately no dents, that gas station canopy saved my truck. Wait until you see the storm footage in the next episode!
Black Hills or Badlands... If you had to choose one, which would you choose? It looks like we could spend a few weeks in the Black Hills and not get bored with all you’ve shown here!
There's definitely more to see in the Black Hills, but frankly I preferred the Badlands. The Black Hills, beautiful as they are, are pretty kitschy. If you're familiar with the Poconos of eastern Pennsylvania they reminded me of that area -- tons of billboards, zipline attractions, t-shirt and taffy shops...you get the picture.
Grand Adventure You said the magic words! I LOVE kitschy! I’m a weirdo who loves tourist traps. We are nature lovers for sure, but kitschy is awesome, especially just for looking:-)
We are looking at staying on Pactola Lake. What site did you stay in while you were there? The recreation.gov site doesn't show any pictures so if you have any insight to lakefront spots I would appreciate it. We have a 30 foot 5th wheel that I can back into almost any spot but height is a concern. I appreciate all your videos, thanks!
Nice drone shots. You failed to mention 3 of the 4 best drives in the Black Hills; Needles Highway, the wildlife loop road in Custer SP, and Spearfish Canyon. I hope you traveled on them and simply chose not to include them in the video.
@@GrandAdventure Hey, that's awesome. I always tell my out of State guests to drive Iron Mountain Road from south to north so that the tunnels frame Mt. Rushmore in their openings. The State Game Lodge at the south end of Iron Mtn. Road has an interesting Presidential history. You even made it to the Buffalo roundup, something most South Dakotans have yet to see. If you haven't traveled Spearfish Canyon yet try to make it on another trip.

We can certainly understand why, John. Thank you very much!

CharlesinGA absolutely! I had to be in Western Montana 10 days later and wanted to see the Badlands, too, so my time was admittedly limited.
As usual, awesome content! Thanx for sharing!

travel vids are your future.....you have a soothing voice, select nice music, and the topics are great1
And a face for radio. You forgot the "face for radio" part. 😎
@@GrandAdventure yessiree.....that too!
I so love your videos. They give me a clear picture of what I want to see and how to plan my trip. Thanks
Excellent tour, back story and great video shots of it all. Like the looks of the old towns!

Thanks as always for watching, Gringo!
We just got back from South Dakota and many of the areas you featured a couple of weeks ago. Great video!
Rod B thank you!
I think we are going to go here in June this year in the skoolie... come with us Marc lets roll bro...
If we're in striking distance we'll make it a point. Whether we'll be within striking distance remains to be seen.
Love your videos! We live in the black hills and just retired. Great info on places we want to go with our 17’ trailer
Thanks so much! Thrilled to have you with us.
It’s been a long time since I was in South Dakota.
Nice informative video.
Thank you.
And thanks as always for watching, Laughing Ram!
Your adventure videos are most enjoyable. You show the beauty of an area as well as critical information. Appreciate the Google maps.
Thank you, Pamela! We're thrilled that you're enjoying them.

@grumpy old fart because there is nothing left to mine guy
@grumpy old fart there is nothing left. I grew up and live here. As of now, find new technology....there is nothing left.

@grumpy old fart and have you been in the Big Horns of Wyoming ?
That looks like a beautiful area. Great job on the video!
Thank you so much!
Great, Marc. We're gonna be there tomorrow
Tommy Bouland excellent! Let us know how it goes.
I am enjoying your videos immensely. I've seen a bicycle in some of your pics/videos. Did you ride on the Mickelson Trail while visiting South Dakota?
Thanks Christine! We did not ride on our Black Hills stop. We had plenty to keep us busy and frankly ran out of time. I'm also not a huge fan of riding old RR beds, I find them somewhat boring when compared to good singletrack.

We were just in Deadwood June 2-5. Nice little town. Had to keep OMA away from the one arm bandits.

Wow what fantastic scenery and places of interest. How many dents did you get in your truck with all the Hail. Great Film Mark. Phil and Juliet.

Your videos are so awesome. Thanks Marc.
How your eye doing? Has your wife caught up with you yet?
Yes, thank you! We continued on the road together beginning yesterday. The eye is making progress, thanks for asking.
Excellent video
Thanks so much, William!
Looks like you've been busy! Hope your roofand solar were spared from the hail.
Fortunately the hail was about 3-4 miles east of where the trailer was parked at camp, and the gas station pump canopy saved the truck.
Great video!
Thank you!
Great quality videos 👍👌 if you can make them longer. ⛰🏜
Thanks! We let the content dictate length, but thank you sincerely for the feedback.
Lead has long e sound..Leed. FYI Hickok was not acting as a lawman when killed. Was trying to replenish his $ at the gambling tables.
Yep, another commenter corrected us on that pronunciation -- thanks for keeping us honest!

@@stevedietrich8936 we've actually driven Spearfish Canyon too, although we can't wait to get back to your area. It's one of our favorites!
It's actually pronounced "leed"...
Yup, it sure is. We found out shortly after filming that we screwed the pooch on that one.
The 6 dislikes are vegans.
🤣
It's not pronounced " LED" , it's pronounced "Lead" ...like, follow the LEADer. and you did yourself a disservice by not hiking Black Elk Peak.
Black Elk Peak is on the list, perhaps in the immediate future, actually. And yes, we learned about our mispronunciation the hard way.
@@GrandAdventure you need to do Harney Peak. Also need to do Bear Butte outside Strugis
