Best snowmobiling I've ever done! We put on 450 miles in 3 days; awesome trail network, though not in the southern hills, not enough snow. We got 8"s the day we arrived and the trails were groomed perfect!

Wish I knew you were headed through our area. The "Canal" is actually the Fall River which is formed by six springs and remains 87 degrees year round. If you're ever back through you can check out Chautauqua Park which is past and to the left of Evans Plunge. The town waterfall originates out of the Fall River, thanks to a fellow Veteran's ingenuity decades ago. Enjoy your Summer Road Trip. The buildings that were torn down was due to a fire months ago, The Vault and the China Buffet will be rebuilding after the US 385 road construction 2022.

My sister and her husband, kids lived in Hot Springs back in the late 50s, early 60s. I am 72 now. My parents put me on the last passenger train from Traverse City, MI when I was 12. I remember switching trains and stations in Chicago and riding the Silver Streak (I think, something like that) westward. It was a long, lonely, and at a bit scary trip for a 12 yo farm kid. I don't remember the town at the end of the line. It was a couple hour car ride from there to Hot Springs. During my week visit, a couple local boys took me up into the hills to show me their hideout, a couple slabs of rock pushed up to form a shallow cave. That place is likely still in use by exploring kids today. My brother-in-law as the local Culligan distributor at the time and my sister taught school. She is lives in a nursing home in Homer AK now. Her oldest son is a retired sea captain, her second son is a home builder in CA, and her daughter and her husband are commercial fishers based in Homer. Her husband was from the Black Hills, half Sioux. After 60 years, I doubt I would recognize much of the town.
Thanks for the ride and the explore. Very nice. I really enjoyed the drone views - what a plus. Imagine how much different things might have been for those first settlers on their westward trek if they had had drones. Imagine if the locals would have had such technology. Blessings to you and yours.

They aren't domesticated, even tho' they will lay down by the side of the road without fear of humans! That's 3-1500lbs coming at you if charging. The wind cave was neat. It's natural.
