    You won't get put out of service Todd. If you do get pulled into a weight scale, the DOT will just update the inspection paperwork. And a clean inspection helps your safety score. There's just too many trailers for Amazon to complete inspections for. If the trailer had an issue, Amazon will red tag it in their system and therefore it would not get cleared to leave the yard. You taking a trailer and getting pulled into a weight scale inadvertently allows Amazon to then have an updated DOT inspection on it.

      I appreciate the info, thank you. I just know with my truck/trailer, if I go through the scales with an expired annual/BIT inspection, it can mean trouble for me. The last thing I want to happen is to get into any trouble because Amazon didn’t keep up on their equipment.
      I love my water bottle BTW, I got a video coming up where I talk about it.

      @STATTrucking well not necessarily unless there's something major wrong with the trailer. With a clean bill of health they'll just send you on your way

    Hey Todd, I would be interested in hearing what you have to say about the new updates on relay. 1. The new performance score incorporating company’s fmcsa scores 2) the relay rewards now pushing company’s to do more miles to get more benefits and now including exclusive load offers the more miles you drive. Possible video idea?

    • @STATTrucking
      @STATTrucking  3 місяці тому +1

      Fantastic video idea, thank you 🙏🏻
      When I got the rewards email yesterday, my mind started working. I love the idea of them rewarding for more miles. Even though historically I have benefited from it, it has always felt weird to me that someone who does five short moves gets more credit than someone who drives across the country one time. I am happy they are making this change because IMO, the people driving further for them deserve more credit than they are currently receiving.
      I may do it separately but was hoping to tie together the rewards/performance with the new asset verification but they haven’t asked me to do it yet. I’ve heard from a few people struggling with it and wanted to try and address it.
      I appreciate the idea, I make these videos for you guys and am always happy and receptive to cover what interests you.
      👊🏻🍻

      @
      I’m not sure I agree with that. I think they should keep it scored based on completed load not off of miles. For example, in college if we had a professor who gave a total of four tests a semester all of equal weights. The professor may give a test (load in this case) with a low quantity of questions (miles in this case) or a test with 20 questions (miles) but all were weighted in equal 1/4s.
      Amazon now prioritizes people who do one singular load with higher miles vs those who complete many shorter loads.
      If you do one 1,000 mile run and I do 4 250 mile runs, we should be scored on our performance the same?
      The performance score should remain based off of quantity of successfully completed loads vs amount of miles driven.

    • @STATTrucking
      @STATTrucking  3 місяці тому

      I totally agree, I’m just glad to see the are considering making total miles be a part (not sure how big yet) of the “reward”.
      I think Amazon is one of the few brokers out there who has historically not taken total miles into consideration.
      IMO, I still think individual loads should account for a lot because that is where the “pitfalls” lie (assigning driver, arriving on time, departing on time).
      I guess what I’m getting at is they would have to change a lot to entice me to do OTR for them because in the past, it hasn’t made sense with what they’ve offered. If they want to “sweeten that pot”, who knows, maybe I’ll start logging more interstate miles for them.
      I’m curious to see what the actual reward is because if we are talking about $10, then I’m gonna feel like 🤦🏻‍♂️
      👊🏻🍻

    Thanks Todd! Do you have to do bit inspections on your semi and trailer every 90 days? If so how much does it cost? Thanks!

    • @STATTrucking
      @STATTrucking  3 місяці тому

      Yes, I believe PTR gets me out the door for truck and trailer for around $150 (+/-$25). I know in the quarters where not only my annual is due but so is my BIT, they give me a discount.

    How often do you have nights like this? Is it busy like a throughout the whole week?

    • @STATTrucking
      @STATTrucking  3 місяці тому +1

      4 nights/week average. My busy nights are Fri-Sun and then I’ll usually pick up a weekday night if the conditions are right.
      Amazon offers bad loads 100% of the time, the trick is figuring out when they offer good ones and showing up during those times. I’ve made videos in the past where I’ve broken down weeks if you’re interested:
      ua-cam.com/video/N13WTPqpUMo/v-deo.htmlsi=6PGkdwQfY8xz-xZF
      ua-cam.com/video/JUikpvUYGDY/v-deo.htmlsi=LQSevxzG_hxlMrYl
      Is it great 100% of the time? No
      There was a time this year (August 2024) where I didn’t run for them once. During those times I work with other brokers, but my experience over the last 2.5 years with Amazon has been pretty good. Keeping your grade high and attention to detail are absolute musts.

      @ thank you for such an detail answer you are great! I’m looking to do local in tired of on the road just scared I won’t be able to replacing my income I net about 8k every two weeks you think it’s possible to do that number barley starting with them my mc is 3 years old

    • @STATTrucking
      @STATTrucking  3 місяці тому

      Apologizing in advance if I go long here, I’m just trying to be thorough.
      Do I think it possible to replace that income with Amazon Relay local work? Yes, but it is very area specific. I do enough load board videos for people to realize I live in probably one of the top three Relay markets in the US:
      1. New York
      2. Bay Area
      3. SoCal
      These ratings are obviously just my opinion. That being said, I’m happy to make a load board video for you however I would caution you about making this single video weigh too heavy on your decision because the load board updates every 15 seconds, so you would be seeing 1 of 5760 possibilities for that day. I do a series on here called Relay Rates where I look at a “pick city” in long format, I recently did Charlotte, NC and if you’d like to see the amount of time required of watching the load board to yield some decent loads:
      ua-cam.com/video/f3etTP8eOFo/v-deo.htmlsi=ICVKvB0YVbUCF2lY
      You could skip to 13:28 and see what I’m talking about.
      I try my best to give people an honest representation of what Amazon Relay really is, I’m not trying to assign you “homework” here, but be sure and check out some of my negative content about Amazon because the last thing I’d want you to leave here thinking is that Amazon is all great paying loads with no problems.
      The time I almost quit (and why):
      ua-cam.com/video/62NwtdNnNJ8/v-deo.htmlsi=cNe7M7amT9bDPjgZ
      The time their app shut down and they blamed me:
      ua-cam.com/video/U5uZfGoS77E/v-deo.htmlsi=akv_i6ZoQUhakAnT
      These problems aren’t unique to me, I hear from a lot of people with similar struggles. I hate accusing Amazon of things, but I believe they cook these situations into the sauce because as soon as your grade drops, they get to pay you less to do the same work.
      How to protect your grade with screenshots:
      ua-cam.com/video/-Ygfu16fN08/v-deo.htmlsi=So3AMDt2YrYhyHy_
      I don’t want to overwhelm you with “assigned watching”, these are just what I would share with anyone looking to be successful with Amazon.
      If you can consistently keep your grade at >98%, I believe you will do fine with it. That is my “trick”, I keep my grade perfect and they reward with pretty good loads.
      As far as leaving you other job for Amazon, I would keep your options open. I love running for Amazon when it’s good, but there are times it slows down and I work for other people. I do expect to be paid well from Amazon because their expectations are very high. Other brokers are like “get there between 8-12” and everything is good. Amazon is the only one who will tell you to get there at 10:14, say you get there at 10:15 and the trailers not even ready, it doesn’t matter, you just screwed up your grade for the next six weeks.
      Sorry for going long, I try to be thorough and just want to give you the most accurate representation I can.
      👊🏻👊🏻

      @STATTrucking  3 місяці тому

      When I goto the help center and search “how do I verify an asset”, I found this:
      “Add any equipment you plan to use for Amazon loads that’s not already listed in your Assets page. You’ll get an email if you need to provide additional documentation about any of your listed assets.”
      I have heard of them rolling this out in waves, they have not asked me to do it on my truck yet but when they do I will make a video about it.
      By any chance, have you tried doing it on a laptop as opposed to a mobile device (or vice versa)? Sometimes with these new features, it only functions on one and not the other.
      Please let me know because I have no doubt this new requirement is upon me.

      100%
      These calls from them and them reaching out to me through Chime are all from relationships I have tried to nurture over the years. Don’t get me wrong, they’re a huge company who probably doesn’t care about me, but if I can get in good with a handful of their reps, I can make it work.

    Mind me asking how many hours did you work?

    • @STATTrucking
      @STATTrucking  3 місяці тому

      I don’t mind at all, I measure my time in time away from home and on this night in particular I was away from home for 14 hours. On the three total days I worked during this week, I was away from home for 39 hours. Now, I do usually work more than this, this week in particular I took things really easy because I had just gotten over being sick and didn’t want to “push it”.
      I really enjoy trucking because I’m able to work up to 16 hours/day with the clock I run (CA short haul exemption). The problem I had with most employment I’ve had throughout my life is I was stuck working five 8 hour days/week, I always thought it would be cool to work four 10 hour days but because of overtime rules, was not allowed to. With trucking, I can kind of do what I want.

    You ever get flagged for going over the speed limit in the app?

    • @STATTrucking
      @STATTrucking  3 місяці тому +1

      Speeding events and total time speeding are a part of almost all of my loads. I don’t say this to stupidly brag about me breaking the law, I’ve actually broken it down to try and better understand it.
      The ones that crack me up in particular are my SAN5➡️SAN3 moves where there is literally 0.6 miles taking a trailer across the street and there is not enough road to obtain enough speed to actually be speeding. On these short trips, I usually end up with 1-2 speeding events🤦🏻‍♂️
      On the freeways here in California where the speed limit is 55mph, I’ve found it counts anything over 58mph as a “speeding event”, so if one were comfortable with 62mph, not only would the entire trip be a “speeding event” they’d also be one of the slowest trucks on the road. The irony here is that AFP’s are governed at 63mph.
      The good news here is, currently, speeding events are not calculated into our scores with Amazon. Should they ever say “you must do 55mph or it will affect your performance”, I’ll do a strict 55mph when I have their trailers attached to me, but until then, I feel like “speeding events” are useless info.
      👊🏻🍻

      @Moneytalks8402 3 місяці тому +2

      @ nice lol yeah I ran a load from Redlands to Patterson and got hit with the entire trip and didn’t know how it would hurt the guys company on the score. Then when I followed the speed limit I was late every time. That system is so inefficient it doesn’t even allow for you to pull over and used the restroom or take a break on them long trips.

      I am with AFP some of the company trucks I drive are gov at 63mph some are gov at 65mph. Not sure why some trucks have this difference but I always hope I get assigned ones that go 65mph 😂
