So jealous of finding that set! I have been looking for months for a set like that 😍. Excellent advise for people to try different methods out for themselves to see what works!
These are Henry Link Bali Hai nightstands that we’re manufactured in the 60’s and 70’s. Bali Hai is my favorite Henry Link design, I’ve been hunting for a lowboy dresser for awhile. While I’m usually a MCM purist, Henry Link MCM furniture is one of the few I’m all for painting because their original factory finishes were not very attractive, although Bali Hai is much better than the yellow toned French provincial pieces. Great job! Also, just a suggestion if you are selling these, please provide the new owners with the original hardware. The hardware is a design unique to the Bali Hai collection and has value. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is when looking at purchasing pieces and the original hardware is gone.
Ah thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I so appreciate that!! I also agree that the factory finish was not very good looking. It was quite yellow, but not in a cute way. More like a white paint that had been out in the sun for a decade and turning yellow. I wonder what I should price these at. What would you suggest?
@@ChicAntiquebyHolly Well, here’s the thing, they’d be worth more with the original hardware. If it were me, I’d swap out the new for the old. The old can be spray painted. Spray paint can be removed if the new owner wished to do that. I’d price them at around $250-300 a piece, but it really depends on your market. Shockingly, these Henry Link nightstands might be worth more in their original finish. When working with Mid century, research is so important. Well known American brands such as Lane, Dixie, Broyhill, Henry Link, Thomasville, can fetch some good prices. You have a very desirable set of nightstands, Bali Hai is probably Henry Link’s most sought after design.
I have the low boy dresser waiting to be painted. His pieces actually sell really well painted. But yes I’d put the original hardware back. It’s very sought after.
These tables are pretty snazzy Holly. The gold hardware you chose is perfect! DB In The Navy is my favorite color paint so I'm a big fan of these tables. One thing you do that I appreciate is making the bottoms look nice. It adds to the very high end look! The shot at 16:05 shows exactly what I mean. Nicely done.🌷🌷
Thank you so much! That would be awesome! Sab at Sab's Rehabs is hosting the next challenge...You can message her on Instagram to get the details and your name added if you are interested.
Thank you so much! This blue is one of my favorite colors to use. It looks good on everything! Ah I'm so glad you enjoyed the bloopers hahaha I mostly do them just for me so that I can have a laugh, but I'm always glad when someone else can get a laugh too!
Hello Holly. It wasn't until you started applying the primer that I noticed you are a southpaw. It made me smile, as I remembered a little joke about that: "Lefthanders are always in their right mind." I'm weakly righthanded, which makes me a little ambidextrous. I read about handedness many decades ago. It's very interesting how it occurs. The book was called The Lefthanded Syndrome. It's likely out of print by now, but you never know. ;) Very nice job on the night stands.
Yesss! I'm all for experimenting with different methods and materials and finding preferences to fit a personal style. Love these Holly, you really did a beautiful job with this dupe! The bloopers 😆🤣
Great job, I painted a bench and my railings in black, have you ever tried Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane trim paint, really nice , dries real hard👍🏻
@@ChicAntiquebyHolly if you work on the top first before the legs you can scratch the top by turning upside down because it’s finished before the legs. Work the legs flip then work the top

Thank you! Yes, I love this color too! Definitely a favorite of mine. Thank you for appreciating the small details 😊
You did a awesome job on this piece. I would have liked to see you fix the water damage at the bottom of the dresser, the legs, and one drawer end.
Absolutely beautiful

I can see the blue in the paint. It's kind of a "midnight" blue. What a great way to update the old bamboo look!
Yes, definitely! Thank you!
Henry Link furniture is very sought after, probably 1974, it’s from the Bali Hai collection. I found a large dresser out for the trash. Nice score.
Thank you so much! A couple of others have said that as well so thank you for confirming! I definitely scored with these! Thanks for watching :)

And you won’t scratch your Finished top to start on ya legs
I'm not sure I know what you mean here.
