Gorgeous! Well said about personal opinions on furniture! The “you ruined it” comments are so ridiculous. Paint can always be stripped off later in the future. It definitely doesn’t ruin it. Keep doing you girl! ❤️
My neck hurts from bobbing up and down as you spoke, Holly! So much truth here. It's great that not everyone likes the same things, how boring would the world be then? But to be mean about it is uncalled for no matter what the topic. Paint being polarizing is sooo strange to me for all the reasons you said. I personally love both painted and restored pieces. For me it's more about appreciating the piece and the artist behind the work. Speaking of, this turned out absolutely beautiful! 😍 Also, your bloopers this time 😂 stupid outdoors!
I absolutely love this. The finish is perfect and going with bronze instead of gold for the hardware was genius! I’m absolutely blown away. I love when people redo furniture and breathe new life into it instead of trashing it and letting it clog up a landfill. People that redo furniture are literally saving the environment. Not to mention, the quality is so much better than what you can get today. It’s generally particle board unless you’re willing to pay thousands of dollars. Sometimes it’s still thousands of dollars for particle board. I love what you’ve done. I also appreciate the bloopers because I drop more “Godd*mmit sh*t f*ck”s when I’m doing projects like this than I care to admit and it’s nice to know that it doesn’t go smooth for the pros all the time either. 🥰
You are correct, everybody has their own style. Not everyone loves stained furniture. Besides, years and years ago, milk paint was in style, painted furniture has been around for years. All opinions are valid, we all have our own thoughts and beliefs, mine is not better than anybody else’s. We need to be kind to each other. This piece turned out so fantastic. Love it. Great job. Keep doing what you are doing.
Love this!!! Awesome color. Yeah, it's amazing to me how some people feel like they get a say on what we do to our own furniture. They can think and say what they want, and I don't care at all. I absolutely love painted furniture, especially bright colors!
This turned out awesome in the color you chose. I could see this piece in a variety of rooms with just the right accents! I love it! I guess I was always a purist like you mentioned, but you have changed my mind for the better. It really just depends on what's best for the piece and what the owner wants it to be. I never knew it was an issue though. Thanks so much for an up-lifting video! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you so much, Janet! I'm glad you like it! Like I said, there is nothing wrong with being a furniture purist, the issue comes when people hate on painted furniture, or criticize someone for painting furniture. It's okay to only like wood pieces, but not everyone else has to share that same preference :) I'm glad you can appreciate both styles! It makes me happy to hear that you found the video uplifting. That is always my goal ❤
You did a great job! I used to refinish furniture and thought it was a "sacrilege" to paint wood...I've come a ways since then and have painted many things and really enjoy the way they look and the cohesiveness they bring to different woods. So glad you removed the "decorative" piece on the drawer...it was so dating to the piece, it actually took me back to the 70's and plastic decorations on so many of my pieces of furniture...great choice! Just so nicely done!
Beautiful! And you didn't even charge us for that counseling session on how to be kind and use our manners! :) Interesting how people believe their opinion to be so high and that everyone else should endure their inside voices on the outside. I love what you did here - it's gorgeous!
I love this color. This piece is absolutely beautiful. I enjoy your videos so much. I agree with and am glad you shared your philosophy about painting furniture. Bravo!
Excellent work, Chic. I’m always impressed by how much you can liven up each piece. The green and gold complement each other nicely! I also appreciate you sharing your thoughts regarding the purists and the haters. The internet gives everyone a voice to share their opinion with the world for better or for worse. It’s sad how many people use it to spread negativity hoping to bring others down with them. Misery sure loves company. Fortunately, most of your comments are positive and are well deserved. Keep up the fine work 👍🤌👏
I just saw a video the other day where they used Stencil and a Clear Glaze to give the Dark wood a "Shadow Effect," and it was GORGEOUS!!!! That would look LOVELY on this piece!!!!
I actually like the color! I was a little worried at first, lol! I thought you'd end up with like 4 coats! I prefer more of a sage green, but this went beyond my expectations! I love both restored and painted pieces. I have a combination in my house, so I have an appreciation of both. My dining set is antique and stained. My pie safe is stained. But my hutch that came with the dining table had been abused horribly and we ended up painting it and the legs on the dining table to blend all the pieces. I really like it! Everyone who comes to our home ❤️ it! Even furniture purists! I agree with you, my furniture is my business not anyone else's! Also if your doing work for clients, their taste is what matters, not your own. We all have to make a living! I make natural skin care for the masses. I have been jerked by others out there for some additives I use in my formulas, so I totally get what your saying. I repeat, everyone has to make a living and these are personal choices!
I appreciate you sharing your experience and expertise. That's why I watch, not for what colors you choose or don't choose. Thanks for sharing! Also, I like the crows adding their commentary : )) Its only further adds to the charm of your videos. I have two questions: 1. Why use Bondo vs DAP (or vice versa) for the screw holes? 2. Is it just the lightness of your application, or do you also need to wipe any excess wax from drawer insides to prevent staining clothes? Thanks much for considering my questions (and forgiving my ignorance : ).
wasn't quite sold on the color when I first saw it in the jar but it dried so pretty! As are as painted vs "restored" I think it depends upon the piece and each person's individual tastes...I like both
@Donald Richard hi, it’s cloudy and cool. I got home from the gym by 7:30 so I decided to water my plants and enjoy the company of this little bird that visited me whenever I’m outside. Have a bless day.
I'll admit I'm a semi-purist. I love the look of natural wood. But if painting a piece of older furniture keeps it out of a landfill, then I'm all for it.
I have painted my share of vintage wood furniture and also things like wood trim or paneling in homes and my god, people treat you like you killed a baby or something! It's just wood, lots of times the wood is scratched/chipped, water/dirt stained or so dark it sucks all the light up, and painting really is the best path forward and as you say, a respectful way to deal with it. Also, so many of my painted pieces were dumped at thrift stores where I rescued them from, and all those wood purists out there aren't doing that. So I saved a battered piece from the landfill and I'm a bad person? Painted furniture can be really lovely and a great affordable way to furnish your home.
Think we should get back to the " mind your own business" generation. With that mind set there was alot less stress and fighting. TMI has gone way too far. People
If this was an important piece of furniture, I'd agree with the folks who disparage painted furniture. By important, I mean not mass produced. Come on, if you had not painted this to modernise it, this piece of furniture might have been tossed into the landfill. Good on you.
Gorgeous! Well said about personal opinions on furniture! The “you ruined it” comments are so ridiculous. Paint can always be stripped off later in the future. It definitely doesn’t ruin it. Keep doing you girl! ❤️

I’ve never used mineral paint. It sounds scary. Is it hard to work with?
thank you so much! it does have a learning curve, but it's not scary at all!

Nice job, I might have painted the tips of the legs to match hardware to make it look like brass capped legs.
Thank you! Cool idea!
