The 2020 Buick Encore GX Feels Like A Real Buick | MotorWeek Road Test

  • As recently as the 2002 model year, Buick didn’t have a single SUV in their lineup. Now, SUVs make up almost 90% of their sales. So, adding another one into the mix seems like a no-brainer. It’s time now for a “rendezvous” with an all-new Encore GX!

The CVT in this one is actually pretty good! GM must have learned from their past CVT mistake, the infamous VT-25 found in the 03-04 Saturn ION Quad Coupe and 02-05 Saturn Vues, as well as Nissan's mistakes with their's. This one is chain driven, and it's a good match for the engine. No major issues getting up to speed on the freeway.

I'm Gen Y but when I see the state of car manufacturers right now, I hate Gen Z millennials with a passion. Every car now is either aimed at soccer moms, 16 year old boys for people in midlife crisis. I'm disabled and have chronic pain and I don't care how well these kids' cars handle. I want something that is comfortable, luxurious and won't be the car I take to the chiropractor. Buick is hardly the worst offender, with everyone scrapping luxury sedans like they're marketing to children, but it's just incredibly frustrating sitting in these newer cars, knowing that I'm literally popping painkillers because some wimp is afraid to get old. My first car was a 1990 Chrysler New Yorker with velour seats. Not hard leather, velour. Because they cared about making a car that was comfortable. Now, if you make a car that's even remotely comfortable, the kids come out to whine that it's not their kind of car and it's a "grandpa car." They're like these people who complain about movies like the new Little Mermaid. They're such narcissists that they think everything has to be made for them. If everything isn't their way, they pout. I wouldn't even be complaining if there was even one car that fit my specs, but there isn't. Even Mercedes and BMW are trying to appeal to rich kids.

Not an excuse. Most aren't gonna pay for literally everything a car offers. The fact that I there are cars that are at least as powerful, if not more, no doubt more fun to drive, and likely more reliable (3 cyd turbo with cvt. Yuck) that START around $2k-4k LESS than this does is insane. Even with the higher prices when comparatively equipped, you still get much more *CAR* for the money then you ever would in something like this Buick.
