I went from a Gmc Terrain to this and I absolutely love it! I thought I would miss the space but I don't. It's perfect for me especially since me and hubby are empty nester. This is just perfect for me 😚.
The wife just replaced her 2012 Buick Verano with a brand new Encore GX AWD, with the Select package. Absolutely loves it. It was the last 2020 the dealership had in stock & they wanted it gone, so saved over $6k off MSRP. Great little SUV.
Thanks, JAX. You know, this is why the GLA/GLB, UX, Q3, XT4, and LMNOP exist, too. And they're not always great representations of their respective brands, either. While there are some quirks with the suspension, I think this Encore is legit, feature-wise. Especially, when you look at some of the other CUVs in that price range. At the end of the day, it's another option that buyers have, which is always a good thing.
@@AutoAcademics Buick discounts the hell out of these things, so they are a great deal compared to mainstream subcompact SUVs like the HR-V, Kona, Seltos, etc.
Fancier and smallish is where I'm leaning for my next vehicle. I'm happy with the size of my Equinox (and love the 2.0 engine) but want something quieter and more comfortable. Your reviews are great for helping to know what some of the options are!
Happy to help, Brian Buehler. So far, more people seem to like the smaller more premium choice than the larger basic one. That must mean the days of Excursions and Hummer H1s are finally passing. Thanks for watching!
It seems to me that size is simply a matter of need and preference. What's too small for one, say, an older couple may be just right for another. Not that age is necessarily a prerequisite. This sporty looking trim is nice looking to me. Thanks for another great review.
Very true, Ron LHeureux. It all comes down to what you need. But that does tend to go with where you are in life for many people, i.e. - young and single with expendable income, married with children or empty nester with expendable income. This Encore does look decent, though. Thanks for watching!
Apparently it’s smooth (for a 3 cylinder) as Chris said it drove quietly and he didn’t comment further about the engine. Very disappointing fuel economy considering the engine and vehicle size. At this high end price it’s not appealing but a lower grade trim might be. I agree that this is the car if you want something smaller but not an economy car.
It's hard to justify it when you have vehicles like the Honda Civic or Hyundai Kona that are cheaper, offer most (if not all) of the Buick's features and have better gas mileage too. Maybe if you really want an American vehicle, but aren't Buicks made in China now?
@@hermanwooster8944 Both Encore and this Encore GX are assembled in S. Korea. The Envision comes from a Chinese plant. Agree with your comment, but some folks want a high-roof car for ease of entry/exit. The Kona is higher. The Civics, although good cars, have low seating.
@@rogerb7147 I suppose the ease of entry is worth it for some, but I always experience sticker shock when I see the price difference between crossovers and sedans. I need to accept it, but I still haven't!
I get 32-38 mpg for a SUV and paid $23,000 (ST, AWD) brand new before tax. This is a luxury car for a standard car price point. Amazing bang for the buck.

Good car but people avoiding gas cars don't care it has turbo. Hybrid way to go gas is 6 dollar a gallon Warrant only 5 year 60 k miles Buy Chevy bolt same chassis
🤣 It was a somewhat functional car, Choo Choo Rabinowitz, and while it still has a cult following, I don't think Buick would be disappointed in their Encore not being an Aztek. We appreciate your comments and thanks for watching!
MOST CUV and SUV buyers would be better served by wagons or hatchbacks. The problem is wagons have been phased out by most manufacturers. In the case of the Encore the now discontinued Buick Tour-X is a better vehicle overall..but buyers overlooked it because it's a wagon.
I'd respectfully disagree. They stopped making wagons because people stopped buying them. SUV's are essentially hatchbacks with more head room, & sit higher off the ground, making for easier loading.

Nicer smaller vehicle versus a cheaper larger one... The eternal question. Excellent point, though. Probably why Buick still exists. Great review!

How many miles you have now Reliability?
Great Review Chris. Great Review. This is better than the regular Encore for sure. However, those 3 cylinders engines are a head scratcher.

Like the color of this one better then the Benz!
Like the red accents on the grill.
Yeah. Not a fan of the "standard" Encore, but this GX with the sport trim looks nice. We appreciate you catching up, Torsee!
I remember when American auto makers were rag on Hyundai vehicles for sounding like sewing machines who’s sounding like machines now
Ha! Very true, Raff Time. Pretty much every automaker has something that sounds like that now. Thanks for watching!
Probably because the Buick Encore GX is built in South Korea, same place the Hyundai is built.
Good looking car, just small crossovers are not my thing.

Love 💘the interior of the encore like how it have the wireless charger

It’s a 1.3K - 3 cylinders (not 4)
It has a 9 Speed transmission (not CVT).
the AWD version has 9 speed, the front wheel drive (as video) has CVT!
It would be a tough call between this and an RS Trailblazer.
Chris great video once again. This question is unrelated to the car but I love how your house looks. Would anyone know what state it is in?

Finally, Buick has steered away from that Old Grandma/pa look for their vehicles, they need to target the newer generation.
It's taken a while, but they're finally trying to, aperxmim. Evolve or go away like some other companies before them. Thanks for watching!
Due to blowing an engine block, over 10 years ago. I want to believe in CVT’s, except the idea of a high revving engine, makes me nervous.
If you get the AWD version of the Encore GX, you get a 9 speed auto instead of the CVT.
I recently brought a 2020 select AWD can’t complain it’s a really nifty car only thing mines doesn’t have wireless charging 😢

To answer the thumbnail: because they are souless and forgot what a car is.

Pricier and not as quiet. Buick more luxury, Mazda more sporty. Apple/oranges.
