    Very cool video on the iconic nameplate of Buick! My first car was a 1964 Buick special deluxe and I also used to daily drive a 1992 Buick century deluxe. I always had a soft spot for Buick. It would be cool if Buick brought back the iconic Riviera nameplate or the Grand national. The interesting thing about Buick I work as an emergency roadside technician and the only issues I have seen is just people needing a jump start and everybody I've talked to who've owned a newer Buick have always raved about them! Buick is one of the unsung heroes with great brand loyalty. My favorite Buick has always been the 65 Riviera Grand sport. Back in 97 I was able to drive one and I cannot believe the wildcat 425 motor with the dual four barrel setup.

    • @markmiller3279
      @markmiller3279 3 роки тому

      Part of it is low expectations. Buick has the oldest buyers of any mainstream brand, and those folks are old enough to remember the dismal reliability of cars from the 1960s through the 1980s. Any modern car seems exceptionally reliable when you grew up driving those.

      I agree with you - except for the inflated price. There are very few truly bad cars being made, and those are, to my mind, certain highly unreliable, ridiculously expensive to repair, luxury models. With its generic GM roots this should be cheap to repair and mostly fairly reliable, if not outstanding. It may not be fun to drive, but that isn't the pount. It will make a relaxing, efficient commuter car, big enough for the childless young and empty-nesters.

    Cue the "Buick is for older people who have blue hair" comments yet according to google the average buyer of a new car is 53 years old. My wife is on her 3rd Encore lease because they are dirt cheap (under $200 a month) quiet, good gas mileage and the hatchback design is brilliant. The leases are all $0 down unlike other brands that have you pay $2,000-$4,000 up front. Also, the turbo engine has good pick up to 45mph but does suffer at highway passing.

V8s or v6s are exotic here no matter what platform they are in. I have a mk 3 miata and a Dacia 900cc 3 cylinder. Both really good cars for very different reasons. I love that they will put a cheap car on a lift and evaluate the compromises manufacturers make to get a car to a price point. Kudos, YT is a meat grinder. The reason channels like this are so rare is because you would have to be willing to work your ass off to make it breakeven.
