Great, Neil. Just great. The LX4020 seems to solve most of my niggles with my LX3310HSDC, which I purchased after watching your videos. The bad news is the price increase over the LX3310, which will be even more painful without the COVID-related high trade-in value. Good news is that I could probably pull off the switcheroo without the queen noticing a difference!
Tym in that size tractor has 4 range transmission and twin pedal and I noticed the transmission on it was very quiet compared to my neighbors Kubota, bought it for my wife to run her septic install business ,she uses it to put gravel in as she is still digging with the backhoe
I wish they hadn’t gone away from the split treadle pedal. I love the pedal on the b2920 where the middle section is under the floor out of the way, makes the floor a lot less cluttered.
I really wish this package was available last year. 40hp would turn my current lx2610 into a true workhorse, without getting bogged down going up hills under load. The quieter transmission is a big seller as well. With that said, I’m very happy with my lx2610, it’s a fantastic machine for its size and can get in and out of very tight locations.
14 improvements the seat in the cab model is wider feeling and much better suspended and has adjustable arm rests now compared to the 3310 cab model. And the annoying squeak of the seat has disappeared in my 4020 🙂

Nice improvements to the LX3310. Have about 175 hours on my LX3310, great tractor for use on my property, would love the same size tractor with more horsepower.
Curious what areas do ya wish ya had more HP for? I’m eyes a 2610 that’s quite a bit cheaper than the 3520 and love to hear what areas that HP would help. (Won’t need a snow blower for where I live)
Heavy clay soil gives my tiller a workout. More power would help with tilling and increased power hopefully will increase lift capacity when moving firewood and pallets of concrete blocks for retaining wall projects. The 3310 has done well for a compact tractor, but more power in the same frame size is always a good thing. I am glad I got the 3310 over the 2610. Listening to you explain the new tractor and all the features makes me wanna go out and buy one, but I don’t have the acreage or the money but you do a good job
I wish Kubota could come up with a good place to mount rearview mirrors on their cab-less tractors. I have not found anything after market that would work with my Grand L 3560.
I am likely trading my LX2610 for an LX3520. One of the items I really dislike on my LX2610 is the rear hydraulics, set up with 1/4” couplers tucked way under the fender. Have you seen the kit for the rear hydraulics? I’m considering whether a 3 spool Summit kit would be a better bet. I use the rear remotes for a flail with hydraulic tilt and shift, but also want to use a hydraulic top link.
Neil I was looking at your parts diagram and the new LX20 series has a planetary rear drive axle. LX10 series uses the spur and pinion (bull) gear. I feel the planetary drive is an improvement due to its compact design. Also 3 planet gears engage the sun gear should be more durable over the old drive system.
What about the ground clearance. Looks like it is only 8.9" inches per the spec sheet. Is this accurate? Seems to be pretty low clearance for a compact tractor.
I recently bought a new tractor, looking at another one. I love Kabota, but until they change the hydrostatic from a single pedal to a double pedal, I simply won’t buy a Kabota. I can’t believe they don’t offer it as an option.
Can’t say I like the diff lock location, and what is up with the loader joystick? It appears to come from way out back and bent up to a somewhat adequate position. Otherwise, not bad overall updates.
a couple more PTO HP then the l3901/02 but what about torque? LX is 1.5 liter vs 1.8 liter in the L The L needs better updates then what they did from the 01 too the 02 series. she needs a turbo too.
Love these new LXxx20 models. Have a '17 B2650 that is running strong. Does most things I need. Do like the wider wheelbase of the x20 as I added wheel spacers to the B. Also would like the front end loader to be a bit more stout (sturdy & durable) with more lift capacity. Been considering a L3902 though I wish it offered tilt steering. Like it because it is heavier, just slightly larger vs my B which should make it nearly as nimble with a bit more capability.
Seems like a great tractor and step up (especially the wider front axle/loader). Pricing seems very high though; pricing out from Kubota's site a Grand L L3560 (LE) and LX3520 the pricing looked like it was within $1-2k for roughly similar setups. Will that keep these LX as "niche" products where weight/size are a top priority, and drive more sales to the L3560 with its "nicer" features?
My thoughts exactly but seems a lot of people look for the lighter chassis… not me the 4060 LE with cab sounds like a great deal and probably meets the minimum weight/hp for a landpride no-till seed drill.
Does the L60 series have a mid PTO? Looking at the base price without adding anything, the LX3520SU (version without the mid PTO) is about $5k cheaper than the L60. The standard LX3520 with the mid PTO looks to be about $2k cheaper. For that money it probably makes sense to go tot he larger machine unless you need the smaller package.
The washout port on my little Sears garden tractor 54" deck is a total waste, all it does is make green water. Maybe it would work if I were cutting 1/4" of grass on a golf course.
Broke my own rule a year ago, and bought the BX. I always say never buy the lowest model, you will want to upgrade too soon. So far the BX is a awesome small residential machine. As wranglerstar would say this new LX definitely gives me the fizz. One last thing Kubota, why didn't you put a horn on the BX?
Dumb question....if you use pallet forks and bucket a lot and put on the auto leveling kit...can the auto leveling be disabled when you want to switch to the bucket and do dirt work?
Kubota's second attempt at this tractor says it didn't get the formula right for the market the first time around. The reason there were so many upgrades is because the market didn't perceive the 10 series offered enough value for the money.
Quick question about the PTO engagement process. I have an LX4020 with a 60 inch LP brush hog. I have sheared about 5 bolts when attempting to engage the PTO in both 540 and 540E modes. What might I be doing wrong here? I select the mode with the stick, fire up the tractor, after a little warming up, I twist the PTO switch and get the worst torque effect on the brush hog which almost always ends up with a broken shear bolt. All at idle RPMs I want to add.
I have an LX 3310 and my question is: Is my front mount snow blower going to fit on the new LX20 or my BH77 backhoe or am I going to have to buy new subframes for each to fit on the new LX20 series?
Hey Neil, I thought that Mike Morgan said that his cab model LX4020 has a true third function, not exactly sure what he means by that, maybe you can help explain? Thanks
I believe Kubota uses true 3rd function on all their tractors. Some companies when selling a tractor use whats called a diverter or diverter valve to "mimic " 3rd function capabilities like closing the jaws on a grapple. With the diverter it diverts flow from another function on your loader valve to operate such as usually it is hooked up to the bucket curl function. You would hit the diverter valve to turn it on and move your loader valve as if you were curling your bucket and your jaws would move. Turn the diverter valve off and it would tilt or curl the grapple like normal. So you can only do one function or motion at one time and the loader valve would have to take turns on what it was able to do. With a true 3rd function you can open or close the jaws while lifting your boom and curling/tilting the grapple all at the same time. Instead of diverting the hydraulic flow it shares it instead. You have 2 additional buttons on the loader valve to operate the 3rd function. 1 would be open jaws on the grapple and the other would close them.
More than noise the slow speed lurch on my 2610 is what annoys me. darn near stuck the forks threw a wall when placing a gun save into position. when moving super slow, it will lurch several inches ahead on its own downright dangerous.
I think they choose their upgrades based on what the aftermarket market is doing… since you can’t really get an air ride seat, they missed it… i have a L2501 and that seat is about the only thing I don’t like about it
