I do not comment on videos, but I wanted to thank you for this video. It was very much appreciated for those of us that are doing research to purchase a tractor.
To me I just want the most important things can the joysticks be operated while your arms are resting on your arm rests comfortably if not it's got to get moved so you can without being jostled as you're trying to drive and operate your implement. My tractor I got to move the fenders out there's no room on the deck for my big feet without stepping all over various controls it's not a problem I can't fix and while I'm at it I can actually Mount the ROPS more appropriately and add some more bracing smart thing to do would be to throw it away and actually make a proper roll cage for it somebody told me that's not a rollover protection system that's a thing to hold the roof up yeah I believe them but I'm going to fix mine so at least the roof is held up with a place to mount mirrors solidly get some lights mounted around the perimeter of the roof so I can see what I'm doing at night and some marker lighting placed in the roof as well for safety sake can't really see the front bucket with the hoot or the Gannon without turning around being that I have an added on loader has a kind of a hoop goes over the dash I'm going to put a pair of 9 inch screens and a camera over the bucket and the Gannon as well as forward and behind that'll record the jerks and their stunts I have to deal with the roadway almost continuously When you're trying to use the bucket the headlights of no value but you want to drive around with the bucket way up in the air there's no real turn signals only on the rear and no brake lights or orange triangle sign so I'm going to add all that going to mount my auxiliary turn signal lamps and headlights up front on the cams themselves so that everybody can see them the light will actually be of value no matter where the bucket is.
If human cloning becomes a "thing" then Neil needs to clone himself and spread knowledgeable salespeople all around the country. Keep up the professionalism brother!
my salesman at the local dealer was trash, wouldnt explain anything wouldnt even walk outside to look at them with me. just told me to keep writing down model numbers and come back to the AC so he can figure it out. keept it up i needed this!
This dude genuinely cares about his customers and it truly shows. Love how he talks about how the old tractors were/are and how the new ones are different. As an old Ford tractor owner its pretty cool you do this in my opinion.
Yes, Neil is a very passionate sales person. What some who have left comments here may not know is that Neil doesn't just work for Messick's, his last name is "Messick". Makes a difference. Thanks Neil for all your videos. All the Kubota dealers around here recommend Messick's videos to their customers. Wish you many more successful years ahead.
Absolutely great video!! This should be mandatory viewing for all dealers. I certainly wish my Kubota dealer had spent half that much time with me. I ended up buying an undersized tractor. My Kubota dealer was so bad I finally sold my B2620 and bought a JD. I sure wish Messick's had a dealership in Maine!
I live in Upstate SC and I was actually trying to figure out the feasibility of driving there to buy a tractor in return for all content they have given us
I've been looking at tractors for a bit haven't pulled the trigger yet and honestly been looking more at John Deere but this guy is a fantastic salesman in the fact that he is willing to take the time out and teach.
Much appreciated. This was a great video for someone (me) who hasn't used a tractor in 30 years, and what I was used to using was made in the 1940's-1960's. Lots of changes and this makes me a little more confident when I take delivery of our L2501HST up here in Wisconsin.
I watch these videos ALL THE TIME. Thank you for making these videos and posting them. Very informative and friendly as well as helpful for both novice and pro.
Thank you! I’m a new land owner again. The video was great. I found a dealer that was patient and explained a Kubota from top to bottom as you did. I have not been on a tractor for 30 years. It was very helpful.
Can we just acknowledge how good the customer is. I wish i had more like him when i was working as an ATV/UTV salesman. Good salesman and customer is a beautiful thing to see.
What an amazing video showing someone new to driving a tractor! Salesman of the Year. I definitely learned a lot unlike from my salesman. I ordered a B2601 without even seeing one! My dealer, largest Kubota dealer in the State, doesn't have any! They usually have 100+ tractors in the lot. They had 5 today. All big boys. These great videos, comparisons, etc have helped me buy a tractor without ever sitting on it
THIS SALESPERSON IS AWESOME. I CANNOT SAY I HAVE EVER HAD ANY SALESMAN TAKE THAT MUCH TIME TO ENSURE A CUSTOMER UNDERSTANDS WHAT HE OR SHE NEEDS AND HOW TO PROPERLY UTILIZE THE PRODUCT. OUTSTANDING VIDEO
Interesting to see your salesmanship at work. You're good this! You're actually trying to get a guy the right tool for the job. I wish I had a Kubota dealer like you around here.
Thank you for putting this out. I wish I had someone to do this for me got my first tractor and the dealer just sold me the first tractor I looked at with not much explanation on how to run it or anything. they delivered it and left. Now I'm looking to a bigger one your video showed me what to look for thank you again.
I like how you worked with the customer, asking questions and giving answers and explanations. I am buying a tractor and can say definitively I have not had a single sales person do what you did
When I was looking for my first tractor I read everything I could then went and looked at them your videos are very helpful now I am on my second tractor a John Deere 4066r cab tractor
To hell with our criminal government particularly EPA bullshit just like the rest of government everything it does has no bearing on any actual pollution it's mainly to cost you money cost you time make you want to hate life why we tolerate these bastards in our lives I'm sure not going to deal with them give them both fingers point them the way to the door and I hope it hits them in the ass twice hard. I had rented a John Deere 210k tractor that trash emissions system on it, it would not finish so you're stuck trying to run with a derated engine wasting fuel wasting time unable to do the damn job I needed it to do terrified to actually take it what I needed to take it as it had no power. The 4 wheel drive wasn't working not like there's a lever to engage it JDs are worthless considering it's a rental unit I sent it back after wasting a day fooling with it getting nowhere what a piece of garbage waste of time waste of money you think they would credited me something hell no. That's why I bought a real tractor and sure as hell not a new one mine's all mechanical no computer BS anywhere considering all this garbage of right to repair and everybody trying to make it where you can't work on a damn thing the hell with that what's wrong with these idiots.
Though not mentioned, there are some advantages to a shuttle-shift transmission over the hydrostat, so it's worth looking into. By the way, I just placed an order for oil and filters to do a 500 hr. maintenance on my Kubota MX4700. Messick's is hard to beat for after-the-sale service and parts.
Excellent presentation , Outstanding salesmanship, it is so rare to see so much passion and knowledge these days. You are worth every penny. Good on you.
Well done Neil. That was professional advise. Both in the selection of the right tractor for the client and the feature, function and benefits of the various controls. From me, that observation comes from 5 decades of operating equipment. And it all started as a 10 year old kid on farms for me.
This channel has helped immensely with my search. I’m still trying to find” the one” in a used form but I’m more equipped with the knowledge to make a better decision.
Good job, i drove my first Kubota last week, learned the controls first hand. The YT videos do help explain and narrow down the tractor and features you need. Retiring the Ford 9N which has been in the family since 1940..... Thank you Messicks for the quality videos and time you spend putting these together. Just wish you were closer to South Texas.
Now that's how you show & sell a tractor. Your channel has great relevant content, not just sales crap. Your real world examples with regard to operation & implement sizing, connection, and operation are very useful. I live in upstate NY near Albany,NY. I wish you guys weren't so far away, as I'm looking to buy my first tractor for my 2.5 acre property for lawn grading & soding, building sidewalks, snow removal on paved and gravel driveways, downed trees and firewood. Keep up the great content. Thanks to Tractor Time With Tim for steering me to your channel.
Very very valuable to me and we just bought a l 39.. been doing JD but these vids are really good. We till and FEL mainly ALSO WE COULD NOT GET PARTS FOR OUR OLD CUB CADETS for the first prop, BUT YOU PPLE, messicks got our sh*t to us in like 3 days with no BS You are the best. I'd like to invest in your business!
I have a fair amount of experience driving a tractor and working a loader. Just now getting to the point of shopping for one for myself. This is a great video to show some of the things we can't see in your other videos. (what a person looks like sitting on a B series, size, where are controls, etc) But I think the gentleman in the video did it the right way. Do all your research first, watch the videos, read the specs, etc. then go sit on all the models you are thinking about. I think if you just go straight to the dealer, especially as a newbie, it will be extremely overwhelming. Thanks for all the videos you have put out, top notch!
Thank you for the show & Tell. The information you SHOW on the Differences, not just Price. You try very hard to get the customer the RIGHT size for their property. Believe me, we got the smaller Kubota mower for larger Grass around open space under our elevated water tank. If only I had a salesman like him, to show the big Difference on the larger tractor. Always go one size or two bigger. I would spend so much of my Day mowing, would be a world of different's if I had gone bigger. The Battery will Die like he said at the time you need to do your job most. Always replace, get a trickle charger for battery It makes a big difference on my 1971 Large Batteries for my old Detroit Diesel with Double set of heavy duty Equipment Batteries. The front Bucket Leveling is so important, though the Green Machine's had that option, the flat plate on top of the front bucket, makes Leveling so smart. I have to guess where my Level bucket is on my 1978 front bucket. I feel it out when I'm parking her. I will start looking for a flat spot on top of my Bucket, thank you so much for that great information watching this video.
Thanks for the videos I now know more than my California Kubota salesman! Without your videos I most likely would have settled for an undesized J.D... Preciate the videos
Great and informative video. One thing you did not mention was a counter weight on back vs what you lift in front. Plays a big role in keeping back tires on the ground.
Fantastic job! I agree with all those who have thanked you for helping us first timers, or old timers, looking for a first machine or coming into the modern era fromold ones!!
Unfortunately MANY dealers do not operate this way, and take advantage of people's ignorance to sell them the biggest thing they can possibly afford. Even if it is far too much for the application. We need more dealers like messicks
FANTASTIC breakdown. Kudos to your customer, I lived vicariously through him. This was extremely helpful in understanding pros/cons, features, and priorities. Beautiful. Thanks so much. Your ability to explain and inform is outstanding.
Wow You are a great tractor teacher. Your knowledge was fun and informative to watch and learn. Super video and I am just looking for a small yard mower. Now I want one of these !!
I am looking for a tractor and you did a good job listening to his needs and giving him some options and things to think about. I just wish you had a dealership in Georgia.
So many lucky ones not only watch but actually get one! The ones that do congrats on an EXCELLENT moment in life! I'd consider you as a seller but I'm in Canada.
Been doing exactly what your customer has done.. internet research and more.. seeing this vid, I just wish you were in the UK where I am situated. Great video which I thank you for.
I like how you explained everything thoroughly about this tractor. But seriously, that guy doesn't need that big of tractor for 7 or 11 acres. Way too much Tractor for his needs
Neil, at the absolute mastery of his craft. I love people and sales. I love tractors. Seeing this video, his interaction with the customer, the customer's interaction, was absolutely enjoyable. The point where the guy got to move and feel the front loader was especially a good moment. Question I'd like to know, did the guy buy, and what did he go with? : )
You do understand CASH isn't always the king.... Some dealerships make money on the interest rates as well. :-) Plus, They get their money quickly even when the customer finance the item. Basic econ 101 tim.
I bought the 2501 solely because it does all I need on a small hobby farm.no DPF junk,no fancy bells and whistles. It runs a 60 inch bush hog sqealer no problem.Full loader of top soil, aggregate.ONE thing that the L series is lacking is cruise control on a long day of mowing.BUT,it can be added for a couple hundred dollars. Each to there own,but I say,"keep it simple",keep your dpf.Either way, kubota's are rock solid under the right care.
same.. couldn't be happier with my 2501 with its grapple and backhoe. was worried about it being underpowered but isn't. even pulls a 72 in box blade well.
Good to hear. I’ve been wondering if the 2501 will have enough power. I have a small horse farm and mostly will be loading manure and running a manure spreader and occasionally using a back blade for snow removal. Won’t be doing much brush hogging. I’ve been getting by with an old Farmall H so I’m sure the 2501 will be enough.
That was very informative. I'm in the market for my first tractor and not too far from you guys. I have mostly some non standard applications but the wife wants to do a bigger garden so I'm just going to use that as a excuse to buy a tractor.
I wish my first tractor experience went this way. I was asked “how many acres, are you mowing”, and sold an L3800. Pto wise, it’s serviceable, FEL work, not even close.
MY L3301 regen's every 30 hours or so. I try not to run at idle, but also rarely run PTO, so I'm usually operating at 1500 - 1800 doing mostly medium duty loader work. The parked regen warning beeps, I bump the RPMS up to about 2200 and let it do it's thing while I get a cup of coffee.
DocRevo we have a Kubota 8560 and if we are ,mowing , baling , doing heavy work with with it never does a regen but if we are moving bales or feeding cows in the winter it does them , not every day but about every 3 weeks if we are just using it to feed cows in the winter
This is a great video with real live customer interaction...This is what we all like to see!...I hope you make more videos like this... it is the reason the ( LIKE) percentage is so high... keep up the good work
Good video. I went for the L2501 with standard shift. The hydro transmition is not fun keeping your foot on a peddle and eats up power. And the 25 hp one has all of that emissions stuff.
It's good that you explain a lot of this for one thing you did not do was periodically stop and ask the customer is there something he wants to learn or know about
As to the rear hydraulics you forgot to mention my most useful item, the hydraulic top link, i use it all the time from fine tuning a plough to tipping my box carrier and rear forks
Good video Neil. You gave the customer a lot of good information. Now he should look at Kubota's website and do his homework. This can be a daunting task, building and pricing the different models and looking at their specs can take some time, but is time well spent. As an example the loader specs on a B50 series looks to be very close to the L3301 and L3901. The B2650 is also capable of running a decent size rotary cutter and doesn't have a DPF. A DPF isn't a deal breaker, but if you don't need a tractor that size its one less thing to worry about and has an impact on the tractors price. I have a L47 TLB and have had no problems with the DPF, but I have the DPF percentage screen on display always so I know when I need to plan a regeneration. I also have a B2650 that I run 3-point attachments with and it does more than you think a 26 hp tractor would. So in summary a trip to the dealer is a good thing, you should still take the time and do your research. Thanks for taking the time to make your videos, I really enjoy them.
So, which one did he buy? Personally I would have picked the premium version regardless. I like the comfort of the joy stick on the fender with arm rests.
Awesome job. Make the customer understand the value and price difference not just demand they buy the deluxe product because they won’t be as cool if they don’t lol
i have been around a lot of old tractors along time and even i learned something... best video ever...he is a sale pro.... he explains the fab's of selling.... features, advantages and benefits... Gary
Very good video. Much more than give money buy tractor. The most important thing in buying a tractor is do it more right than wrong the first time. Tractors are not cheap and to have to upgrade early is very expensive to say the least. Then again if you over spend on a tractor you don't have money for the extra implements. It is an important decision. I myself purchased a L2501 because it does most all I need to do and I can afford to buy extras like a grapple, rotary cutter (brush hog), wood chipper, landscape grader and more. If you over purchase on a tractor to do more than you will do you will not have the extra money for extras. On the other hand if you purchase on a lower end tractor and need more power for your jobs you really screwed up buying a lesser tractor. This first tractor purchase is the most important tractor purchase one has especially if they have a limited budget. This video was very informative and good but one should watch as many as possible before making that final decision. This was a very informative video.
Great video and lots of good information. This is what I plan to do when I get ready to buy a tractor. There is no substitute for just going to a dealer and checking out the tractors. I am already tired of looking at specs and comparisons ha ha. Thank you for putting this together.
Nice video.. I learned some things there.. I will be getting an Orange Tractor this time next yr.. When I retire to my property and build.. Good Job Neil.. Thumbs Up...
Great video. Very informative. If I were purchasing a tractor my main uses would be loader, finish mowing, and a roto-tiller, what would you recommend? To give me an idea of what size machine I'd be looking for. I was thinking a BX but maybe a B would be more ideal? I should add that I have a small property only 1 acre, and about 3/4 of it is grass, and the roto-tiller would get used maybe once or twice a year on a small garden area about a 20' x 24' area then my old Troy Bilt roto-tiller would handle the rest of the year easily between the planting rows. Would a BX handle that type of use, loader would be used around the driveway and help with moving snow out of the driveway entrance that the snow plow throws into the driveway as they go by. So pretty light work overall, but I can't put a loader or tiller on my lawn tractor, so I would eventually be looking to move out of a lawn tractor up to a compact tractor. Hope this information gives you a bit of an idea to get started. Thanks. Only wish I lived closer I'd love to work with Messicks when I'm ready to purchase. You couldn't happen to build a store in the Boise Idaho area would ya LOL.
Don’t we all wish that we lived close enough to Messicks to have Neil and the gang as our local equipment store.
I do not comment on videos, but I wanted to thank you for this video. It was very much appreciated for those of us that are doing research to purchase a tractor.

When you're trying to use the bucket the headlights of no value but you want to drive around with the bucket way up in the air there's no real turn signals only on the rear and no brake lights or orange triangle sign so I'm going to add all that going to mount my auxiliary turn signal lamps and headlights up front on the cams themselves so that everybody can see them the light will actually be of value no matter where the bucket is.
Just love the customer's smile each time he actually experiences the tractor! This is how sales should be done. Neil and Messick's rocks.😅
Salesman of the century! If I would go there for a paperclip, I would go later home with 2 tractors!
If human cloning becomes a "thing" then Neil needs to clone himself and spread knowledgeable salespeople all around the country. Keep up the professionalism brother!
So true. He's got passion
I wish they could clone him and send him to my local Kubota dealer!! Your lucky if you can get the time of day there.
I was going to drive 45 mins today to do this in person. Thanks for saving me the trip!
my salesman at the local dealer was trash, wouldnt explain anything wouldnt even walk outside to look at them with me. just told me to keep writing down model numbers and come back to the AC so he can figure it out. keept it up i needed this!
This is the most informative UA-cam video on tractor operation for a "new" tractor operator that I have seen. Thank you.

Absolutely the best sales presentation I have ever seen and I have been in sales over 40 years.
This was such a huge learning tool for all " new to tractors" type people. Learned a lot. Thank you for putting this on.
Excellent job all dealers should explain and demonstrate the way you do

Look at that smile with his first bucket curl - just like a kid!
I should but a tractor. Than buy some land to use it on... Looks like soooo much fun.
makes me smile everytime im on mine
For SURE eh! Haha...man that was nice!
Interesting to see your salesmanship at work. You're good this! You're actually trying to get a guy the right tool for the job. I wish I had a Kubota dealer like you around here.
Great video. Watching that old man operate the loader and that smile. Priceless.

Neil you have the "gift of the gab" and are a slick saleman. Love your sales technique. Bet you make a lot of up-sales.
Neil, you freaking rock with Knowledge. Wished you were closer to me in Idaho. I may have to do a Road trip. Love your videos
Just bough a new Kubota 2601 with backhoe as the last one a B7200 lasted me 40yrs and still running strong. Thought i deserved a new treat.

Awesome videos and good customer service. Now Janet will b stuck alone at home watching him enjoy using the tractor loader and other implements
Now I want one of these !!
when the salesman saw that grin on the dudes face when he played with the loader bucket he knew hes got a sale! lol
Great video! Should help a lot of people!
Once a salesman always a salesman Neil. Wish you would have been my salesman. Should use this video as a training sales video. Nice
oh man , that was so cool Neil! hooked on the videos. thnx man.
I am looking for a tractor and you did a good job listening to his needs and giving him some options and things to think about. I just wish you had a dealership in Georgia.
Did you find a dealer you like in Georgia?
@@172turtla There are lots of dealers in GA but no Messick’s here.
from a john deere guy, this guy does a great job for kubota
So many lucky ones not only watch but actually get one! The ones that do congrats on an EXCELLENT moment in life! I'd consider you as a seller but I'm in Canada.
Wished my first buy went like this...
Been doing exactly what your customer has done.. internet research and more.. seeing this vid, I just wish you were in the UK where I am situated. Great video which I thank you for.
Im in the market for a kubota tractor but here in the Philippines. This vid was helpful for me as a first time buyer. Thanks
Great videos and Neil does a great job explaining so many topics in tractors. I love the massey 1735M it does not go through any regen
No tractor in that size needs DEF fluid. Only starts over 75hp.
I wish I lived closer to this dealership. I would help them improve their bottom line with cash, and reduce their inventory.
You do understand CASH isn't always the king.... Some dealerships make money on the interest rates as well. :-) Plus, They get their money quickly even when the customer finance the item. Basic econ 101 tim.
So fun, watching this fella enjoy all these functions. Kid in a candy store. I feel the same way when I operate my tractor. Big boy toy.
Why didn't you get a B2650? It has all of the bells and whistles and good lifting capacity.
This guy has so much fun. If he buys such a tractor, he will search for work on the property for fun.
Excellent walk through Neil! Thanks for the beginner tutorial. This video was time well spent.
That was very informative. I'm in the market for my first tractor and not too far from you guys. I have mostly some non standard applications but the wife wants to do a bigger garden so I'm just going to use that as a excuse to buy a tractor.
As always, Neil, an excellent and informative video. Well done. sdh in the Tobacco Valley of CT
Messick's. A helping Hand with ur land
DocRevo thanks for sharing that, I just picked up a used L3901 (with only 28 hrs). I've never had to deal with the dpf before.
DocRevo we have a Kubota 8560 and if we are ,mowing , baling , doing heavy work with with it never does a regen but if we are moving bales or feeding cows in the winter it does them , not every day but about every 3 weeks if we are just using it to feed cows in the winter
I'm pretty sure you just taught me how to operate a Kubota proficiently and I've never sat on one before.
I am buying a Kubota based on this guys video..
Thanks! That was one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen, while I’ve been researching a compact tractor purchase.
this is one of your best video.you did a great job explaining the tractor
Great video for beginners!
Wish I had this a month ago when I got my L3301.
Really informative video.. as a new land owner I have learned a lot
Neil, you are an amazing teacher.
You did a real good job of explaining to your customer..
So, which one did he buy? Personally I would have picked the premium version regardless. I like the comfort of the joy stick on the fender with arm rests.
Lol...@21:14, I was sure he was going to hit him w/ the "Well, there's also the GRAND L series....let me show you one of those!".
Awesome job. Make the customer understand the value and price difference not just demand they buy the deluxe product because they won’t be as cool if they don’t lol
I felt like the Kubota loader valve was much more controllable for delicate tasks than the New Holland and Kioti. Even from parking lot tests.
I only buy tractors if they are recommended by Schick or the Schickster. You are sooo lucky they both like Kubota! :-)
That’s just so sweet, when things screw up with your new tractor are you gonna wait nearly 3 months as did I?
i have been around a lot of old tractors along time and even i learned something... best video ever...he is a sale pro.... he explains the fab's of selling.... features, advantages and benefits...
When the guy starts smiling operating the loader you know you got him. Tell em how well he's doing for a first timer then sign the papers.
Nice video.. I learned some things there.. I will be getting an Orange Tractor this time next yr.. When I retire to my property and build.. Good Job Neil.. Thumbs Up...
....GREAT PRESENTATION....VERY..VERY THOROUGH OVERVIEW OF CONSIDERATIONS FOR A FIRST-TIME TRACTOR BUYER....
