  • It's not a good time to have to strip what you just painted and start all over again. But ... getting to do so with your SurfPrep Sanding system AND Wagner Flexio 5000 Paint Sprayer takes the sting away. In fact, they make the process downright FUN!
    This French Provincial Dresser Set gets a refresh with Fusion Mineral Paint in Lichen - a beautiful sage green. While it was a labor of love that in all took three weeks, it was exciting to see a $40 investment turn into a $300 profit.

    Thank you for the advice. I was going to spray the pair of nightstands with the drawers out.

      Thank you Lori! Lichen ended up drying with more of a blue undertone that I thought it would. I was hoping for more of a dusty sage.So it's reassuring to hear so many of you like the color.

    It turned out beautifully. Loving the lichen colour. I have my eye on that colour for an upcoming project too.

      Thank you! I love the color too. It dried darker than I had expected. I thought it would be closer to celery than sage, but it's a beautiful color nontheless.

    So beautiful! I really love the color. Going to try spraying Fusion paint tomorrow so I am looking up everything I can find on it. Wish me luck.

      I'm just catching up on comments now. Somehow my email notifications got turned off. How did it go? And what sprayer are you using? I just upgraded to the Earlex 5500 recently and it sprayed Fusion BEAUTIFULLY!!!!

    These pieces came out fantastic (large pieces like this are a huge challenge and not for the feint of heart). The finish was glowing, it was so beautiful and perfect. You're hard on yourself, but in an engaging way. When I watch your videos I start to feel like I 'know' you. That is a great quality! I learned along the way, the same as you (most times it's from making mistakes!). I don't know everything (by far), I'm still learning and I love watching other people's YT videos including yours. I hate giving tips because I don't feel qualified but here goes. Guess how I learned how 'not' to hit small hardware directly with a hammer? You guessed it, I whacked my finish and put a ding in my pretty surface. Now, I grab a nail set, place that against my tiny nail and hit the nailset with my hammer rather than directly hitting the nail. Thank you for your work and I'm subscribed to your channel.

      Thank you! I am hard on myself. The hubs often tells me the same. Tell me what you mean by a nail set.

      @@tableflippinghousewife it’s a tool with a small tip that you place on the nail that has a wide wooden handle. You tap the handle and it taps in the nail.

    Excellent video, editing and narrative/story and intimacy/vulnerability. First, your painting technique was excellent - I hope others picked up the way you kept the gun nozzle at a 90 degree angle and not tilt it from size to size or up and down. Also, you kept the gun moving PAST the end rather than stopping or turning down and back - good for you! Yes, your paint was coming out a bit too thick which led to the orange peel overspray so you might want to use a 10 percent water mix or reduce your spray setting so the paint comes out a bit more misty rather than quite so "wet." Anyway, fantastic job and your hubby's camera work and lighting was great, your voice-overs were very natural and seamless, plus the music mix was just right. Loved your attention to detail and finished product - many thanks!

      Wow, thank you! Do you use this sprayer or a similar one too? I haven’t found that “sweet spot” yet. Sometimes I get a smooth, incredible coverage and other times using the same paint and settings it comes out orange peel. I can’t figure it out. I wonder if I would have an easier time if I switched to a pneumatic sprayer. What are your thoughts on that?

    I have a question do you turn your shop vac on when using the surfprep sander. I’m interested in purchasing one.

      Yes! My shop vac is connected to my Surfprep and I turn my shop vac on when sanding.

    Very nice job and great video! In one of the final clips, it appeared that there may still be orange peel. Did I see correctly, or did it ever level out? I’ve been spending the last 6 weeks preparing my old oak kitchen cabinets for a glass-like white paint finish by applying grain fillers, and am in turmoil deciding how to get the paint job done for a factory-like finish so all my time wasn’t wasted.

    • @tableflippinghousewife
      @tableflippinghousewife  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you Jus! Yes I did still have some orange peel but less than what was shown in that clip. I think I should have thinned the paint with a little water. Good luck with your project. Let me know how it goes.

    Nice work. I’m new to this. How many jars of the fusion paint did you use for the set?

  • @shannonbell236

    Gorgeous! Do you find you’re using more of the paint when you use it in a sprayer? I can normally get a couple of painted pieces out of a can of fusion, but when I sprayed a dresser with it, it went through the entire can.

    • @tableflippinghousewife
      @tableflippinghousewife  5 місяців тому +1

      I do use more paint when I spray. However, since my time is limited to paint my pieces (because I have a FT job during the day) the time saved makes the use of more product worth it.

    Can you tell me what settings you used on the 5000 for Fusion? I've seen people say around 5 with minimal paint output?

    • @tableflippinghousewife
      @tableflippinghousewife  Рік тому

      I don't recall what settings I used. It varies (sometimes even within the same paint line). My guess is that the air flow dial was set at a 5. Unfortunately the paint output is an unnumbered spring dial that you simply roll up or down to make adjustments.

    What settings did you on your sprayer as you did mention that you saw some orange peel dimpling on your piece but you were hoping that it would settle once dry. Can you tell me if it did? What settings did you use? It looks like you used the detailed sprayer from that set am I correct?

    • @tableflippinghousewife
      @tableflippinghousewife  2 роки тому

      I’m so sorry but I can’t recall what settings I used. It varies from paint to paint. Why I sometimes get the orange peel texture is frustrating and beyond me. The texture on that piece did settle down. And yes, I only use the detailed spray nozzle.

      I had the 590 and then the 5000 you see me using here. Both gave me issues with spitting (maybe I didn’t thin the paint enough). But what bothered me most is that I couldn’t get a wide spray pattern. The paint would come out in, at best, a 1-1/2” diameter. It took too long to spray.

    • @tableflippinghousewife
      @tableflippinghousewife  Рік тому

      I had to go back and review the video to remember why. :) My 1st Wagner died in the process of spraying the primer so I ended up having to use a brush and roller. My 2nd Wagner came in in time for me to spray the Fusion.

    • @tableflippinghousewife

      Fusion has a built in primer and topcoat. I prime anyway if I’ve sanded down to raw wood in areas as I did hear.
