I had been getting some question on why the bottom half of most climbing sticks aren’t secured like the top. So I decided to make this video explaining a few things about climbing sticks.
Great demo of using the lineman rope. Next season will probably be my first using climbing sticks, a lock on, and a lineman belt. Working as a lineman for the phone company, it looks very similar when hooking a pole. We will see. Great video man. 👍

Rock On Brother.... I am used to gaffing, my weight was an issue for the sticks until recently but ,now I an comfortably under the working load they are made for ..
I would think climbing sticks would be safer in this regard if they just put two straps on them. Just add one at the bottom to make it more stable. Hang on treestands too. Just use two straps, even just a cinch strap around it, and it would be great peace of mind.

But how do you get the stick above your head and get the strap around the tree to hold it so you can climb it

How are you carrying your extra sticks up the tree?
I have 2 loops tied to the leg straps on my safety harness. They are made from paracord.
pretty cool. I just need to climb a tree. not for hunting. Is there a cheep method or should I just make my own sticks ? I'm very handy at diy's.
