I had the same engine in my 1982 Mercury Capri, oil changes were so easy. Slide the oil drain pan under the drain, reach down from the top and remove the drain plug. I typically checked the cap and rotor while I waited for the oil to drain before reinstalling the plug and replacing the oil filter. No fus, no mus and no dripping after the fact from the cross member that wasn't anywheres close to the oil.
I'm loving this new comedic format here. Highly entertaining. Not trying to be too crude, but you either ate a case of those coffee bites and slugged an energy drink, or Mr. Goodwrench got to visit the "tool box" last night....
Yeah I was a lube tech back in 01 when those were new and even being next to the exhaust they were still easier than the 3.0 Taurus. The other guy on the rack had the part number of the manifold burned I to his arm.
My mustang has ford's "high perfomance" 2002 3.8l V6 Split Port engine. Ford increased the horsepower to 193hp in 2001-2004. It was fast for 2002. The 2000-2004 3.8l/3.9l v6 engines are quite reliable since they received many improvements including the 4R-70W transmission. But the 1994-1998 3.8ls engines were plauged with coolant issues.
The maroon and beige paint reminds me of the 90's square body Explorer Eddie Bauer series. Did you replace the rounded off oil pan bolt and washer? 🙂🙃🙂🐶
How's that right eye healing bud? Windstar? Damn, that's old news for us now. I sure don't miss burning my hands on the cat trying to remove and install the oil filters on those.
My old 1971 Maverick with the 200 CID six banger had easy access to the oil filter and other stuff. Old school.

Great job! Love the maintenance videos! Merry Christmas

Lol just my true silly side where I don't have to be serious, strictly maintenance

Blessing to you as well
The one thing I liked that scottie said was to replace the seal on the oil pan screw every time!
No not necessary
Thanks a lot with this step by step. 3
Something a little different

No, customer didn't want to pay
Is it possible for me to do this without lifting it off the ground?
Thank you.
It'll be tough
What oil type, motor craft and synthetic or blended? I’m working on a 2000 and it uses 5w30, are you using a different weight for a test?
What ever is on the cap
I didn't know flood mode existed back in 2001.
It exists wayyyyyy back
Why is the check engine light on?
because the key was on and engine wasn't running
Looks like you having a good time….LOL

I'm good will be a permanent knot
Rich, have you personally sent engine oil to an oil analyzer company for your own personal cars?
Yes
I’m paranoid about oil changes like you are. Every 2500-3500 miles for me, max of 4k depending on my highway miles or financial situation
From what little I can see, it looks like the customer takes care of this van. Its a shame about the subframe mount.
Late 90s early 2000s windstar and Taurus were known for rusting sub frames especially in the rust belt where we are.
I’ve seen worse oil filter locations.
