  • To fix upper neck pain (and any associated headaches) the first step is to avoid the cause-else it’ll just keep coming back. Holding your head in a rotated position for a prolonged period of time is the most common cause of jammed spinal joints and muscle tightness in this area, so here are the most common, day to day things that cause pain in the upper neck. (Plus a quick bit about what you can do to get some relief).

      If the relevant info can be in a short video, then great. In general if I watch longer youTube videos I sometimes speed them up. If I had a problem and wanted a solution then I would prefer a longer detailed video. I watch all of your videos to get tips and new exercises so I am happy with the shorter ones.

      I don't know if I should cry or smile 👉most of the time is sleeping position behind my neck pain and second one is cold windy weather.🌬️
      I don't know how you have it,but when I sleeps I don't know what I'm doing 👉I can fall asleep in right position and still wake up in wrong one.

    The pain is very sharp in that upper neck area when pushing on my left side for 5 seconds as shown on the video. Is it normal to feel a lot of pain during this, or does that mean I’m doing it wrong?
    Edit: i watched your PNF video and it answered these questions mostly. I did some PNF exercises, but it’s pretty painful. I’m hoping by the end of the day I notice some relief.

    • @BodyFixExercises
      @BodyFixExercises  9 місяців тому +2

      PNF exercises can be sore if your neck is inflamed. They're pretty safe though, as long as you don't do it more than recommended.
      If it hurts, I'd ice it to reduce the inflammation. Maybe 3x a day for 10 minutes. Check my video on the use of heat and cold for details

      That's a big subject. There are soooo many causes of migraine. Certainly, the neck is one of them. (Cervicogenic migraine.)
      So sometimes exercises like these help migraine. Sometimes they do nothing, and can even aggravate migraines if the cause is vascular, so sideways try any exercises gently the first time.

    This does not address the root cause of the stiffness and pain however there were some useful tips. I am looking for the root cause. For example, the fact that you can massage the pain out the muscles, correct your posture and sleeping positions and the stiffness just continually returns. So what is the root cause?

    • @BodyFixExercises
      @BodyFixExercises  9 місяців тому +3

      The stiffness and pain comes from the spinal facet joints in the up part of the neck. They can become restricted when you put your head in certain positions, particularly tilting your head and rotating your head ... and holding that position for a period of time. The joint restriction can cause inflammation, muscle spasm, or nerve irritation

    Oh nooooo, I do all of these things and am having intense neck pain and headaches. I was surprised about the computer screen placement, didn't even think of how bad that is.

    I always have agonizing neck issues, such as cervical dystonia. While I watched the video I did the sideways neck bending and when I bended my neck to the r side (where the neck pain is) there was a loud crunch sound. I think it might have released some of the pressure there. Good video.

    My wife often complains about having a headache but I must confess I never really get Headaches even after drinking to much alcohol, I just get a upset stomach? I find it hard to know how she is feeling? Neck ache well maybe if I have twisted my neck?
