I've spent thousands on physical therapy and I've watched numerous videos and tried several exercises and I feel like I get more out of this simple video then all of that combined! Thank you!
This is an excellent video. This I state as both a medical doctor, specializing in chronic pain and spinal disorders, and a person that has dealt with chronic neck pain my entire adult life. Well done!
Doc, hoping you mean Blue Ridge GA, cuz we're neighbors in the same neck of the woods. Am now a disabled RN and need all the help I can get. Refuse narcotics for all the obvious reasons 😢
Short and very helpful indeed. Neck pain headaches feel like migraines, coming and going throughout the day with dull aches all over the head. Thanks for these tips!
I just found your video. I have had neck problems since 1992 I had a fusion of c 5-6 in 2007 and I still have chronic pain from my shoulder/neck it goes now up to my ear area and into my head now as well. It's like one big muscle spasm. I think ive tried everything there is. Maybe, I'll get some relief from one of your videos 😊
This was exactly what I was looking for. I sometimes let my head fall to the side when I'm sleeping on my back and this absolutely explains why I so easily tweak my neck there in the morning after. Cheers!

I recently started experiencing this issues of neck pain and headaches very often 😢. I have been suffering from this sinuses for long now and I only have to sleep facing up or sides. I always wake up with stiff neck pain and this terrible headache behind my left ear side. It’s so so sore and I had to take pain killers most times 😢😢.. I think this clip explains it all 😢😢🙏
I have a seriously damaged neck due to a severe whiplash many years ago, I have seen a neurosurgeon twice and the conclusion is an operation would have far more risk than benefits so right now I’m struggling , I was doing neck exercises to try to keep the limited movement I still have , I now realise I was doing the wrong ones , I’m in a lot of pain just now and was feeling desperate but seeing your recommendations has given me hope. Thank you for the advice I shall start doing it all straight away
@@amysmith7589 My surgeon says surgery is to dangerous, he would be going in from the front and fusing the bones, this wouldn’t improve my mobility so for now it’s not on the cards
so fusion surgery and or ACDF ? that's what was recommended to me for my pain - damaged discs 4-7 cervical with no cushioning ( advanced spondilosis ) - what other alternatives are there? thanks hope some of your pain is relieved@@lyndaturner6686
This does not address the root cause of the stiffness and pain however there were some useful tips. I am looking for the root cause. For example, the fact that you can massage the pain out the muscles, correct your posture and sleeping positions and the stiffness just continually returns. So what is the root cause?
The stiffness and pain comes from the spinal facet joints in the up part of the neck. They can become restricted when you put your head in certain positions, particularly tilting your head and rotating your head ... and holding that position for a period of time. The joint restriction can cause inflammation, muscle spasm, or nerve irritation
