17 years later and the padres catcher couldve not been a dick and intentionally stuck his foot out to cover directly where holliday was sliding. ur soft

That was also definitely a home run by Atkins in the 7th

THe catcher was TOTALLY blocking it where it was impossible for him to do it.

Tiebreaker games were so exciting. Way more exciting than just sending whichever team won the season series against the other with the same record to the playoffs.

    • @craigisapunk

Did that used to be the case at one point?

    • @his_purpose3

@@craigisapunk before 2022, if two teams in the same league had the exact same W/L record at the end of the season, they'd do what the Padres and Rockies did here (a one game tiebreaker). Nowadays, instead of doing the tiebreaker, they check which if the two teams won more games against each other during the season. You could argue it saves time due to the fact that there's a third wildcard now, but I really miss the vibe these tiebreaker games had. (Also the third wildcard is kinda wack but that's just me)

@his_purpose3 oh dang that sucks. I'm a Twins fan, and the game 163 they played against the Tigers in 2009 is probably my favorite baseball game of all time

One of the greatest games in MLB history! It had everything from lead changes, a grand slam, suspense, controversy, defensive gems and blunders, extra innings, and a dramatic walk off.

A huge part of the Rocktober run which led the Rockies to their best postseason run ever. It began with winning their last 12 of 13 games then sweeping all the way to the World Series.

The time where blocking the plate was not rules interference.... I do not miss that rule. They blew it before this call

Here come the "he still hasn't touched home plate" comments. Plain and simple the Padres blew that game well before the home plate controversy.
