Thanks for watching! 8^)
As I post this, I'm enjoying a couple of delicious Belgian beers in The Head of Steam - fantastic place, def recommend & shame we weren't able to include it in this video! 8^(
You can’t do it on a Narrowboat but put brewing your own on your bucket list. Once you get good at it you’ll never want anything other than your own beer, ale, mead, barleywine or whatever the case may be. Which...presents a real problem. But, do it anyway. Your friends will fall deeply in love with you;) Thanks for this!
Watching this again and thinking how the worlds changed since I wrote a comment 2 years ago, how life was then feels like it wasn't real now, can you imagine doing what you want and going where you want and seeing who you want sounds like a distant dream! 🙏
Really cool video 👍
Always good to have a nice pub with lovely music, drinks and friendly people :)
Yes Seren you know it! Thanks for watching 8^)
That looked like fun.
I'm a leeds fan and have to travel to leeds so we make a day of it, love this video cause we had never been the whitelocks till watched this and now we love that pub, we go the head of steam aswell cause it used to be spencers an old pub now love the Belgium beers in that place, but the best place we have found is the griffin and you really need to go the atmosphere in that place was amazing, it's got a really nice tunnel bit aswell and great food and drink. Cheers
Thanks James I shall definitely try that out when I’m next in Leeds! Which is... next week! For a work meeting. Oh. 8^)
Yeah go it's really nice and unexpected how big it is but also feels small in a strange way, the tunnel section is really nice aswell you feel like your in an old train station, we wasn't planning going to the griffin just came across it and now it's the pub we all love to go, the atmosphere in the place just makes you feel like you wanna have one more! Let me know what you think cheers
God bless u Robbie thought u were gonna forget the good old angel. Go up to Leeds quite often to visit the in laws and the highlight of my weekend is a cheeky beer in the angel having been dragged round the shops. Thanks for the low down on a few places I haven't tried yet. Next trip to Leeds maybe a very drunken one now I got a few new places try lol
Cheers Jazz - yeah the Angel seems to be the one for the locals that like proper beer, also went to several other places incl. the Duck and Drake but bit pricey for what it is I thought. Missed out on the Grove apparently that's good too?
Well done Robbie great informative pub guide, pub of the week plus!! Crank it!! maybe you should write a pub guide for the canal routes?
Thanks Donkeee!! Good idea... it might be a bit scathing - most of the pubs by the canal are soulless as they're just there for tourists - but there are definitely a few gems!
You seem to find a couple of gems even if it's a bit of a walk!
Others I like in Leeds are The Ship, Templar, Horse and Trumpet and Scarborough Taps. These are all your more traditional real ale pubs.
Going through all your videos today. Really enjoyed the pub crawl! Though I'll bet you enjoyed it more, no brew this morning here. :)
I suffer for my art Eric so of course it was complete hell! Great to hear you're bilge watching, hope you enjoy a brew a bit later on!
In the fridge, tomorrow after sanding my boat.;)
Hi Robbie great vlog, Real Ale, Food and Boats what can go wrong. Enjoy.
Thank you Peter! Much more boat action coming up in the next one 8^)
Hi Robbie, you need to try The Victoria on Great George Street. Good beers, good atmosphere, reasonably priced. Good selection of pubs you tried though. Such dedication :)
Cheers Ronnie great tip will give it a go when I'm next in town! Thanks for watching 8^)
lovely job robbie pub crawl my hobby love it ......p.s good information
You're welcome Dave glad you enjoyed watching hope it helps!
Ah, the pub of the week. Keep waiting for that and oh so many but only one in one week. Still love your boating too mind you. Always looking to the next vlog. Circle Line pub crawl next?
Cheers Roger 🍻 well stay tuned as the next vlog will hopefully come out at the end of this week and is full of cruising (but sadly no pubs as have been ill). The Circle Line crawl sounds lethal!
Sorry you're not well. No vlog that please. You wake up when I'm about to have dinner, it's autumn and much rain. (Fall for the Americans) And I know, too much craft beer, Hmmmm.
Ha cheers Roger, no I musn't grumble. Always interesting to hear what's happening on the other side of the globe - hope you have a great autumn with not too much rain 8^)
Hey Robbie, have to admit I'm fond of a nice real ale and have a few mates seriously into that scene. Try a "Speckled Hen" 5 Litre keg for your boat mate. Bargain at £15, lovely beer and the keg looks cool and works great. If you look around there's quite a few ales in kegs.
That's a great idea - it's funny, when I first set off from near Bristol 2 years ago, the drinks cabinet was of course fully stocked - and one of my best purchases was a 5ltre mini keg of delicious Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold! The best thing is the sign on it which says 'drink within 3 days of opening'! Well if the label says..!! Unfortunately my friends drank most of it on the first boat party 8^o
Fosters!!?? when I was in the UK I tried it and was not a fan. that is why we export it back from the colonies. We have some great Local breweries one has a Stout call the Lambshank Redemption, like a meal in itself. Great video Robbie, I am liking these tour videos.
Well Sam that explains why some people order Fosters top, which means adding a bit of lemonade!! All brewed here now so it’s our fault as well. Thanks for watching and your support as always is much appreciated (as I said it’s an expensive hobby this!!) 8^)
If you could get good draught real ale here in Fuerteventura I would consider starting to drink again. Unfortunately Spanish beer is absolutely pants.
Well John you know me I'm not fussy, would probably drink anything as long as it was wet and alcoholic but you're right! Hopefully they'll get the Fuerteventura beer crisis sorted soon (idea for a vlog??!)
lol good idea
MMMmmm, can you say pub crawl ? Cheers !
and the other reason you didn't get around as many as you would have liked.....you must have been staggering after a few of those sessions. I can see quite a few vlogs ahead, which thankfully means, you didn't fall into the canal on the way home and drown!
The beer was only pricey because you insisted on having the ones with all the posh/rare ingredients. I could be wrong, but I'm sure one of the beers you had was brewed with hops genetically modified by the US military...
That explains everything... and I bet it was the chewits one wasn't it?!! Anyway you're just jealous cos (forgot to mention!) you kept ordering those pale ales that tasted exactly the same! 8;^)
Hobgoblin from www.wychwood.co.uk/ good beers.
if you are ever in the West Midlands come to the Red Cow, in Lower Gornal, Dudley, west Midlands, Great Selection of ales...
Cheers Ade will try and remember to check that out! What's the decor like though??! 🤔👌😉
it's the oldest Pub in the Gornal area 185 years old, Small family pub with beer garden, Decor Fresh smallish Lounge & Bar, you can have a game of darts or any of the standard pub games.
Ah yeah pub games - now you're talking!
Some genius had the clever idea to stop calling it keg beer and call it craft beer instead. Its a bit like beer, but it has had all the yeast killed and then basically put through a sodastream. But does it taste good? Apparently yes. Still irks me somewhat that they actually advertise the fact they have craft beers as if it is something special, when its not, its actually the exact opposite of special. But again, it tastes nice, apparently. and it could keep a few pubs open. meh I can not make my mind up if this advertising keg beer as craft beer is a good thing or not.
