- Finally, the video we've been looking forward to making the most ... a tour around the Freedom Quarter (also known as the Gay Quarter) in our home city of Leeds. We show you where to find all the best LGBT+ bars (and one cafe) so you can enjoy a cracking night out next time you're in Leeds.

It's been a long long time since I lived in Leeds and the Gay Quarter has changed. We only had The New Penny, Bridge, Bananas and Rockshots back in the 1980s
Hi Neil. We still have 2 of those places although they've changed a lot since the 80s. Rockshots and Bananas 🍌 we're brilliant venues. We'll never see the like of those again 💯🍹👍
I used to work in Bananas and Rockshots back then, even did the odd shift in New Penny to help out now and then. Rockshots was a brilliant venue as you say there will never be another of the like.

Hi guys another great video. I lived in Leeds for a short while Bern in the bridge bar and the new penny. Great night's way back in my younger days. There was one bar around the corner but now a straight bar. Owners don't like gay people going in. Mind you that was a long time ago
Thanks John! I'm not sure which bar you are talking about. The Bridge has recently reopened and seems to be doing well. The New Penny is still going strong, it's something of an institution on the Leeds scene.
@@thechatterguys if you came out of the new penny turn right carry on up the road at the end of it turn right there is a pub on the right hand side and that was a gay friendly bar but not anymore so I have been told

@@andrewvalentine2723 thank you, Leeds has changed a lot, new skyrisers galore. However the scene is more or less the same. I bet it's much different to Florida!
It's so different here; the scene is better back in Leeds and the UK and is more advanced with equal rights. Sadly the USA has a lot of catching up to do.

Blayds bar looks nice
Blayds is our favourite bar in Leeds. People often have trouble finding it for the first time but hopefully the video explains where it is! 🤨🌜👑
Used to go to penny in the 80s , does anyone remember the name of the drag artist whose framed picture hung on the wall for years , i remember seeing him perform but cant remember name ;-) its bugging me ...thanks

Wharf Chambers is highly recommended as well and is lgbt friendly and flamboyance is nice as well although a bit of a walk from town

Do I have to be gay to visit this bars,and if I did with gays disturbe me,coz am not gay and I will be mad.

@@johnnjuguna74 No one is likely to touch you but if you are not comfortable in the company of members of the LGBT+ community why would you want to go to a gay bar?
I've been to a couple of those places and was 'chatted' up and 'touched'
I suppose it serves to give some insight in to what girls nights out can be like!
Men are forward and after sex more than women, so yes it is more likely you'll be 'disturbed', so probably best avoided unless you're a proper minger

Hi Nigel. We have Yorkshire MESMAC in Leeds and throughout Yorkshire. Bradford has Bradford Equity Partnership. There are others but those are the 2 main ones 🩵🩷💙
