Right! The other PS channels (especially the one with the obese white guy), are obnoxious as hell. They also add 15 minutes of fluff BS. This channel is great, I’m subscribing and will watch @lovingtechlife videos from now on.
Thanks @seventeenseventysix ! Really appreciate the feedback and the sub!!🙏🏻👍🏻👊🏻 Out of interest what’s the obese white guy channel? I’d love to check out what your talking about 😅
I think the price is bang on. People have been saying to me, its way to expensive, is more than the console. While it is more than the console, i don't think it is expensive. I have the first Oculus Rift CV1. It cost me £600 in 2017. So for the PSVR to have so much tech packed in, with far better visuals, it a bargain i think, plus triple A games at launch. Great break down of the PSVR2.
Yes! 100% agree with this. It’s all about perspective and people’s expectations. Hopefully over time people will understand the value of VR tech. Thank you for watching!
The thoughtfulness of everything from the headset adjustments to the box being able to be used as a storage box makes me happy. I know the launch isn’t as big as Sony probably wanted it to be. (Preorder still isn’t sold out yet) But I know people will come around once it starts getting into peoples hands and reviews start coming out. Hopefully PC support will be in the works in the future. They could make it where you could only activate on PC if you have a PS5. Kinda like how they are able to track activated consoles. I’d even buy an unlock key. What do you think?
Thanks for watching Dustin! You make some interesting points. Yes with some more time, the feedback form player and the arrival of more games more people will jump aboard. I think it would be great if Sony enabled PC compatibility but I don't see them doing it anytime soon. It will take years for a hacked reversed engineered solution to come about so only Sony themselves and change that. Will be interesting to see. Considering the PC version of games won't be built specifically with the PSVR2 in mind using all the haptic feedback etc I don't know if Sony will be willing for people to experience the PSVR2 without PSVR2 features being supported on PC...
@@LovingTechLife I agree. Most likely it will be years before people are able to reverse engineer the software enabling it to be used on PC without Sonys help. But I can’t find a downside for them to make it lockable with a PS5. You can only activate one headset per PS5. That would boost sales on the PS5. People are looking for better software now and looks like Sony is delivering on that. Not to mention the headset is backed by Sony and it looks to be a great headset. Only time will tell though
You for sure got an sub for this video. You got right to point without bulling and all the extra stuff. When we watch videos, we don't want to hear all the useless talk about other stuff like other channels do. You got right to all the facts we wanted to know and didn't waste our time talking about nonsense. I will always watch your channel now because I know you get to the point .
You've done a great job in covering topics that are not covered elsewhere. Here's one: The PSVR2 seems to be able to toggle eye-tracking off, but what the experience is remains to be reported. Namely: 1) How noticeable is foveated rendering when eye-tracking is turned off? 2) is performance negatively impacted when eye-tracking is turned off? 3) When eye-tracking is off, looking at the social screen, is the foveated region larger or smaller than the eye-tracked foveated region? I have been in contact with individuals that suffer from involuntary eye movements (nystagmus) and as such fail the eye-tracking calibration. It would also be interesting to know exactly how this impacts overall gaming in a general sense.
I like it, when I have time to do some testing I’ll see what I can find out. It may be a while before any potential content comes from it depending on how all that goes.
I preordered the call of the mountain psvr2 bundle yesterday. For me, I'm ready to just ha e my vr headset that I can plug in the front and just go. No camera bs, no weird move controllers, no weird hdmi pass-through bs, this is the way it should have always been. This will mean far better accessibility which means I'll get to play more since I stay busy af and hardly have time for games. I mainly use it to intensely play beat saber to get some exercise.
Thank you for watching! My concern when doing this part of the video was that people would possibly drop off before they saw the rest 😅 I’m keen to see the analytics to see if people with itchy trigger fingers have dropped off!
You are right the PS4 had an older version of 3D audio tech just not the tempest 3D audio of the PS5 which I learned from the comments of this video 👍🏻 Thanks for watching RonZombie91!
INTERESTED IN PSVR 2 THEN PLEASE READ THIS. PSVR 2 is well worth the price and here’s why. The original PSVR was $400 at launch, which would be $470 today with inflation and that was for the headset only. You then had to buy the camera and move controllers separately, the camera was a further $50 and the move controllers were a further $100 for a pair, taking the price of the full package to $550. Therefore; making the price around $635 today when you included inflation, which actually makes PSVR 2 around $85 cheaper than its predecessor. Plus, when the original PSVR launched, it was pretty weak specs wise when compared to its PC counterparts, whereas the PSVR 2 is genuinely a state of the art headset, with eye tracking, 4k HDR OLED lenses and haptic feedback in the headset, plus the controllers are also state of the art, with haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and finger touch recognition. PSVR 2’s biggest competition, i.e. the Meta Quest 2 has none of those features and is nowhere near powerful enough to compete with PSVR 2 graphically either and that’s $500 for the 250GB model. Although Meta have released an upgrade, i.e. the Meta Quest Pro, a headset that definitely comes closer to PSVR 2, that headset costs $1500 alone, which is $400 more than both a PS5 and a PSVR 2 headset combined, $500 more if you go for the PS5 digital edition. Plus; although there are VR headsets out there available for PC, which are definitely capable of competing with (and even surpassing) PSVR 2, you would need at least $2000-$3000 for a capable enough PC and then another $1200-$1500 for a high-end headset, most of which don’t have the PSVR 2’s tech currently, i.e. headset haptics, eye tracking and foliated rendering; nor do they have controllers with haptic feedback or adaptive triggers. Therefore; anyone who says PSVR 2 is too expensive, clearly knows very little about the VR market; so if you’re excited about PSVR 2 and are thinking about getting it, don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. The only downside is the lack of backwards compatibility, because in my opinion the original PSVR has one of the best game libraries around, therefore it’s unfortunate that all those games won’t just carry strait over to PSVR 2. Unfortunately this is due to the huge difference in tracking systems. The original PSVR used light tracking, which used an external camera to track the players movements, whereas PSVR 2 uses inside-out tracking, where the cameras are actually built into the handset itself, which tends to be much more accurate. However; many developers have already stated that they want to bring their original PSVR games across to PSVR 2 (hopefully with enhancements) and most of those developers are offering a free upgrade, to anyone who bought their game on the original PSVR, so I would expect nearly all of the best titles to make their way over to the new headset. Plus; the tracking system used in PSVR 2 is now the industry standard, therefore I doubt backwards compatibility will ever be a problem again. I know most people would prefer the headset to be wireless, but in my humble opinion Sony made the right decision going for a single lightweight cable. Had Sony tried to make it a wireless standalone headset like the Quest 2, we’d have very little chance of getting quality games, because Sony would have to mandate that all games work both standalone and connected, meaning developers would have to prioritise a weak mobile chipset. The mobile chipset in the Quest 2 the biggest reason VR games have stagnated, because there just isn’t enough power available to make good AAA quality games, Sony know this which is why they’ve gone with a single cable. They also couldn’t go for a wireless streaming option either, because Sony are a pug and play console company, could you imagine the uproar we’d have, if people bought PSVR 2 home and then found out that they then needed to go out and buy a brand new Wi-Fi 6 router and ensure that they’ve got gigabyte Internet, just to be able to use it. Plus the headset would’ve needed additional components to manufacture, which would have pushed the price up even further, at least another $100-$200 and people are already complaining about the price. VR has come a long way since the original PSVR launched and PSVR 2 is not just a generational leap, it’s more like a three or four times generational leap and it’s priced appropriately for where Sony want it to be, a budget entry into AAA, VR gaming, which is currently only available on PC for thousands of dollars. Plus; Sony have a genuine plan to take VR mainstream this generation, by creating hybrid games and they’ve also made it much easier for other AAA developers to port their existing games into VR. Therefore; we are much more likely to get many more full length AAA games this generation, because developers can sell their games to both the traditional gamers and VR gamers, for the same single development cost. P.S. if you find out you suffer from VR sickness, you can work through it with a little effort. There’s a VR UA-camr who’s wife suffered severely from motion sickness, but she loved VR so much she was determined to get over it. She simply played a little bit every day until she started feeling a little sick then stopped and she didn’t try to play through it. Genuinely; never try to play through it, because it will only get worse. She then continued the pattern daily, playing for longer and longer sessions and now she plays as much if not more than him and she doesn’t suffer at all any more. So if the worst happens, you can overcome it.
Great information! Thank you for watching. I’m working on video re VR sickness and go into a lot of detail there in how to manage it. Look out for it soon.
Hey@@Lk77ful ! Yeah they made the most of what they had available but it definitely wasn’t designed from the ground up with VR in mind when they made the move controllers.
I honestly dont have the money to drop on the PSVR2. But, I just ordered a PSVR bundle for $120. Haven’t been able to explore VR so figured it would be a good start to see if I want to get PSVR2 some point in the future!
Good idea! Make sure you pick up some of the games with free upgrades to PSVR2. Would be cool to go from the old version of the game to experiencing the PSVR2 version!
Great video I pre ordered my psvr2 and I've been watching so many videos on information about it to prepare myself so far this video was the most useful like I liked.
I had family club together for my 40th for the psvr. Right now the psvr2 does seem expensive. However compairing the camera/controllersand aim price at the time to the psvr2 with its upgrades now. I've just brought the psvr2 due to this review of real life cost. I've just sold my psvr set for £60 so the psvr is costing £470 and hopefully another 6 yrs of fun games!
Hey Baz! Glad the breakdown helped you justify to yourself and/or the family buying a new toy! 😅 As you said it does seem expensive when some is thinking of it as an extra controller or accessory that’s more expensive than the PS5 but in the world of VR this is such great value it’s not funny! So simple to get into it too, get PS5 get this and your good to go. I can’t believe how many games we’re seeing already! Any games you have from PSVR that you’re going to try on this first?
I used amazon and ebay to get the psvr camera and controller for only 10$ for the cam and controller the psvr was only 100$ but the amazon gift card made it 20$ which in total is 40$
Great job. Thanks so much. However, the list should be 21 differences long , because you missed a (lone) negative change; PSVR2 now lacks a volume/mute control. An ASTONISHING decision on their part! I can't see how that would have cost much money. Or did they forget(!) ?
Good call out! Software mute and volume instead? If I was wearing my 3D Pulse headset I’d just do it from there I guess. I’ve since discovered 1 more negative for some, that 3D movie support is also missing so I guess 22 but I’m sure there are more we’ll find as time goes on! Thank you for watching!
So hyped for PSVR 2. Not sure when I'll be able to pick it up but I'm hoping sometime this year either in the summer or most likely holiday. Great informative video BTW. Quick and straight to the points with nothing but facts
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback!! Well the longer you wait the more opportunity to pick games up on sale in the mean time and there will be more games to choose from. It’ll will also give devs the chance to apply any patches to iron out any bugs or add improvement to the games.
@@LovingTechLife also another good thing too. I'm also a big physical collector and I'm also waiting on news for physical releases like Horizon Call of the Mountain Dark Pictures Switchback and a couple other small games down the line and of course to see how common it is for devs to physically release stuff. PSVR 1 was the 1st VR experience I've had ( managed to get it sealed and very cheap with everything in it couple months ago and I'm loving it. Walmart had to go in the back cause here in Canada, I'm pretty sure VR is not as big cause apparently barely anyone was buying it , so they stored everything in the back , thank god I told them to check cause 249 CAD Dollars with the controllers , camera , box and everything is an amazing deal . Seeing PSVR 2 is what made me get PSVR 1 now, not only to finally have it in my collection and finally collect games for it etc , but I do want to see the differences and what I was missing out, so far even with the limitations PSVR 1 had compared to others that I seen on UA-cam , still impressed. Sold on VR cause of it. Except this time I'm not gonna be waiting a whole gen and a half to get the next PSVR lol this time I'm fully sold on this technology)
From what I have heard, is that the biggest thing hurting the PSVR2 in comparison to the PSVR is the games. PSVR just had a ton more games. I don't know this from any research, but that is what I heard from another channel. I love the PSVR 1 though. I still have a big backlog to play through.
Hey @EDFCentral ! The problem isn’t really the quantity of games or even the quality there’s lots of good games for the PSVR2. The main issue is the lack of AAA Sony developed titles and support and AAA titles from other developers.
Was taking a risk there hoping people didn’t just leave the video in disgust 😅 Thanks for the feedback and the Sub, really appreciate it! Exciting times for PSVR2! 👍🏻👊🏻
The biggest flaw that will make me wait for the PSVR 3 is that there's no 360 degree angle view!! But the rest of all features are just mindblowingly awesome!!
@@LovingTechLife Is the channel name a pun on you surname? Curious. There's a difference in pronunciation of both but maybe still. This headset seems eons ahead of the first iteration. But then again, half of the accessories weren't meant for it. I liked that part of the video where you mentioned all this information because I didn't cross my mind that they came before the VR craze and Sony adapted a helmet for what they already had existing, meaning the camera and wands.
Yes channel name is a pun on my surname with 2 meanings :-) Yeah amazing what Sony managed to pull together to make their VR work and how successful it was!
@@LovingTechLife Thanks for all the answers. I made a different, separate comment about how you don't blink but compared to me, you are looking into the camera when shooting, so yeah lol. It's nothing bad obviously, just very interesting how many creators vary vastly in their delivery :).
There are many factors that affect real-cost. Inflation is one of them, but also the level of household income, as well as allocation of those funds for a particular good. This type of analysis is difficult, and must not only consider present day circumstances (eg. inflation, disposable income, etc), but future forecasting when setting a final price.
@@LovingTechLife I think you're initial intuition was spot on. Which is to say more generally, that we cannot assume because the comparative dollar value is higher, that the cost is higher. It looks to be rather similar to PSVR1's "real price" given the economic climate (at least in the US). Some other musings, for fun: The good news, is that demand (as affected by price) is likely to be similar to PSVR1, but the reception is significantly grander, the quality higher, the library more promising, and the lifespan, longer. PS5 has yet to sell as many units as PS4 when PSVR1 launched (32M units vs 53M units), but PSVR2 is relatively early to market, launching a mere 2.25years into the PS5's lifespan vs PSVR1's launching 3 years into the PS4 lifespan. PS5 unit sales will likely have caught and surpassed those of PS4 by November 2023, with an established install base of PSVR2 units between now and then (iirc: I think Sony has produced some 2M). I fully expect PSVR2 to do better than PSVR1 in the market. But there's other great news. The hardware design strongly hints toward VR-Modes for flat or hybrid games, as it makes is easy for developers to get similar performance from their "flat" games compared to their vr-modes -- one of the reasons GT7 and RE8 look so good. I could go into some detail, but suffice to say, that this parity reduces cost of 'porting' a title, meaning we should see more games like GT7, RE8, No Man's Sky VR. The caveat is that this would likely be limited to games that work at steady 60fps, which thankfully, is the cultural norm during this generation. I believe this is good for the industry, that has been starved for AAA content, and should provide a nice "perk" to PCVR gamers, which will undoubtedly see these types of releases on Steam. My last point is somewhat controversial: The last hurdle is for developers to disassociate "VR" with "first-person." 3rd person works wonderfully in VR, and there are tons of games, and RPGs that would be a fine fit given this perspective. Games like Sifu, demon souls, bloodborne, god of war, etc, would be a glove fit for VR, retaining 3rd person vantage, facilitated by an optional "snap turn" camera for added comfort, and "snap first-person" for aiming of range weapons. Games that feature heavy shooting (eg. Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, etc) may not work well without a serious overhaul to aiming. This doesn't apply to all games, but there are a number of games that would significantly benefit from the VR treatment. I would _love_ to play a game like Housemarque's Alienation or Nex Machina in VR.
Really appreciate all this info, gave me some new insight into the PSVR2 I hadn’t considered before and you make some really good points. Not only are some games targeting 60fps in some cases they are targeting 120fps so that opens the field even more. With regards to third person VR games are there any examples of titles out there? What about Moss or something like Demeo? You win comment of the week! 🏆😅
@@LovingTechLife Hah! Comment of the week! That brought me a smile! :) Yes, there are some great examples, though few. As mentioned, and including: - Moss Book 1/2 (ALL) are solid. - Astrobot Rescue Mission (PSVR1) is oft regarded as one of VRs best games -- having played it, I agree. - Edge of Nowhere (PCVR) jumps out as something interesting - Chonos (PCVR), an oft-cited game - Demeo (PCVR, PSVR2, Quest) seems really great as a table-top RPG. - Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice (PCVR) also looks interesting - Trover Saves the Universe (PSVR, Quest) The interesting thing about 3rd person is that it retains gameplay from traditional games, impossible in a 1:1 VR first person. The character can turn around in an instance, do back-flips, perform roundhouse kicks, etc. 3rd person also lends itself to cinematic storytelling.
so in terms of how the jump in experience feels does it feel (in terms many of us will have experienced) like jumping from a PS4 console to a PS5 or more of a marked difference like jumping from a PS3 to a PS5
Thanks for watching Enoch! Personally I think it's will be an even bigger jump than PS3 to PS5. Considering how much better the visuals are and how the haptic feedback along changes the immersion then pile on that the eye tracking etc. This is a BIG jump!
There ist another Difference: Unfortunately no 3D Movies on Psvr2 in contrast to psvr1. But the reason is the ps5 since it does not play 3D blurays. But i guess for most users it does not really matter. Maybe there will be an update to fix this issue...
Good pickup! Everything I read didn’t even mention this. Wasn’t until I released this video that I learnt about it. It’d be a cool feature but I doubt we’ll see it considering most have moved on from 3D being a thing for a while now.
so for the vr 2, can i turn around in any direction in the game without being in same position or press buttons to turn around, like in iron man ps vr?
Hey @@guardianprime437 ! Firstly the answer is yes you can turn around anyway you like because the tracking is in the cameras on the headset. Iron Man PS VR has not been ported to PSVR2 as far as I know so wouldn’t work with it.
@@LovingTechLife actually no this will be my first vr headset im so excited i tried the quest 2 that my brother had and played the walking dead it was awsome cant wait for a even better experience
Great job with this video! I only have a couple minor nitpicks, but generally the info was spot on. The first is that PSVR 1 actually had 3D audio. You're right that it wasn't something the PS4 was designed to provide, but 3D audio processing was actually done by the breakout box that came with the PSVR 1. The 3D audio architecture of the PSVR 1 probably shares some DNA with the Tempest 3D audio tech that's built into the PS5. The second point is even more minor, but it's that the PSVR 1 (and all other headsets) could do a form of pseudo-foveated rendering typically called "fixed foveated rendering." Since it doesn't have eye tracking, it just renders the center of each eye's image at full clarity, with the resolution diminishing the further you get from the center. Unlike the true foveated rendering (or "dynamic foveated rendering") of the PSVR 2, you could notice fixed foveated rendering if you looked around with your eyes instead of moving your head to keep your focus forward. So the PSVR 2's version is definitely a big improvement. Still, fantastic job! Gave it a thumbs up and subbed! Keep it up! 👍
I should say that the psvr2 is way 100 times better than the psvr1 because they added passthrough mode just like the oculus quest 2, also the differences between the controllers, the psvr2 controllers are better because they added rings so that you can make the controller stand up, the psvr1 doesn’t have rings on it, also what PlayStation should’ve added on the psvr2 controllers is the D-Pad. Also they added IPD adjustment so that you can switch IPD adjustment on the lenses to fix the distance of your eyes for a comfortable experience. I’m proud of PlayStation for making better improvements for the PSVR2
Just bought a psvr for $60 for the whole kit used and I had to buy a ps5 adapter for $20 because sonys support for a free PS5 adapter online is no longer available sadly
@@LovingTechLife thanks for the fantastic video and I really hope that's the case because I can't get it right at launch but shortly after I will be picking this up for sure.
VR is nothing unless it recognizes all FPS games. This is proof that noone bought it. There are more important issues like consoles needing full keyboard and mouse support for all offline games.
First off, Great vid, have a sub. I don't see any reason that all games can't be made compatible with a VR Headset using regular controls with no head tracking and 1 screen veiw point per eye, giving the player 3D depth perception, if it isn't going to be adapted into a true VR title then why not? It wouldn't be a true VR Experience, more like a 3D Monitor on your head, but surely something like that should be possible and not too hard to implement?
Hey Tex! Appreciate the feedback and the sub! 👍🏻 I hear what you’re saying but do you think that Sony are going to let people use the headset with software that really doesn’t do the hardware justice? Both in terms of the power of the PS5 and the VR headset & control features?
I'm more surprised that no one seems to have even thought of using a VR Headset in such a way, am I missing something that makes it impossible? if it's a choice between having a limited VR Experience on all games or True VR Experience on a small selection, I'd go with being able to use the hardware on any game I choose, imagine if you bought a brand new expensive 3D monitor that only worked on selected games, that's my thoughts anyway.
Maybe if it was an open platform on a PC but Sony are not inclined to provide a lesser experience to confuse their customers. Well at least that’s the impression I get. Sometimes just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.
There's a few things I want for PSVR2 First I would like the option to play with the regular duelsense control instead of having to come out of a long day of work and then have to flail my tired noodle arms 🍜 all over the place,😏😔 next it would be phenomenal if we can play non VR games in stereo scopic 3d. So much more I want like it would be good to know that we already own several games that will secretly have VR modes available like Resident Evil 8 Ghost Wire Tokyo,, Cyberpunk, Rachet and Clank GTA5??? also it would be awesome if we could export UA-cam videos in full VR and finally there are so many flat games from the past that would do really well in VR like the entire Bioshock series the Fallout series How many PSVR2 systems would sell with a proper Call of Duty game COMMON SENSE SONY!!! 4 of my favorite games of all time starting with TITAN FALL 1 and 2, TIME SPLITTERS needs a remake RED FACTION GUERRILLA is too important to be forgotten by the industry and needs a remake and finally a game that undeniably has been forgotten but in my opinion is the best in the series GRAND THEFT AUTO 4. IF I can afford it I will be a day 1 owner of PSVR2 no matter what but I would love to see 1 thing from this list happen or all of it would make me a very happy person
I hear you! Great wish list there, some of that stuff would be an amazing experience. Imagine controlling Titans from the inside in VR! Titan fall 2 campaign was so good. Well at least Resident Evil 8 has been confirmed 👍🏻
As LTL said, Resident Evil 8 is getting a free patch on PSVR 2's launch day to make the full campaign playable in VR (not the DLC yet though). Same with Gran Turismo 7. No Man's Sky is also getting a similar patch, but it's been delayed into March. I'd expect more games to get similar treatment. Ghostwire Tokyo and Cyberpunk 2077 in particular would both be phenomenal! As for playing with the Dualsense, some games allow this, but it depends on the game. Gran Turismo 7 definitely does, as people have previewed it on PSVR 2 with the Dualsense. It actually doesn't use the VR controllers at all (it requires a Dualsense or a racing wheel). For some games it wouldn't be practical though, like Horizon Call of the Mountain, since the gameplay is entirely designed around the VR controllers. That said, even games like Horizon can be played sitting down, so you can at least get off your feet. There is info in the PS Store about which controllers are supported in each game, as well as the VR play styles supported (seated, standing, and roomscale where you have to walk around a bit). Totally agree about stereoscopic 3D support for PSVR 2's cinema mode, but it doesn't seem likely. I think that if developers went to the trouble of making their game work with stereoscopic 3D, they'd just go slightly farther and implement a basic VR mode. Who knows though. At very least, I hope Sony patches in 3D Blu-ray support, and developers add graphics options to maximize PSVR 2's cinema mode (like 1080p at 120 fps, or 90 fps with ray tracing).
My 2020 Iron Man bundle came with move controllers, camera, & even the camera adapter for PS5 & they sold for $200 at gamestop. Last ditch effort to sell the rest of the stock I guess
@@LovingTechLife yea, unfortunately I had to buy mine in 2023 from ebay, open box but clearly never used, as the description stated they were looking for internal damage, all cords wrapped perfectly in their plastic still, for $210. Still a great deal, they go for $300 sealed now. Now onto the $600 upgrade!
@@LovingTechLife allegedly there’s not really any more support for the new 1 I would like the better screen with the old one with the already existing games and etc.
The experience and performance for PSVR1 on PS5 is identical to PS4 because it’s essentially just running in PS4 mode without enhancements. The PSVR1 games that have a free or paid upgrade will have PSVR2 enhancements and look and run way better. Do you already have a lot of PSVR1 only games?
I never hear anyone frame the description of VR like that and it's not always made clear that the game in question is a VR game all this works against VR being popularized by the mainstream. I watched a half hour long video on No Man's Sky and the person was describing the journey the game took from it's announcement to the game it is today and he brought up so many good things but he completely left out the VR update for PC and PSVR. I guess he might have been playing on Xbox or something. But even PlayStation themselves sometimes make it difficult to know if a game has VR capabilities when it should be clearly advertised on every menu and piece of software they sell there needs to be hype on every front so I ask if you are reading this and the 3 previous messages I just wrote please turn my words into a video and share it on your channel and everywhere you can
@@LovingTechLifeYou're so welcome on the FB. I'm late to the party. Lol Just bought my first PS5 Slim last week. Really thinking about PSVR2 in the next month or so. Never owned the orginal PSVR .
@@LovingTechLife With the PSVR2. From what i understood in other vids is that you will only need to connect ur psvr2 and ur ps5 with a monitor once and after everything is installed and ready to go you wont need a monitor anymore ever but maybe i got it wrong
@@LovingTechLife cinematic mode in Psvr2 is 1080p, I’m excited for even tho I have the inzone m9. Regular vr games are 4k(if able) probably not because quest 2 is the benchmark for most devs so most games won’t be 4k except for 1st party Sony games.
I’m doing a video on all the PSVR games getting free upgrades to PSVR2 and so far all getting major graphical upgrades so I think you’ll see increased resolution in the majority of PSVR2 titles. If they are already going to the trouble of headset and controller haptics a resolution bump is a piece of cake. Many are going well beyond this and increasing graphical effects and textures too.
Question on the IPD, can you get a tape measure and measure the max distance between the centre of the lense frames? Not knowing what the max IPD setting, is a deal breaker for me. I have a large IPD, 75mm, and I need it to be over 70mm. I have a Pimax 8KX which goes to 70mm manual, and has extra with software and large sweet spots in the lenses. I can't use Quest, Reverb G2, or Vive Pro 2, there IPD settings are too small. I find it frustrating that they don't make headsets with a large IPD range, the old Vive and Vive Pro went to 74mm, and I don't understand why manufacturers keep stopping at max 68mm.
I can and will however I have bought Ana paid for my own PSVR2 and have to wait for it to release just like everyone else 😀 I can measure it up once I get my hands on it though!
How come nobody complains about a damn iphone being over $1k... Ps hardware is fairly priced. Even when you pay a scalper its still worth it. Go a head and spend $1600 on a crappy phone I will go with ps products.
Yes until first time VR players of the PSVR2 get used to VR and reduce the chances of yanking that thing right out of there we’re going to see plenty of broken cables! 😅
Now that the PSVR2 has been out a while the whole “true price” point is a moving target since you can get both second hand. Sounds like you’re still getting great use out of the original?
Hey Jose, if you are asking about PSVR2 then no not at this stage. This is one of the differences I missed while making the video. Thanks for watching!!
@@LovingTechLife oh I laughed because what were they thinking with those moves controllers. They could've at least put a joystick on them. Lol I have the PSVR and it was fun but annoying to set up so it's been in a box for some time now. Everything you mentioned are big differences though.
@@sidney1234usc The Move controllers were originally designed to compete against the Nintendo Wii, since they originally came out on the PS3. And yeah, it's long since time they were retired.
Very informative video. The 3D audio that you mentioned, do you know if this is something that we must have Sony's headphones for, or will I be able to experience same audio if I plug in my HyperX Cloud II headset?
It does work with any headphones, EXCEPT Bluetooth ones. Since your HyperX Cloud II's are wired, you could just plug them into the 3.5mm headphone jack on the headset itself. My only concern would be that they might not fit well with the headband of the PSVR 2, but they don't look much bigger than the Pulse 3D (which fit just fine), so hopefully it works.
Hey @hawkwood! I know right! I seem to have edited out any blinking and got caught up reading or just getting the info out when I made this one. Since making this I have made extra effort to blink in my other videos 😅
PSVR 2 uses a new style of fresnel lenses. Sony filed patents years ago for a type of fresnel lens that reduces or eliminates god rays/glare. Most people who've played it said they didn't see any god rays or glare. The only one who said he did was Nathie, and I think that could be caused by him having a super narrow face which allowed light to leak in past the facial interface. I've watched dozens of hands-on impressions, made by everyone from the VR hating mainstream gaming press, to PSVR enthusiasts, to Quest 2 focused VR channels. They were all impressed. Nathie's the only one who mentioned god rays. I don't think it'll be an issue. I've got plenty of criticism for Sony, but they're not dumb enough to put an HDR OLED panel (designed for high contrast) in a headset with lenses that get god rays (primarily a problem for high contrast images). Besides, look at how many people are complaining about PSVR 2's price. They had to cut corners somewhere to even get it down to this price point.
@Shades - Legend, thanks for providing the info. I did see the Sony patents a while ago on the Fresnel lenses and sounds like they are getting good results with their changes.

Nice, no BS video without annoying / obnoxious editing. Gets to the point, well researched. Will keep an eye on this channel.

Only 4 minutes into the video, but I have to say you did a brilliant job with this!
Well done, glad your getting some great views on this as well
Thanks mate! 🙏🏻
Means a lot coming from the master!
I do think people have overblown the price, but calling it a bargain is ridiculous.
Awesome video buddy , looking forward to picking up VR2 next Wk
Thanks Mate! Certainly is exciting times! What games will you play first?
I feel like a dick for buying a vr2 case lol.
I really dont mind that vr2 is available. Geting ps5 was impossible. If they dont want it its their loss.

You have hit the on the head with the goal of my content. 👍🏻👊🏻
You've done a great job in covering topics that are not covered elsewhere. Here's one: The PSVR2 seems to be able to toggle eye-tracking off, but what the experience is remains to be reported. Namely:
1) How noticeable is foveated rendering when eye-tracking is turned off?
2) is performance negatively impacted when eye-tracking is turned off?
3) When eye-tracking is off, looking at the social screen, is the foveated region larger or smaller than the eye-tracked foveated region?
I have been in contact with individuals that suffer from involuntary eye movements (nystagmus) and as such fail the eye-tracking calibration. It would also be interesting to know exactly how this impacts overall gaming in a general sense.
I like it, when I have time to do some testing I’ll see what I can find out. It may be a while before any potential content comes from it depending on how all that goes.
I’m not tripping over 5 friggin’ cords. I’m already paying less to my local emergency room. Worth it!

My PSVR absolutely had 3D audio...and I swear I could adjust my lenses.
Also...never had any fog problems with my PSVR or Quest 2.
You are right the PS4 had an older version of 3D audio tech just not the tempest 3D audio of the PS5 which I learned from the comments of this video 👍🏻
Thanks for watching RonZombie91!
Yes, you could adjust your lenses, but it was done through software within the PSVR and PS4. It wasn't done through hardware like the PSVR2 is.
Can't wait! PSVR 2! Bringing back AAA VR Gaming!
So good! Thanks for watching! 👍🏻👊🏻
Look out for it soon.
what was bothering me with the psvr1 is the absence of joysticks on the moves, you needed the dualshock to navigate the ps home menu
Hey@@Lk77ful ! Yeah they made the most of what they had available but it definitely wasn’t designed from the ground up with VR in mind when they made the move controllers.
One thing I don't like about the V.R two is you need the internet to update it. And most of the games are not physical disk. They're digital.
I hate being tied to the internet for gaming. I know we are in the minority but money is tight!
I had so much fun with my PSVR back then. PSVR2 surely is dope af.
😎
I honestly dont have the money to drop on the PSVR2. But, I just ordered a PSVR bundle for $120. Haven’t been able to explore VR so figured it would be a good start to see if I want to get PSVR2 some point in the future!
Good idea! Make sure you pick up some of the games with free upgrades to PSVR2. Would be cool to go from the old version of the game to experiencing the PSVR2 version!
Great video I pre ordered my psvr2 and I've been watching so many videos on information about it to prepare myself so far this video was the most useful like I liked.
Thank you for watching, I appreciate the great feedback!! 🙏🏻
As you said it does seem expensive when some is thinking of it as an extra controller or accessory that’s more expensive than the PS5 but in the world of VR this is such great value it’s not funny! So simple to get into it too, get PS5 get this and your good to go. I can’t believe how many games we’re seeing already! Any games you have from PSVR that you’re going to try on this first?
Really good video for dude 👍🏻 especially for such a small channel
Glad you think so! 👍🏻👊🏻
I used amazon and ebay to get the psvr camera and controller for only 10$ for the cam and controller the psvr was only 100$ but the amazon gift card made it 20$ which in total is 40$
Hey Reactmapi! Yeah now is a great time to get the original PSVR for super cheap if you’re willing to look for them!
The fact its not backwards compatible makes it not worth it for me
So hyped for PSVR 2.
Except this time I'm not gonna be waiting a whole gen and a half to get the next PSVR lol this time I'm fully sold on this technology)
it's 2K (2040p) per eye, not 4k per eye, huge difference though
Yep! Thank you for watching Elbee 👍🏻👊🏻
You had me worried for a second there at the start lol. Excellent video. Thank you for being a good reporter. Subbed.
Cannot wait for psvr2.
Was taking a risk there hoping people didn’t just leave the video in disgust 😅

The biggest flaw that will make me wait for the PSVR 3 is that there's no 360 degree angle view!! But the rest of all features are just mindblowingly awesome!!
Let’s be honest you’re really just going to wait until we’re in the same world as Ready Player One 😅

Yes channel name is a pun on my surname with 2 meanings :-)
Yeah amazing what Sony managed to pull together to make their VR work and how successful it was!
Thanks Sean, makes sense!
@@LovingTechLife I think you're initial intuition was spot on. Which is to say more generally, that we cannot assume because the comparative dollar value is higher, that the cost is higher. It looks to be rather similar to PSVR1's "real price" given the economic climate (at least in the US).
Some other musings, for fun:
The good news, is that demand (as affected by price) is likely to be similar to PSVR1, but the reception is significantly grander, the quality higher, the library more promising, and the lifespan, longer.
Yes, there are some great examples, though few. As mentioned, and including:
- Moss Book 1/2 (ALL) are solid.
- Astrobot Rescue Mission (PSVR1) is oft regarded as one of VRs best games -- having played it, I agree.
- Edge of Nowhere (PCVR) jumps out as something interesting
- Chonos (PCVR), an oft-cited game
- Demeo (PCVR, PSVR2, Quest) seems really great as a table-top RPG.
- Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice (PCVR) also looks interesting
- Trover Saves the Universe (PSVR, Quest)
The interesting thing about 3rd person is that it retains gameplay from traditional games, impossible in a 1:1 VR first person. The character can turn around in an instance, do back-flips, perform roundhouse kicks, etc. 3rd person also lends itself to cinematic storytelling.
I’ve always believed that PSVR original is and has been more expensive than the PSVR 2
You might be in the minority there but it’s interesting the perception out there. Thanks for watching!
I have the first psvr and have had it for so many years but have only used it once cause of the really bad motion sickness it gave me lol
Im going to have a video coming up that will about helping situations like this :-)
so in terms of how the jump in experience feels does it feel (in terms many of us will have experienced) like jumping from a PS4 console to a PS5 or more of a marked difference like jumping from a PS3 to a PS5
Thanks for watching Enoch! Personally I think it's will be an even bigger jump than PS3 to PS5. Considering how much better the visuals are and how the haptic feedback along changes the immersion then pile on that the eye tracking etc. This is a BIG jump!
There ist another Difference:
Unfortunately no 3D Movies on Psvr2 in contrast to psvr1.

@@LovingTechLife yea i never tried the psvr tho
Yeah I think PSVR2 versions will be some of the best out there!
Keep it up! 👍
Thanks for watching and subbing Shades! I always learn something new with your comments. Keep 'em coming!
I love when recording on the psvr2 its like pcvr and on the og psvr it had a fisheye filter
Hey @Gga688 ! Such a big jump in tech between generations.
Hey FireDiamond! PSVR2 is awesome 😎
Good Video, cant wait until 22nd
Thanks for watching Sasch!! Exciting times!
Just bought a psvr for $60 for the whole kit used and I had to buy a ps5 adapter for $20 because sonys support for a free PS5 adapter online is no longer available sadly
More informative than Sony themselves 👌
Great feedback and thanks for watching!
Hopefully they have them in stock shortly after launch
Fortunately this looks like one situation where scalpers won’t win out over demand.
Thanks for watching!
@@LovingTechLife thanks for the fantastic video and I really hope that's the case because I can't get it right at launch but shortly after I will be picking this up for sure.
Awesome!
VR is nothing unless it recognizes all FPS games. This is proof that noone bought it.
There are more important issues like consoles needing full keyboard and mouse support for all offline games.
I’d be interested to see how COD would translate to VR
Great video well done. The subs will come with quality of this standard, keep it up man :)
Much appreciated tillbot8! Thank you for watching 😀
I hear what you’re saying but do you think that Sony are going to let people use the headset with software that really doesn’t do the hardware justice?
Sometimes just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.
good job bro
Thanks for watching 420! 👍🏻👊🏻
What a great deal!
Wow very detailed video. Earned a sub.
Thank you for watching! Appreciate the feedback! 👍🏻👊🏻
Is it possible to take a psvr2 screen and put it in the original psvr1
Hey Kiara! It’d be no easy task. Why would you want to?
@@LovingTechLife allegedly there’s not really any more support for the new 1 I would like the better screen with the old one with the already existing games and etc.
@@LovingTechLife not to mention that you can use the old one on the PS5 so I wonder if the output would be any different
But even PlayStation themselves sometimes make it difficult to know if a game has VR capabilities when it should be clearly advertised on every menu and piece of software they sell there needs to be hype on every front so I ask if you are reading this and the 3 previous messages I just wrote please turn my words into a video and share it on your channel and everywhere you can
I’ll do my best to spread the word :-)
You check this video out recently? Sold me on No Mans Sky for VR 🤯
ua-cam.com/video/kPaiML7PNCA/v-deo.html
Yeah the concept is mind blowing even before it got VR support
I'll wait until the hype is over and they go on sale.
This is what I normally do. Thanks for watching!
Can’t wait to receive my pre order, I’m so looking forward to the increase in resolution. PSVR (1) was way to blurry for my liking
That's awesome! Yeah the blurry visuals of the PSVR put me off investing in it before. Thanks for watching!
A most informative and knowledgeable review!! Thanks!! 👍🖖
Hey Gatchaman! Thank you for the great feedback. Do you already have the original PSVR and are you considering a PSVR2?
@@LovingTechLifeYou're so welcome on the FB. I'm late to the party. Lol Just bought my first PS5 Slim last week. Really thinking about PSVR2 in the next month or so. Never owned the orginal PSVR .
What’s crazy is if you have a shitty tv or monitor or someone else wants to use the tv, you have a 1080 screen in vr
With the PSVR2 or the Original PSVR?
@@LovingTechLife With the PSVR2. From what i understood in other vids is that you will only need to connect ur psvr2 and ur ps5 with a monitor once and after everything is installed and ready to go you wont need a monitor anymore ever but maybe i got it wrong
Yeah I believe that’s the case but was wondering if it was a 1080p or 4K display for the PSVR2 :-)
I can and will however I have bought Ana paid for my own PSVR2 and have to wait for it to release just like everyone else 😀
I can measure it up once I get my hands on it though!
How come nobody complains about a damn iphone being over $1k... Ps hardware is fairly priced. Even when you pay a scalper its still worth it. Go a head and spend $1600 on a crappy phone I will go with ps products.
😅
Dude doesn't blink damn ...
Yeah it’s my superpower 😅
i was lucky to get my move controllers on ebay for ONLY 25 bucks and they were new
Hey Charles! That’s great, you landed an awesome deal there! 👍🏻
Good vid. Consise and knowledgeable. Gained a sub.
Thanks so much!! 👍🏻👊🏻
Great vid. Preordered. Can't wait!!
Awesome thanks for the feedback! Exciting times :-)
They should add more durability to its cable.
Yes until first time VR players of the PSVR2 get used to VR and reduce the chances of yanking that thing right out of there we’re going to see plenty of broken cables! 😅
@@LovingTechLife 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The answer is "Yes" its worth it people.
😎
Really good video.
Thank you for watching Daj! Appreciate the feedback!
Okay, NOW it's worth it to get a PS5!
Thanks for watching Barafu! Boom, let's go!!
awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching Abdullah!
Cool vid. Subbed 👍
Thanks for watching! Appreciate it!! 👍🏻👊🏻
PSVR1 is more confortable
Hey Pyke! That’s interesting. Have you tried the Globular Cluster comfort mod for the PSVR2?
@@LovingTechLife I've ordered! Can't wait to test it!
great video, i subbed
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Didn’t mention the true price difference if buying today.
Move controls work better than you think.
Now that the PSVR2 has been out a while the whole “true price” point is a moving target since you can get both second hand. Sounds like you’re still getting great use out of the original?
Don't forget to blink your eye's.
I wasn’t watching out for that. How many blinks in this video? 😅
Girlfriend has a ps5 and has the ps4 vr headset is it still worth to upgrade to the ps5 vr head set in general
200% in my opinion
@@LovingTechLife yes
I live in Canada and the PS VR One is 600 and the PS VR two is 700
Hey Andrew! Wow hardly any difference! You getting PSVR 2?
@@LovingTechLife my bad I rechecked it’s 800 to 1000 500 to 800 and 1000 there’s a difference
No worries 👍🏻
Great video
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏻
Did you mention foveated rendering
Hey @Digitalcataloghub! Absolutely, I couldn’t miss one of the best features! See 5:22 in the video :-)
You sneaky, made me click off to another video to see the free upgrades for psvr 2.
😀
DOES THE PSVR LET YOU PLAY 3D MOVIES?
Hey Jose, if you are asking about PSVR2 then no not at this stage. This is one of the differences I missed while making the video.
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for your video
Hey Monsters! You’re welcome. Are you going to get a PSVR2?
The major differences are the controllers and how you plug the headset into the system lol
You laugh but those things are game changers!
For me the quality of the screens is one of the primary selling points.
@@LovingTechLife oh I laughed because what were they thinking with those moves controllers. They could've at least put a joystick on them. Lol I have the PSVR and it was fun but annoying to set up so it's been in a box for some time now. Everything you mentioned are big differences though.
Ah yes understood! 👍🏻👊🏻
@@sidney1234usc The Move controllers were originally designed to compete against the Nintendo Wii, since they originally came out on the PS3. And yeah, it's long since time they were retired.
Thank you
Hey @Ariosam11 ! You’re welcome 👍🏻
Dope video
Thanks for watching! 👍🏻👊🏻
psvr2 has a small library of games
I just wished you blinked:D
I’m practicing for The Dark Pictures Switchback! 😅
See my most recent video for more blinking lol

Very informative video. The 3D audio that you mentioned, do you know if this is something that we must have Sony's headphones for, or will I be able to experience same audio if I plug in my HyperX Cloud II headset?
Works with any stereo headphones.
@@Fizzy-rp2op Thanks.
Thanks for watching @DuxCroTTV and I'll defer to @ Shades of Grey Matter on this one :-)
@@GreyMatterShades oh damn really? I have Bluetooth ones. I thought I could plug them into the ps5 and still work.
In 2016 the psvr2 would've only been $250 according to you're logic lol
Interesting point 😅
Never thought of going backwards with inflation. Does that make the PSVR2 the deal of the century? 😜
@@LovingTechLife the best deal ever 🤣
The original controllers seemed dreadfull. The new one look much better.
Yeah the original controllers were made as a competitor to the Wii motion controllers and then they somehow made them work with VR later.
Theres no doubt that the psvr 1 was trash with their controller and the wired headset as well as the stupid camera
I think it was a good “proof of concept” and showed Sony there was a market for this type of experience.
Jesus dude... BLINK!
Hey @hawkwood! I know right! I seem to have edited out any blinking and got caught up reading or just getting the info out when I made this one. Since making this I have made extra effort to blink in my other videos 😅
Absolutely not worth the upgrade. Psvr1 is very capable and could probably outperform the psvr2 and nearly every way
😂
Thank you for watching!
@@LovingTechLife lol
The use of cheap-o fresnel lenses of the PSVR2 is probably the most disappointing factor for me.
Thanks for watching @bliglum!
@Shades - Legend, thanks for providing the info. I did see the Sony patents a while ago on the Fresnel lenses and sounds like they are getting good results with their changes.
