Jaime Clifton hi jamie. its 3 years old m8 ive got chunky fingers :) I had it serviced because I washed ny hands after going to the bathroom and a tiny amount of water got through the watches crown. my gripe with Breitling is a watch like mine the Superocean chronograph 2 water resistant to 500m should be so easily compromised to water is beyond a joke. the crown wasn't quite done up to Breitlings recommendation (in my opinion thats a joke) a watch used by divers that easily compromised to water bearing in mind its quality :0. A fact! breitling recommend you take your timepiece to a local breitling dealer each year to check its waterproofness at a cost I'm not sure. breitling stockists can with their technology check this for you! do yourself a favour should you choose a expensive watch.... ask your jeweller about servicing and watch care cos believe me their not so impervious to everyday wear bearing in mind the cost of such luxury brands. take care. Tony - ah I see. Yes that does seem a bit crap. I have a rolex and I think they have a second seal that stops low pressure water getting in if the crown isn't fully screwed down.....
If water got in through the crown, it sounds like you left the crown incompletely screwed-down. The high cost of your service would have been due to the water damage - a first routine service would't have cost that much, but yours would have necessitated more than just a strip down and re-lubrication of movement parts.
