Your kitty is doing her job! Floor is looking great! Everything you do on the old homestead is bringing it back to life, no matter how long it takes you to do it. Being patient makes things run smoother. If that old house could talk, it would thank you tremendously for bringing it back to its former glory!
Neat to see. Very similar construction style as my wife's home in Mexico. Raw materials dropped off, family builds the house themselves. Most of the floors done in tile. Very nice.
I am so glad to see you both protecting your knees. I kneeled on a concrete floor at work to unplug some wires. My knee was killing me afterwards and got worse from meniscus.
That looks really good, called the Versailles pattern, a real bugger to get right if you do not keep your mind on the job, I made a sheet up and as I layed a tile my wife ticked it off, the problem was the small square tiles were 3mm thinner, so when I put extra adhesive to bring them level it squirted up through the holes, the pattern is well worth the effort though, nice to see you did it the proper way, laying from the centre line, rare to see that in France! Chris B.
So beautiful house/place you got. Nice floor. Look like a big renovation is going on. Then I can look forward to more great videos. Keep up the God work. Greeting from a Norwegian subscriber/viewer
I've watched all your videos. Outstanding work. Truly rising to the level of the opportunity to save such an amazing piece of history. I wondered why you didn't put in radiant heating tubing during your insulation and screeding phase. I wish I could visit someday.
Great Job !! Installation method correct and meticulously done. You are way above average handy man skill , better than some professionals. I am now sub'd and look forward to more of Your videos.
Good dry pack float, check, good design, check, mixing wand and drill, check, half inch notched trowel, check, no knee pads, no check.... really sore knees. Bare at that! Now that's hard core!
Great effort, the only thing I'd say is use an acrylic primer or SBR instead of PVA as PVA only dries so any water ingress can pop your tiles off and keep your lines going the same direction when raking out your adhesive so they collapse properly and give you good coverage :)
Loving your install!! Question from Canada, we would back-butter the tile here, is that common for you or not? I’m not any kind of professional, just curious. Enjoying the channel and subscribed!
Excellent work. Looks freakin awesome. I just wish that somewhere between the concrete, screed and tile, that you would have put some in-floor heating mat. Electric or some hydronic tubing. There's nothing like radiant floor heating. Great job nonetheless.
Sos un Genio! impresionante trabajo! realmente es todo una perfección. Me encanta verte y verlos! felicitaciones por tanto talento y expertise! 👏👏👏🏆🔝💯💯💯🔝🏆
Really enjoying these videos. I do wish there was some kind of order to watch them in like numbering rather than having to search through all the videos for the next step. Like the concrete floor in the barn I wonder what happened to that. Was the who,e barn done or what. I couldn’t find anything after the concrete ring lintel either.
carlrogers I’ll keep at it, it’s a bit like pot luck, still I never watched Star Wars in any order. The vids are all excellent and I am really enjoying them. The Gers, lovely, La Romieu, Lectoure, ( we hope to have a photography show there soon) Gazapouy, Condom the lovely village of Fleuris and the flower festival, really fond memories of that area and if I moved from Scotland that’s where I would end up. You are living my dream. Best wishes and keep up the great work.

Good job, however, since the support is made of natural stone, it has little absorption, so I give it double gluing, on the floor and on the tile, otherwise very good job, regards
At first, the laying pattern looked odd and somewhat arbitrary. But in the end I find it quite charming! Is it typical for certain regions or has it got a particular name?
I’ve laid countless floors over the years, but would seriously recommend wired underfloor heating before tiling, the way the cost of gas is going it makes sense, is far cheaper to install than piped and extremely efficient to run not to mention no need to service. I love what you guys do but seeing a tiled floor going down on a perfect screed without exploiting underfloor wired heating is I think a wasted opportunity as I sit here in my kitchen, rad less with toasty feet on my tiles. Equally who am I to say, each to their own.
Because of my age and my experiences and my disabilities now can I please ask you to get a good set of knee pads! I thought I never needed pads and did not realize what I was doing to the structure of my knees and it’s natural cushioning . You do not realize how many times I watch you kneeling on rough and hard surfaces just like myself. I wish I had purchased those dumb looking pads back then and save my knees so I could kneel or even walk up or down stairs. !
That's how they are made, polished titles have lots of holes but are filled in with glue and powder. This type has a more rustic feel which suits the farmhouse قفشات الأفلام
The rustic appearance with all the pits is exactly what I like about it. It wouldn’t make sense to install a brand new, high gloss tile in a 300 year old farm house like that.
Yeah this is not a good method of installing tile... at min you should have your trowel marks running vertical all in the same direct so you can collapse the ridges and you need to back butter these large stone tiles. Your coverage is weak bro... but decent job on the layout...
i hope you took the mouse to the vet, it wasnt dead it was just in shock, poor sweetheart. great job, beautiful elegant tiles but why no floor heating?

I like the floor and your chosen pattern. Nice job!

That floor is beautiful 😍

Great to hear that Serge! Thanks for the sub
I have the same tiles in my place in 24. Travertin - looks great.
Good dry pack float, check, good design, check, mixing wand and drill, check, half inch notched trowel, check, no knee pads, no check.... really sore knees. Bare at that! Now that's hard core!
Just look at that 'man grinder'!
Awesome job, looks great.
Thanks Cameron. not sure what you mean by 'man grinder' tho!
I think he means the big cutting disc.
Beautiful flooring! ❤️❤️❤️
I bet by the end of the floor you stopped using that scale like you were baking a cake and just eyeballed the water😂😂😂👍
Wow, that turned out amazing!!!
Great effort, the only thing I'd say is use an acrylic primer or SBR instead of PVA as PVA only dries so any water ingress can pop your tiles off and keep your lines going the same direction when raking out your adhesive so they collapse properly and give you good coverage :)
I'm no tiler but that looks like a really top job 👍😊
Knee pads? A must.

Enjoying the channel and subscribed!
You keep doing such nice work, and you will develope managers elbow.
I'm getting so many tips from your videos - here's one for you... if you don't have 1lt bottles, but you have scales, then 1lt = 1kg.
and how much weighs a liter of Guinness Mr Paul McWater ? ;-)
Excellent work. Looks freakin awesome. I just wish that somewhere between the concrete, screed and tile, that you would have put some in-floor heating mat. Electric or some hydronic tubing. There's nothing like radiant floor heating. Great job nonetheless.
Por fin un gato, haciendo lo que se supone que debe hacer un gato!
Belle le piastrelle e anche la posa! Complimenti🦁🦁
Very nice tiles.

You and your father (i guess it´s your father) are a perfect working team !
Not surprised that you cooked that drill.....I have done the same, then bought an actual mixer for that process..🤣
Truly beautiful.

Hi john, try looking at the playlists on my channel - they should be arranged easier in there :)

Basic rule for concrete, it needs 1 week/ 1cm to dry for surfacing, several months totally.
Nice floor!
very good choice for the tiles....

very useful information, good
your father is a pro!

At 4.50, my drill mixer went the same way, plastic burning smell/overheat. Stopped for dinner, it was fine after!
Good job man .Thanks for the video ...like and subscribe
I like it. I like it a lot.
Very beautiful! Which tiles did you use?
At first, the laying pattern looked odd and somewhat arbitrary. But in the end I find it quite charming! Is it typical for certain regions or has it got a particular name?
Awesome !
Have you noticed a difference with the insulation boards under foot??
I’ve laid countless floors over the years, but would seriously recommend wired underfloor heating before tiling, the way the cost of gas is going it makes sense, is far cheaper to install than piped and extremely efficient to run not to mention no need to service. Important to back butter travertine to fill voids or it will crack cause it's soft
Car channel will keep you updated if it cracks. So far 3 months and no cracks 👍🏼
Car channel bull
I always back but my trav jobs the floor gets more strength from filling the holes at the back of the tile. Less chance of cracking tiles.
carlrogers yeah it WILL fail at some point. Trav is too soft the lack of back butter and improper troweling will lead to failure
back buttering plus sealing the stones before grouting to be sure
Great videos! Love the quality, what is your setup? camera , stabilizer?
The bottom side if the tile needs glue too.
Should always back butter travertine
How many years do you think itll take before you are basically done? I know it never ends but any idea?
Bravo, is it travertino or imitation ceramic tile ?? Can you tell me the brand ot that tile?
Need to run all the trowel lines the same direction so you don't trap air.
Beatiful
great videos
good house, haow ekspensive the house?
What kind of tiles are these?
Awesome
Good job
great vids
thanks!
I don't understand why your laying tiles with so many imperfections. ? Is there a reason for this?
What’s the name of the tiles? Are they cement?
Why are your tiles scuffed like that ? Are they second hand?
That's how they are made, polished titles have lots of holes but are filled in with glue and powder. This type has a more rustic feel which suits the farmhouse قفشات الأفلام

por eso debes contratar mexicanos para que te hagan bien el trabajo
Those walls would drive me mad
So, you mean this layout of tiles is thought of ? It looks rather random i'd say
Grandpa please buy some knee pads ,your killing me just watching you work like that.
Funny noises!
Old guys with no knee padding... its 2021, how do you feel now? lol.
chouette carrelage
🌟👍🍀💐
should have buttered the backs of the limestone
All that work and you didn't back butter the tiles
Car channel or keep grout lines all in the same direction
Car channel looks good though
Слишком сложный бутерброд...
Be careful, electronics don't work without magic white smoke, so try not to let it out from your instruments.
Beginning of part 2 (cooking fat)
I have 15 years installing floors and it is wrong as they were, you have to put the cement in one direction to get the air out
These tiles have holes in... the air got out.
@@carlroge I’m pretty sure that’s rubbish anyway.
pitagor teorema a'+b'=c'
Those tiles are so pitted. I really don't like them at all.
The rustic appearance with all the pits is exactly what I like about it. It wouldn’t make sense to install a brand new, high gloss tile in a 300 year old farm house like that.
