yeah this is the easy part. try taking the crank bolt off !!!!! or the cam actuator bolt off !!! make sure if you don't have an high impact gun you get yourself a honda crank tool to hold the pulley in place while you loosen this bolt. also get yourself a 2ft 1/2 extension with a 2 ft 1/2 breaker bar and hopefully maybe!! you might be able to loosen this nut !! I had to actually slip a solid steel bar over the breaker bar so there wasn't so much flex on the breaker bar and finally it came loose with a loud pop!! as for loosen the cam actuator bolt. grab yourself a 24mm long wrench to hold the cam while you use your breaker bar to loosen this nut. if you have a partner around I highly recommend they help you with this. if your car has a sway bar you can rest the wrench against it. don't even attempt this job if you don't have any of these tools or you will find yourself in a pickle without a car trying to go out and get the right parts for the job like I did !!!

General Mechanic one question is normal after I set all the marks nice. When i rotate the engine to make sure everything is ok the tensioner is not maintaining the chain stretch is a used one
Hey! Remember that tensioner works by oil pressure so if engine is not running it will not tens tight as it has to until the engine is running All you have to make sure of is that it is not going all the way back and letting the chain jump time!
The reason you turn it clockwise is because the tensioner is on the opposite side. If you turn from the crankshaft which you should always do, then the pull is applied against the guide that doesnt have the tensioner so it doesnt move at all. If you turn it counter clockwise, then the tensioner is pushed on which causes the time to be off since the chain is technically stretched by the amount the tensioner is retracted back.
Changed ckp sensor cleared code PO339 but I can hear the chain. Think a tensioner went. This is a horrible time for this to happen. I can do the work that's not a problem just a horrible time to happen.
@@GeneralMechanicGA I have a 2010 accord that hums in a high speed ,is that the chain? Or something else?Maybe the wheel bearing ,Only when I'm on the freeway I hear it.
Hmmmm That would be something to check out before guessing cause timing chain is a good bit of money So yeah I would double check before calling it! But most likely you may have a bad bearing!
A code P0341 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Cam sensor wiring routed too close to spark plug wiring (causing interference) Poor wiring connection at cam sensor Poor wiring connection at PCM Bad cam sensor Damaged reluctor wheel Thank you for watching!
deflair lais Yes it could be! Have you tried pulling any codes with code reader? If yes Can you send them to me i could help on giving an idea! Thanks for taking the time to watch! Don’t forget to like and subscribe for more!
General Mechanic Well ive cleared the code but it was the rocker arm actuator (vtc actuator) stuck on. However i lost nearly all my oil because the vtc filter bolt popped off while i was driving and it spent the spark plug seals. So ive cleaned it all up new alternator and battery cause the hot oil fried it. Cleaned the spark plug wells and the plugs didnt look too bad and didnt get a whole lot of oil on them. The marks looked off by a few teeth when i had the valve cover off. Would i just need to replace the chain and re time it and it'll work?
deflair lais It should work! This can wont vent any valves I had it happen to me on one car it turned way off time... and no vent valves Now on the code you have and the problem you are about to fix i think the root of your problem is going to be your whole spool valve ( vthec valve assemble) I would replace it before cranking it after timing chain replaced! I said this vases on other jobs i have done! Just this past week i fixed a 06 civic and 06 accord with same problem! Good luck
General Mechanic Ive already replaced spool valve and all other vtec/ vtc solenoids, but thanks for the reminder! And ill let you know if it was just the timing or something more serious.

Hey!
Remember that tensioner works by oil pressure so if engine is not running it will not tens tight as it has to until the engine is running
All you have to make sure of is that it is not going all the way back and letting the chain jump time!
How do you replace the oil pump chain & tensioner ? 2008 honda accord .
+Sho Bud sorry not a video on that but will try to cover it on one soon!
Thanks for taking the time to watch !
How many miles this card had when you did this ?
Thanks for taking the time to watch
If im not wrong that one had around 210k
Changed ckp sensor cleared code PO339 but I can hear the chain. Think a tensioner went. This is a horrible time for this to happen. I can do the work that's not a problem just a horrible time to happen.
What is the symtom of a chain going bad and need replacement anyone out there?
The most common symptom is a rattle when cranking
But also some retarded or advanced time code may show up
@@GeneralMechanicGA I have a 2010 accord that hums in a high speed ,is that the chain? Or something else?Maybe the wheel bearing ,Only when I'm on the freeway I hear it.
Hmmmm
That would be something to check out before guessing cause timing chain is a good bit of money
So yeah I would double check before calling it!
But most likely you may have a bad bearing!
@@GeneralMechanicGA Thank you for quick response.
i want to know also
Wat if u get po341 after swapping chain
A code P0341 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Cam sensor wiring routed too close to spark plug wiring (causing interference)
Poor wiring connection at cam sensor
Poor wiring connection at PCM Bad cam sensor
Damaged reluctor wheel
Thank you for watching!
You don't have to turn the engine? after the timing is set.
I like to do just to be safe that no valve are hitting any piston that will tell you time is done right
Remember this has to be done by hand not with starter!..
my tsx is cranking but wont start. Could my timing chain have jumped?
deflair lais
Yes it could be!
Have you tried pulling any codes with code reader?
If yes
Can you send them to me i could help on giving an idea!
Thanks for taking the time to watch!

Well ive cleared the code but it was the rocker arm actuator (vtc actuator) stuck on. Would i just need to replace the chain and re time it and it'll work?
deflair lais
It should work!
This can wont vent any valves
I had it happen to me on one car it turned way off time... and no vent valves
Now on the code you have and the problem you are about to fix i think the root of your problem is going to be your whole spool valve ( vthec valve assemble)
I would replace it before cranking it after timing chain replaced!
I said this vases on other jobs i have done!
Just this past week i fixed a 06 civic and 06 accord with same problem!
Good luck

Ive already replaced spool valve and all other vtec/ vtc solenoids, but thanks for the reminder! And ill let you know if it was just the timing or something more serious.
Most common failure on that engine is the timing tensioner
But best way to make sure timing is done right is
Taking cover off and redoing it!
Shouldn’t be to hard of a job!!
Please what is the problem?
How did you learn that? Is there an annoying sound when the engine is turned on in the morning
Yes that is the most common sign of a bad tensioner
What are the symptoms of the problem and how can they be detected?
؟؟؟؟؟؟
This is a problem I have

My friend,
It is a faulty VTC Actuator.
Needs to be replaced.
Great video.
Enough details
