Why does the saw have the black on clutch cover and an old school carb? Was that how they were for a bit? I have a older 362 and it's got a white cover
I had a customers 500i in a few months ago. Clutch exploded at full noise. Destroyed the case, oil pump, oil pump drive, clutch cover, brake band, brake mechanism. Was not a cheap job. 😢
Eric from "I do cars" would say probably blew up on idle in a drive through.... XD I know it's not vehicle but funny... He says that joke when the car engine throws out rods...
I got an echo 2511 and the chain was tightened too much and didn’t move but the saw starting smoking, I loosen and the chain started moving again do you think there is any damage?
If the saw runs fine I wouldn't sweat it. You probably overheated the clutch and drum and the oil started smoking. Tighten the chain until it touches the bar and exactly that much, and don't press when cutting. Let the chain do the cutting, especially on these tinny saws. Love my 2511
Yeah, you overheated the clutch. It's probably fine, take a look at the clutch drum and see if you can see any bluing or change in color that suggests the heat treat was affected
@shangrilaladeda Even if you do see some bluing it's probably fine. The real concern when you overheat the clutch is the clutch side bearings. You really wanna try to keep the clutch from getting too hot like that because the heat transfers to the crankshaft which then transfers heat to the bearings. That can lead to an air leak, which then leads to the engine running lean...
I'd love if you could show how worn the inside of the drum was where the shoes ride. That's a wear part not many people pay enough attention to. I'm willing to bet that the drum was pretty worn and one in better shape might've contained the carnage.
@@sawmanbigtreeslayer2360 yes they can, especially the hook. I’ll look again. Didn’t see any broken springs. They appeared to be weakened and lengthened. Didn’t see any discoloration either. I like knowing not assuming.
No, that's from manufacturing defect, only way you find that hair line Crack is by purple die , or orange color and black lite human eye won't see that without the die and black lite, that got slipped through inspection
Full tilt boogie is my phrase. You didn't ask permission to say it. That's some bullshit. I mean, if I was gonna say "brand hammer new" I would have the courtesy to ask first, or at the minimum tag you in the video. Christ man, have some decency!
I here you , i run a 261 and a 461 both 12 yrs old and run the crap out of them and knock on wood have had zero issues , but i an anal about my maintenance , thanks for another good video 🤙
Wow! I’ve never seen one that bad. Not even when I worked at the dealership 😮
Wow 😯! That was unreal…. I’ve never seen that before, Richard.
Hard to imagine how they did that to their saw!
Wow!!! Thanks for sharing that with us Richard!
Nope not in my 40 years of saws have i seen one that bad!
This is wild Ted!
A little saw maintenance is a good practice, that saw has been around the block a few times.
Last time I saw something that bad was a 12 bolt chevy rear that exploded on a drag strip and put pieces over an inch into the asphalt!
😮😮😮😮

That's my favorite saw! Taps started playing in my house for some reason
That's amazing, saving this one to my Chainsaw playlist.

How does that even happen? Also was the operator hurt?
I'm going with instant stoppage and operator jump on that one. I'm very impressed with the shoe springs.
HOLY!! Nope, never seen anything like that😳 guessing the drum got worn too thin?
😂😂😂😂😂 unexpected for sure
Eric from "I do cars" would say probably blew up on idle in a drive through....

He says that joke when the car engine throws out rods...
Didn’t know this was even possible!
Wow i have never seen such damage before. It must be somekind of factory defect, i dont know?
She couldn't take much more of that could she?? wow
OEM? Or was it aftermarket stuff?
Wow! I wonder what that sounded like when it flew apart!
@@user-ret-cde-ret Probably scared the crap out of the operator 😅
Well now!
It was only going 70 MPH when it unwound....
Wow😮!!!!!
Crazy 😂
WOT brake application?
That's a definite goner .
Wow is for sure, send video to Stihl!
😂😂😂😂😂
Is a o thirty four worth rebuilding
Rich nice video ❤❤❤
Always something new 🫣🫣🫣
He must have been using Stihl HP Ultra. ;-)
So the drum got thin enough to finally blow out?
Never saw one that bad. More importantly, where did you get that vise
Scott Kunz. He's on UA-cam as well.

Does anyone send you a nice well maintained clean anything to work on🤔
Not often enough Lol!
If there was ever a time to use the term “catastrophic” ….this would be it.
How? Why? Wow!
I don’t see any evidence of overheating. Do you thing it was weak springs?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Clutch springs do break.

Looks like it got hot
Too much heat on the clutch?
Wowww...
WOW!
This is what happens when you do not use OEM saw chain!😁
👍👍 fubar
Priceless!!

Wow carnage 😮
Probably running a 28 on her. Dull chain!!
Same way as doing head Crack check on car engine , magnaflux it
That sucks I think I'd just make her art and go buy a nother enjoy it everyone
Funny.
If it was a Husky, the only thing left would be the handlebar...........
Almost guarantee they hit the chain brake at full throttle and running dull. If not then I would like to hear the "REAL STORY"
Wow
If its that bad on the outside you will have a fryd cylinder and bearings

Typical new stihl ! Seems to me as time goes on the quality has gone down the tube , but that is for just about anything you buy these days
It's 7 years old and heavily used. Nothing is going to last forever.
I here you , i run a 261 and a 461 both 12 yrs old and run the crap out of them and knock on wood have had zero issues , but i an anal about my maintenance , thanks for another good video 🤙
7yrs is not a long time lol it's just cheap made junk Stihl sucks overpriced for the name that's what your paying for
I think we all can agree that, accidents happens, but this looks like poor quality parts failure...
Looks like worn out parts
Million miles on it, wore out
Poor maintenance. I bet the clutch bearing was never greased. Over heated and worn out parts.
