Thanks Mark for posting this great review or over view as I thought you referred to it! Having been out of flight Sims for quite a long time until I recently was introduced to VR in Il2 Battle of Stalingrad by friends and I was hooked. Not knowing exactly what type of in cockpit assistance I may need, or which are best, I had just found your video on this after I goigled flight planning, I should of known to check your channel! This looked very easy and intuitive so I snatched it up and it is very easy! I like it a lot so far and will get better at it with time. What do you think of the FS Flight Academy for learning how to fly IFR? It looks very helpful to me so I am thinking of signing up for that also! @@SimHangerFS Very nice video. I always follow your videos and it seems you know a lot about FS. I think I already asked this question. Maybe you can give me a little help. 4K monitors and 2K monitors G-Sync native where refresh rate starts at 1 Hz are very expensive. The minimum I can buy is a monitor like MSI Optix MAG274QRF which starts at 30 Hz. Is it a good purchase? What happens if frames are going below 30 with a G-Sync compatible (not native) monitor? Do I get bad stutters, tearing, lag, something else? Thanks.
Hi Mark, I bought the Sim EFB yesterday after watching your review, and its great in VR, it is exactly like Avitab...one tip for anyone thinking about buying it, remember to grab every chart you need in the flight....including SIDs and STARs....I did a flight in the 747-8 from KLAX to KORD and never took off the headset once...So, Thank You Mark.
@@davidweisbrod5771 Hi David, yes it works with large files, whatever you want to transfer into vr it will follow. I use the zoom mainly for taxiways...so it should work for the vfr charts etc
Finally. I've been waiting for something like this to use in VR for what feels like forever. It looks perfect, so thanks for the great review. Off to blow more money on MSFS.
Excellent video and once again thanks for sharing. You obviously put a lot of time and effort into making this video and I very much appreciate it. I will be purchasing this today!
Thanks Mark for this excellent introduction/review. As always very well done video. I brought it because of your recommendation. And I should say it was the right decision. A very good program with a lot of options. I use it in VR and as you mentioned I notice no impact on frame rates. Take care Mark
I imagine it would do well even in 2d? Maybe on a second screen? VR is not for me yet. I use LittleNavMap and like it. It reminds me a lot of Aerosoft's old "Flightsim Commander". It's really all i need, but this i just might try out :)
VR in flight sim is utterly addictive. Especially in the Reverb G2 where you see it all. I have a 49” monitor with the RealSim Gear G1000 suite and it all vanishes when I put the G2 on.
I started the video and went and checked the price and initially decided it wasn't for me. Then I watched the rest of the video and I think I changed my mind! I'll study it more and see, but this sort of looks like a must-have for me in VR.
@@SimHangerFS I'm not 100% sure. There are two things I would love it to do, neither of which is really an EFB function and neither of which it will likely ever do. First of all, I misinterpreted your comment about "following along with a training video". You meant taking notes and using them in the sim. I thought you meant having the video window in the cockpit with you. I can do this with bringing the desktop in via WMR, but it is not easily controlled. Man, I would love it if somebody came up with a way for WMR and other headsets to bring in a compact video/youtube player into the cockpit in VR. The other things is that I want to bring in .pdf manuals and be able to page through them. I don't think Sim EFB supports this, right? I can "capture" a pdf page but not actually have the pdf itself in the cockpit? It's these things, like videos and manuals that we usually have on a second monitor in 2D that I would love to have conveniently in VR, along with the flight plan, charts, etc.
@@waltersbg MSFS doesn’t support pdf at this time so SIM EFB can’t do this, and yes you would need to take notes and paste into the plan on a training video at this time. SIM EFB will continue to be developed and who knows where it will end up 😁
@@SimHangerFS I had thought that the freeware eBag brought pdf's into the sim but further reading shows that it actually uses a batch file to convert the pdf pages into individual jpg's, so now I understand. Does each tab on Sim EFB need to be a single page or can I have a multiple images on a single tab and page through them somehow?
Hello Mark! Very much enjoyed your presentation, and I purchased SimEFB after watching it. However, the program is not working well for me - it caused MSFS 2020 to crash to desktop when I tried to load one of the flight plans from SimEFB into the sim. Even when I create the flight plan in MSFS 2020 first, export it to SimEFB, then publish it back to the sim as in your demonstration, the EFB screens show nothing. Instead they read: "Run Sim EFB Manager Program Then press the hidden button under the "S" of "SIM EFB #" In Panel Title Bar" Sadly, the hidden S button does nothing. Sam Smith at the SimEFB Forums has suggested that my antivirus may be the cause (I use Windows Defender in a default setup with Windows 10). Do you know of these issues and would you perhaps have any suggestions?
Do you ever breathe?😅 Thanks for this great review, as a matter of fact i was searching today for a solution having charts etc. in VR. I think i will give this Sim EFB a go. Keep up your good work, i love your channel !
While this is really cool the fact it does not have Simbrief and Navigraph integration is a no go for me, hopefully they can integrate it at some point in the future.
What a great video Mark. Say this takes off, and people create fun trips, I assume 2 EFB users could share trips? What about an EFB trip creator and an MSFS user without EFB?
this is great - can't wait to try it! can you import checklists and pdf files natively? or would you have to take a screenshot of them? my only hesitation with the screenshots is resolution when flying (might be too small to read)
Hallo Mark, thanks alot for your great videos. I just - after watching your video - wanted to purchase sim-EFB, but it seems not to be on the market anymore. Not on Aerosoft, not on justflight neither on simmarket. Is that possible? Do you know anything about that? With regards, Franz
I just bought this, and am having all kinds of problems with it in terms of flight plans and calibrating moving maps. I'm starting to regret the purchase, but if nothing else it's a moving street map in VR which I "needed".
Great app! Bought it after watching this since I’m flying in VR. Now both MSFS and X-Plane have the various Garmin systems, and it’s a pain to manoeuvre the rotary buttons. Is there a way to map these to joystick butttons? Also is there a way to know what commands a specific aircraft support? DCS has a per aircraft assignment so it’s much easier to map, although you have to repeat common functions as control surfaces. But what will happen when we have 1000 aircraft in MSFS of all kinds, there will be a nightmare to figure out what commands are applicable for a specific aircraft.
@jonasfogelberg9300 You said "it’s a pain to manoeuvre the rotary buttons." Well you can use a device called 'The Knobster'. A strange name but a very useful device if you want to use rotary buttons on the sim. See the review by VR Flight Sim Guy here ua-cam.com/video/pXW76H6zyTE/v-deo.html
Can you use these "panels" you see in VR to mirror another window on your PC? I use Neofly, but it drives me crazy that neofly gives you coordinates as a destination (not an airport), and you can't copy/paste them into MSFS (to create a destination on your flight plan that will show on your PFD in the plane). Neofly has its own map which tracks your plane in real time, but the only way to see it (and therefore know if I'm near the destination Neofly wants me to go to) is to lift up my headset, look at my monitor, and alt+tab over to the Neofly window, look at the Neofly map, alt+tab back into MSFS, lower my headset, re-adjust to the sweet spot, then continue flying. I need to get that Neofly map into my cockpit or headset somehow!!
Hi Mark, I like the charts in Jepessen Flitestar and I presume that I can screen grab a chart off it. If I want to create a moving map with this, how does Sim EFB now the points that I want to set to calibrate it? I hope I am clear. Thanks.
Based on which tab your on...eg departure...it will bring up various known points around the departure point. Once you specify the two points it then knows the gps position of these two positions and can therefore track movement in relation to these points. So yes you can grab a departure plate for example, specify say the airport and one fix point and you’ve got a moving map!
I have the reverb g2 and want to bring in my mirror image of my ipad with foreflight on it, will this bring in a window like that? I don't want just a jpeg of it on my clipboard
