This was fantastic video I was given that same climber and was wondering what I needed to buy to be safe. I will definitely go into this season more confident that I am using the equipment correctly. I wish there was a Wisconsin program like this
Thank you so much. This was the most helpful video for someone new to climbing tree stands! I feel 100 times more confident and you made it simple and easy!
This was a must needed explanation. I actually asked you about this a Lil bit ago. Thank you for the info. Can always count on you to give detailed instruction. God Bless you and that great family Oh. I actually took off for opening day. I've never gone opening day. Always 2 or 3 weeks after. Let's see what happens Happy safe hunting yall.
Thank you. I ran into difficulty yesterday setting my stand on a tree with many branches. I was only using the lineman’s for both climbing and tether once up…. But I had to disconnect several times and it occurred to me that I was taking a risk at the worst, awkward, time . I will double up from now on to avoid this and alway keep one or the other connected.
Hey Sean, that program looks like it will definitely help new hunters especially with you mentoring. I've always felt awkward with using the lineman's rope alone and would usually pair it with a tether together when putting up my sticks and platform or treestand. It required a little more maneuvering with both lines, but I felt safer. I have been doing the one stick method the past 2 season's using just a safety line as my tether and repel line. Lately I've been thinking of trying the jrb hitch climbing method since it uses a pretty good no-slack system and he emphasizes safety on his jrb tree climbing channel/website, so we'll see how that goes. Praying you have a great season, God Bless!
this year i will be trying a new system and losing my climbing sticks all together. i will be using a system more popular in the arborist community called the double blakes hitch. the only downside is you have to go and preset paracord lines in trees beforehand which isnt a big deal most time but can be at times. all i need is some climbing rope a saddle my bow and my platform. ive been practicing and i can get 20-30 feet up a tree in fully set up in under 10 minutes and not make much noise. ive had a hard time being quiet with climbing sticks in the past. i havnt tried it in a actual hunting situation yet so things will change during an actual hunt compared to practice but i think its going to work great especially since im stuck hunting all public ground and some of the places i hunt are well over a mile or more to get back to through pretty rough terrain.
hey in having lots of issue again with my dragon 10, how can i get in contact with you so i can ask you some question regarding it , im trying to get ready for whitetail season wish opens august 1st here in south florida, thanks

awesome man! Enjoy your opening day!
Great video! Thanks for doing this!
My pleasure, thanks for watching
Good explanation, i use my lineman as a tether too when saddle hunting by making a large loop with a figure 8 knot.
Awesome!

I use the SRT climbing method almost exclusively now when I’m not using my climber stand.

Is that the same as the DRT method?
I just use one rope for both my linesman and tether, try to pick trees without a bunch of limbs and it works fine for me.
Awesome
