I dont mean to be off topic but does someone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
Yeah I love turbos, just after two cars, and two turbo motor issues, this seemed like the better route for my personal use. I would probably want a gen4 if I got another one as a daily driver
am i understanding right that you like the 2gr over the gen3, but that a gen4 may be/have been preferred over the 2gr? seeking clarification because i’m on the fence of swapping my gen2 for a gen4 or 2gr. thanks for the video! really enjoyed it
@@kbatch80 I love the kick in the pants you get from turbos, it feels faster as the power delivery is more abrupt, that being said I think my gen3 was making similar power to a stock gen4 and the 2gr is faster around the track. I did this swap for more track focused relaibility, but have really enjoyed it around town too. its very peppy and the sound is addictive. I was getting annoyed with the lack of parts availability too so the 2gr being current and super popular makes it easy to get parts and they will be popping up all over junkyards if I need to get another. It comes down to you, both are great options for different reasons
Holy crap...:sounds amazing! Your build is almost exactly like mine and I am almost done putting mine together. You’re video will push me to get it done faster!
its really not that bad. im not a wiring guy which is the hardest part so I got someone to wire it for me. luckily there is a good guy that offers this service. otherwise its mostly common sense and a few special tools
Love this. I’ve got a 93 Turbo that I expect to be doing this conversion on shorty. I’d be interested to hear more on the ins and outs, and any advice. I notice you still have the Cruise Control stalk fitted on you steering wheel. Is it functional with the conversion? What about your aircon?? As previously said, please post more video content on the car. Thanks
I never use AC so I just removed it, I mean the roof comes off so no need... it is possible to get the cruise control working, its all electronic at this point so you would just need to run some wires and what not. I know there are semi detailed posts out there on the forums about how to do this. I haven't done it. Obviously this car isn't "done" and perfect, its my project
WOW seriously thanks you for your video. I own a 1991 mr2 turbo gen3 white with rpf1. Your car is soo clean ! and you have good taste to conserve all oem looks ! your car is awesome defenetly my mr2 goal ! and 2gr is best engine to put in this car in my opinion. But my only question is it hard to work on it ? Ive heard some people says that, except for an oil change, you have to drop the engine to work on it. Thanks again for sharing your awesome machine ! From a Quebec Canada !
pretty much you will have to drop it to do any major work. I re-sealed everything before I installed so I wouldn't have to do it for a while. you will be able to remove the exhaust stuff although it will be kind of annoying to do the headers. you can remove all the intake stuff down to the injectors easily too. Stoked that you like it, I certainly love the setup and am glad I moved this direction with it. I may try to find some second hand bumpers to do some aero mods for time attack, but I haven't figured that out yet, I don't want to cut up the stuff I have since its all pretty decent.
Could you tell me more about the stuck clutch? I seem to have the same problem. How does it happen? I assume the solution is to take the trans out and pull the clutch off the flywheel, but how I'm worried about the problem coming back.
it was because I didn't remove the green coating, I didn't realize it was a coating, there were no instructions on my flywheel. iu had to remove the trans, unstick the disc with my hand, clean and reinstall
I haven't done any hand calculating before, nor after, but I do notice gas lasting longer. I'm usually beating on it and not cruising so this is mostly noticed during wide open throttle. The swap is supposed to be more powerful, more reliable, and better fuel economy. It's seeming to be working out that way from what I can tell in the early stages.
Somebody's always gotta ask about mpg in every video! So rediculous! It's the dumbest thing to ask about a high performance vehicle... It's like asking John Force if his mustang will void the factory warranty with the modifications he's made?
which urethane suspension bushings did you use? And where you concerned about the possible rear bind at all? www.mr2oc.com/45-auto-x/414661-polyurethane-suspension-bushings-good-bad-thing.html
Nice car, currently have a 93 with a Rev 3 swap and am considering pulling it to do this. Similar reasons, worry about reliability/parts/usable power. Currently running about 18psi on stock ECU, and really don’t want to deal with standalone. Any regrets pulling the turbo for the 6? Faster or slower than the turbo? The sound is awesome, really pulling me towards this swap.
if you aren't having any problems yet I'd keep running it as is. idk if the turbo will handle 18psi all day at the track tho. I think that ceramic wheel likes to say bye bye. 15psi would be safer. no ragerts, the car is faster now and less shit to deal with.
@@allthingsfast2375 yeah, if I don’t do the 6 swap I’m gonna upgrade the turbo, still keeping the 18psi stock fuel cut, but should get 320/330 whp, so more power than 6, but not the fat powerband. Tough choice.
@@jrmotorsports55 the source of most of my problems and headaches was an aftermarket turbo with a turbo adapter on the stock manifold. gaskets always blew out, bolts would break or loosen, it was super frustrating. would melt the lines and what not
@@jrmotorsports55 I bought it that way so idk what adapter and stuff it was. the turbo itself was great, just keeping it together was a pain. it was a garret gtx2863r. its was fine daily driving and stuff, but the ridiculous heat at the track caused issues

@@allthingsfast2375 oh shoot so 10-15 plus parts ball park almost 20 that’s nuts! wish I had the know how and space. I guess gen 4 swap would be my cheap route
@@allthingsfast2375 oh alright gotcha no worries! having driven it with a gen 3 do you prefer the way this delivers power? i assume its easier to manage than a turbo motor with it’s turbo lag during mid corner
@@Mister2_ I had a gen 3 before. this is faster and sounds cooler. I also found out my engine is down power for a reason I haven't figured out yet, and its still faster than my gen3. I also had turbo gasket issues with my old setup, I haven't had any engine issues since doing this swap. pretty happy with the decision!
I have found the common view of snap oversteer to be more related to alightment and suspension settings than anything. stock alignment tends to understeer then oversteer suddenly. changing these specs can make the car steer appropriately then enter oversteer in a way you can predict, which is much easier to drive
I'm happy to see the car is running well and thank you for all the kind words!
