Hi Guys! I have created a pattern page on Ravelry so that you have something to link project pages to. There is also a PDF "cheat sheet" for a nominal fee if you feel you need something other than what is in the description. :)

Barbara, you are a super teacher…. Love your comforting voice, slow visual tutorial WITH written instructions… super thank you
Thank you for your kind words. I"m glad it was helpful.
Thank you for putting the pattern instructions while you knit . It makes it so much easier to understand . Instead of just showing us the actual knitting . You're the first one I've seen to simaltaneously do this . Thank you so very much .
I'm glad that was helpful! I know that different people learn in different ways and try to hit as many as possible.
Thanks so much for sharing your expertise with us. I really like this with the seed stitch. Easy but lovely.
I didn't want to go all seed stitch because that drives some people nuts. But a wee bit is nice!
Another great video Barbara, thank you. Clear and simple instructions, love the samples. More on my to do list.
I like making lists longer! I'm glad you liked the video.
Thank you Barbara, for this very clear description of how to make this shape.😘❤
Have fun coming up with your own variations!
Love the shape and simplicity of this shawl! I ordered your cheat sheet, and will start the pattern today. Thanks!
Fantastic!
You make it look so easy, I want to make them all, very grateful, thank you....
Well, I have a lot of practice, but it really isn't too terribly difficult.
Love all your videos. Lots of fun to watch and learn with you. Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you so much 🌸🌸This Shawl shape beautiful! I am so excited to knit my own!!! 🌸 I appreciate the detailed information for this pattern 🌸
I'm so glad that you like it and I hope you have fun knitting one up!
You are amazing! I love your bright, cheery personality and enthusiasm! Your videos are so fun to watch. I'm a new knitter and I'm going to do this shawl as my first ever knitted shawl! Thank you!
I am so excited that you are going to knit your first shawl! I hope you have fun. If you have any questions please pop over to the FB group, we try to help! And thank you for your kind words.
Thank you so much! I have always wanted a shawl like this one. You are a wonderful teacher ❣ Love from Kazakhstan.
These small versions of shawls are so darn cute. Another great tutorial Barbara. Thank you for taking the time to show us how to do this.
They are crazy cute aren't they? And I find them very helpful in learning. This is how I work out ideas frequently and I thought it would be fun to share with y'all.
Thank you for a very clear tutorial. Definitely going to make this and the lace crescent.
Wonderful!
Just love your work!!! Thank you so much sharing your talent!!! Stay healthy! 😀
Thank you!
Just found your channel today and just want to say wow, thank you for your teaching , you get right down to the basics.
I'm so glad to be a part of your knitting journey!
Great video Barbara! This is going on my to do list. I purchased your book this week and can't wait to start something from it.
Thank you! I can't wait to see what you knit from the book. Any ideas what you want to tackle first?
Omg Barbara you have become our knitting Superstar......love you
LOL. Thank you! I try my best. I'm so glad you like the videos.
Thank You for sharing this pattern. That was so generous of you. I’m going to give it a try. I like that it is deeper then any of the other asymmetrical shawls I have made.
I'm so glad you like it. It is a bit different than the classic "boomerang" shape. I like the added depth too.
I like the way the seed stitch rows show the growth of the pattern. Thanks for a good tutorial and nice shawl pattern.
I'm so glad you like it!
Thank you so much. I enjoyed this pattern as well as the easy crescent shaped shawl from a previous video.
I'm so glad! Are you going to knit up full sized shawls or have fun with the minis?
Started making a full shawl this evening.
I love the colors of the two shawls you showed us. Diana
Thank you!
I’m so grateful for this tutorial! I just started my first shawl, I love the shape of this.
That's wonderful to hear!
Intriguing! I have been searching for a shawl pattern. Oh, I am so glad this popped up! I am a very Asymmetrical person so I will be getting this started... soon! Thank you!
Yay! I am happy that you found it too.
Awesome thanks you are a very good teacher love the way you explain the whole pattern
I'm so glad it clicked with you. I can only do this with small patterns or else the video would take forever!
love love your voice. great video. she's a master knitter by the way!! Love it. thank you
Thank you!
Thanks for the nice , clear instructions! I LOVE the tiny shawls.. Who wouldn't?
I'm so glad you like it!
The blue and orange shawl is absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
Yes I find you ...and I like the shawl Very much ....love from Holland 😘
I am so glad you found me! I can't wait to see you knit this shawl.
Making this one as I type this. The first Asymmetrical shawl I ever made was the step it up, but I refer to it as The Dragon Tail shawl. I collect dragons so hence the name. This one will be my 2nd Asymmetrical and so far I am loving it! Oddly I find it relaxing even though there is more than one-row repeat. My next one will be your Heart Shaped Shawl. Thanks for all you do! I also joined your FB group tonight. Very nice group!
I absolutely loved practicing this miniature asymmetrical piece.. for me it was so much fun.
Tiny shawls are a blast to knit. I am glad you enjoyed it as much as I did.
I enjoy watching - I hope you keep on making videos!!
Thank you! I made this video in 2017, so you have 2 1/2 years of catch-up to do (plus a year and a half before this) LOL!
Gorgeous shawl...love it!
Thank you!
Thank you for showing the Wyinfront direction from other video....I may make your shawl..You make great videos
Thank you so much. I am glad they are useful.
OMG, this is the pattern I have been looking for, I really wanted an asymmetrical shawl that was deeper than the scarf patterns I have but didn't know how to do it! Thank you so much!
That's awesome to hear! Have fun knitting.
Coolness! watching you knit has helped me so much, best regards !!!!!
That is wonderful to hear. I am all for improving ones skills. It's just yarn and we can do anything with it.
You're an excellent teacher with a pleasant voice. Thank you so much; this is exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Happy knitting!
Great tutorial, your voice and cadence is easy to follow. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! This shower looks like fun. It will be in my inventory in the near future!
I can't wait to see it.
Just found you. So glad you are a continental knitter. I will try to make this as I am a crocheter first.
Have fun! You can do it!
I love the way u knit the syawl.. I've made one for my niece.. N she loved it very much.. Thank you very much for the tutorial 😉😉
I am so glad that your niece liked the shawl! Keep on knitting!
Thanks alot for you.. I'll do it happily.. I love to learn knitting 😉
There are several I would like to make. Isochronal Arcade is beautiful. Also at the top of my to do list are Quatrefoil Cap, Ves, and Fractured Helix. Your book is so much more than patterns though. The Getting Started and Techniques section are so helpful. I will be using your book as a reference tool.
I am so happy to hear that you are planning multiple projects. I tried really hard to try and make sure that there would be more than one project in the book that would appeal to a knitter. And thank you for the kind words about the instructional sections - it was a challenge to balance between informative and straight up boring! LOL.
Love your tutorial work, will follow your work. Thnks
Awesome, thank you!
So pretty!
I like it a lot!
Thank you!
Thank you Barbara, for this very clear description of how to make this shape.
I hope you have fun with it.
@@WatchBarbaraKnit thank you, I did! Your message finds me a few hours after I gave this shawl to my friend as a gift. It was very well received! And it was a very enjoyable knit. In fact, I have a second one on the needles to give to my mother in law. So thank you again for enabling me to do this. 🩵
I love it! Thank you!
Yay! Thank you!
I love your tutorials 🙋🙏🏻❣️
Thank you so much!
Love it! Just found your channel...yep I subscribed
Thank you!
you are the perfect knitting teacher....:)
I don't know about that, but I think that sometimes it is good to see that even the teacher takes 3 tries to make a purl stitch!
Muchas gracias Barbara por compartir este lindo chal me encanta recibe cariños desde Chile.Gracias.
Gracias
Hi Barbara. After scouring the internet for shawl patterns only to find confusing instructions I am so happy I found this! The repeat is simple and results beautiful. I have made your crescent shape version as well. You are a joy to watch and I have learned so much while being entertained. Thank you!
I am so glad you find the videos helpful! I'd love to see some of your work if you feel like sharing in the FB group!
Beautiful! Thank you!!
Glad you like it!
Thank you for putting the written instructions on the screen. I need to learn how to read these.😊
You’re welcome 😊 You might want to check out this How to Read a Knitting Pattern video: ua-cam.com/video/N1nnhP1xFTE/v-deo.html
Thank you Barbara, I finally learned how to knit this pattern
Fantastic! You go!
Cool pattern. I've been looking for a shawl pattern that's a bit more than just a standard triangle shawl but wouldn't be so much that I'd go nuts trying to knit it up, and this looks like a good one. Good tutorial. :)
Thank you!
sorry my dear, having a HARD dealing with HOW GORGEOUS all of this is. OMG....dying over here, cant wait to get started on my project too. LOVE THIS. totally enjoyed it and Subscribing to your channel. I knit and watch your videos., the best entertainment. xoxox
Thank you! I am so glad you enjoy my videos.
So darling❣️ thank you 😍
Hi, I know this is a "aged" video but I found you about 4 months ago and LOVE your videos. I've learned quite a bit from you and love your patterns. I purchased your cowl pattern "Ring the Gack" and have made a least 4 already. LOVE IT. I just got your "cheat sheet" for this shawl because my one of my 2022 challenges was to make a lace shawl, where better to start but with this one. Thank you and please continue to feed my education and love of knitting.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such kind words. I am honored to be part of your knitting journey.
Going to try this because it doesn't seem quite so complicated and then go for the lacy one you created for me. I'm not the roundest cookie in the jar. Not giving up!!
Never give up! This one is pretty simple, although the plain crescent shaped one might give you a good starting point to work up to the lace crescent?
I finally got it after watching this video a couple of times. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Fantastic!
LOVE!!! LOVE!!! LOVE!!!!!!! 💕💕💕💕💕💕
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing
My pleasure
Great tutorial!
Thank you!

Pattern by Barbara!
So cute!!!
Thank you!
so so beautiful...
Thank you!
Nice ...again thank you so much....😘
You are most welcome!
Wow Great
This is a beautiful shawl. I'm trying to find a present shape that doesn't stard with a confusing gater tab. I've heard that people say on shalls merino wool isn't a good yarn for a good drape. So they suggest the yarn have. Larger content of bamboo, silk, cashmere so it drapes better and they said holds blocked shape better/longer. I'd love you option #BarbaraBenson because you design such georgous shawls. This is my second project. Thank you so much.
If you knit the yarn at the right gauge merino works beautifully for a shawl, but bamboo, silk and cashmere do indeed bring more drape to the party. Non-superwash merino blocks just fine but again, bringing in a little silk or bamboo will help lace hold better.
Merci beaucoup de partager ça avec nous.
De rien. ;)
I'm just starting on one of these now, a test one for Gertie the Goat (a toy that is a running joke in my house) and then a real one for me if this is the kind I'd like to make. Until now, only rectangular shawls in my world, let's see which I prefer!
Let us know!
Das ist so schön. Du erklärst wunderbar. Thank you so mutch! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 habe a nice day. I learn english 👍🤣😃 lg Uschi aus GERMANY
Vielen Dank, ich bin froh, dass dir das Video gefallen hat!
Your amazing I love you videos
Awww, thank you so much!
Very good, I like it so much, its so beautifull, I do it in gray, I love it
Thank you honey
Gray is an awesome color. Have fun knitting!
Thank you! Would love to see lace demonstrated. I've been knitting nothing but shawls!
I'll put it on my neverending list LOL.
Very very nice 👍
Thank you!
I got to go get yarn so I can do both of shawls. I can't wait to go to Georgia fiercest in two weeks
Is that only 2 weeks? That is crazy talk!
WatchBarbaraKnit , yes only two weeks away. I go stay with my mom and go to fiber fest
I would never have tried this had I not subscribed!
That is absolutely inspiring to hear for me. Thank you for letting me know that, it makes the work worthwhile!
Hi Barbara, I'm knitting this shawl pattern , I love it!!!! What if I make mistakes, i un do it already twice.
I'm stubborn!!!. Thank you for your teaching
Well, everyone makes mistakes, it's up to you how to deal with them. You'll make fewer as you become used to the pattern!
Anche se in inglese sei stata molto chiara grazie per averlo anche scritto così ho imparato le vostre abbreviazioni
Sono così felice che ti sia stato utile!
Very hice, thanks
My pleasure!
Thank you so much for your videos, I really enjoy watching them. Finally, I decided to knit Earthbound Misfit and now I have a little question - can I substitute recommended yarn with the Scrumptious lace (Fyberspates), but with more repeats of the patterns?
The pattern is very flexible so I would say yes, you can substitute - but I don't know what kind of yardage you will need. I would also say that if you are going to use beads you will probably want to use smaller beads - the 6/0s are probably too much for lace.
I think I'm adventurous enough to experiment)
Thank you for your reply)
Very niceeee 💕💕💕👏
Thank you.
Just started knitting again had stopped for 30 years and I’m new to your channel and I got to say your a great teacher , very clear and the writing instructions at the bottom of the screen is awesome as it helps us to learn to read the pattern as well. Thank you for all your work. From Ottawa Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
I'm so glad you like the videos!
Hi Barbara.....thanks for your videos......your presentation is very easy to understand.....I am a new knitter and I found it very difficult to understand how to turn 90 degree on cast on....you can make a video of that...it will help a lot.....thanks again
Hmmm, I'm not certain about the turning 90 degrees. If I said something that sounded like that in this video my apologies. Or are you working on something else. Turning 90 degrees sounds like doing a garter tab cast on. For this you just have to flip the needle over.
WatchBarbaraKnit It was just an idea for another video.....it took quite a lot of time for me to get this way of knitting.....it may be of help to other people
OK! I totally understand how that is a confusing technique. I don't use it much because it is a bit weird. Thank you for the suggestion!
You are soo lovely ☺️
Thank you 🙏 🧶
You’re welcome 😊
Hi Barbara. I want to join your group. Trying still to understand Revelry, I'll look give link to find you. Tell me please is the knitted cast one tight, loose, icky, useful? I just learned it. Newbie as a knit person that's fibers not just nit knit, everything else fiber practically even Temari. Professionally I worked in polymer and metal clays for the past 30+ years, now coming big-time back to fiber. Its lighter.! Lol. Thanks so very much, hope to hear from you. You are really positive and happy quite honeestly I could use some (huge chunks) of that in my life right now.....
My Ravelry group is here: www.ravelry.com/groups/barbara-benson-designs

I can't wait to see you and welcome back to knitting!
so what happens if you don't increase on the wrong side, I guess you just won't get as deep a shawl then, I wonder how it would look if you don't add the extra in the back. I suppose there are a few ways to make these shawls. quite a few variations. You are amazing. Thank you. xoxox
The only way to find out is to make a wee shawl of your own and experiment!
hello mam,
im a beginner in shawl knitting ...i like ur patterns ,they r just gorgeous .mam ,for shawl to keep it easy ,can i knit all the stitches in between the increases at both ends ..that is garter stitch body ...and i guess ,the body will have two row repeat then ...is it ...
thanku so much mam ...i m waiting for ur reply ...and my yarn is dying to take the shape of this beautiful shawl ...
You can definitely knit this in garter stitch! These small shawl patterns are intended to be a jumping off point for knitters. I encourage playing with the pattern and it would look great in garter. I can't wait to see what you knit up!
I wanted to try this pattern. Since I'm new to knitting, I'd like to challenge myself to doing this.
How many yarns have you used in knitting this in a full shawl?
I have not knit a full shawl using this pattern - just the tiny one. How big your shawl will come out is dependent on your needle size, yarn size, and how much yardage you use. What kind of yarn were you planning on?
how ever did you add the lace..that is my crutch- gorgeous
Thank you! I am not certain what you are referring to as lace - the top edge?
I saw one of your crescent shawl with lace on top with variegated blue. MAy I ask what brand and color, can you recommend a variegated blue soft cotton yarn. I can’t use wool it will be to warm for where I live and allergic to wool? Thanks❤
I don't really have a specific yarn recommendation for you, but have you seen this video? ua-cam.com/video/i68hzCuHRmA/v-deo.html
It's what to knit with if you are allergic to wool and it might be helpful?
You are such a cute little stinker! (Of course you know what I mean)--no disrespect. It was an affectionate compliment. Thank you so much for sharing!
LOL, I take it as a compliment. And I can be a little stinker.
You are just too cute.... tiny itsy bitsy shawl!!! Gonna try!
I just purchased your mosiac and lace pattern book and am trying to knit the love child, I am having a problem fathoming the kfYO2b. where can I find a visual demonstration of this ?
This video has both kfYOb and kYOk in it and might be helpful. The only difference between kfYOb and kfYO2b is that you do two yarn overs instead of one. ua-cam.com/video/kYtAU7nt-hA/v-deo.html
🥰
Thank you!
Really liked this shawl, but my question is about another asymmetric shawl I knitted. I liked the main pattern of the shawl, but I had to do peako (sp?) stiches on the end of my rows and then a peako bindoff. I found it very difficult to keep the end row peakos going and HATED doing a peako bind off.
If I like a pattern, can I do it without those peakos?
If you have the confidence you can definitely modify patterns to suit yourself. The bind off would be the easiest thing to omit, just use a different bindoff. The picots on the edging might be slightly trickier depending on how they are integrated into the pattern. But you can make them go bye bye if you don't like them!
Would this look better in a solid color or changing-color yarn?
It would look great in either.
