Electric vehicles present a complex dilemma, often described as a "catch-22." While they may reduce immediate fuel costs associated with traditional combustion engines, the overall expense may ultimately increase. The reliance on electricity for charging these vehicles shifts the financial burden to residential energy consumption. As more individuals connect to the grid to power their electric cars, the demand on electric companies will surge. This heightened demand could lead to higher electricity rates, impacting not only the cost of charging vehicles but also the overall energy expenses for households. Consequently, what may initially seem like savings could result in increased long-term costs for consumers. AKA keep your hundred thousand electric car.
What you fail to account for is reductions in the cost of generating electricity as we build more capacity, including home solar and home battery storage
at one point in time most of the country did not have AC, and now we do and we coped. It takes the same amount of energy to charge a car as it does to run the AC. Although the car has to be on 5-7 hours straight.

Obviously the vehicle isn't actually out yet, but there just isn't really an excuse for the lack of communication around this vehicle. I personally think the hurricane versions will fill the gap, but there is a very real chance they will undercut the EV versions of the car that they are trying to build their future on. I also have a suspicion that Carlos Tavares is giving unreasonable top down orders (looking straight at all the executives leaving otherwise successful brands). He can blame the brand leadership but at the end of the day a lot of the issues we are seeing , like pricing and vehicle direction, are Stellantis wide, his responsibility. Again this is my opinion, but I think he needs to own his misunderstanding of the American market and stop threatening to kill off staples of the American auto industry due to his mismanagement. As a happy owner of 3 Dodge V8s, I hope they can turn things around.
I don’t care if it’s electric and that there’s no V8 option - the car looks incredible. The styling is the best Charger body design since 1970.
Should've kept the HEMI.... no one wants an EV no matter what the price is. This is AMERICA! We're all about BIG cars with BIG GAS ENGINES!!!! V8s FOR LIFE!!!
A d this is how Dodge went from Metallica to Manilow....and why their dealer lots a stuffed with unsold vehicles...
I honestly wonder how the market will response to this. I will probably grab the 6 cylinder one if I was going to buy one.
You wanted to embrace EV, so go all in! Why try to use a speaker to imitate the thing you decided to kill off? Tim K made the right move.
Perfect for a single young man with no kids!
I can't wait until someone does the first Hellcat swap on one of these!!!!
That sounds awesome. I'd love to try this.
An electric car should not "sound". That's the whole point.
If the titanic could do donuts that's what it would look like 😅
Exhaust sounds so much better!!!!
Many hate v6 engines but respect the GTR.
Dodge just wants to get the dirty minds into the EV world.
Tesla plaid and many more upcoming EV brands are pushing limits.
Let dodge reclaim its throne as king of all speed production vehicles.
What about the price of slave labor and the destruccion of the planet have you seen the mines from where they extract the materials for the battery ???
@carlosc.399 most batteries can be made with refined metals from recycled batteries. At some point we'll never need to mine for them again
Better than vacuum cleaner sound before
They should put the Fratzonic exhaust on the Hurricane version as well .
This makes zero sense the hurricane version is the gas powered version
That makes sense though. I think dodge should do it.@@Yueymosthated
That's not how it works lol.
@@TheG60528XiJinPing the fratzonic exhaust was made only for the ev why would dodge make a fratzonic exhaust for a gas powered car just take a second to think about what you just said just now so you’re telling me you want a gas powered car with speakers as an exhaust? You people can’t be serious do you even know how the fratzonic exhaust even works? it’s a speaker attached to a pipe to mimic a real exhaust that you see on GAS powered cars if dodge did this it would make zero sense since it already would be able to produce sound you want fake sounds on a gas car ?
Was that the street takeover test they were performing? Making sure it checks that box I guess.
Terrible sound. Stop sharing these videos until you can't mimimc gear changing like Hyundai Ioniq 5 N does
Just think, instead of bolting on new mufflers to change of your car, the dealer will gladly charge you $5k to change a sales code in computer
The literal only car company in existence that builds cars they want and says fu to their customer base that are the reason there even still was a dodge.
These are cars no one wanted or asked for, that's just the hard truth.
Not the worst idea.
At least somebody is trying to give car enthusiasts what they want.
Thank you Dodge.
@jasonjonathan78 yes, but when they ban new ICE cars this isn’t the worst idea.
@jasonjonathan78 well I’m taking the Charlton Heston approach to my V8.
“From my cold dead hand!”
Thanks stellantis, for charging to much for mediocre vehicles and destroying brands we all loved ❤. Thank you 🙏
Why was this car not ready for 2024 model year? Meaning September 2023?!
