Magical games for a magical time, enjoy this list and don't miss all the other games I've been covering in the playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLYVqUDxY6COh7bkuJoBb1koNRX7mAX2yp.html Thank you!
@@Outmind01 Yeah before I never really did thematic lists because I was more focused on genres from a mechanical perspective. These recent lists are a bit of an experiment.
As a fan of Heroes, I will say some of what made those games great was the lore behind them, as those games were part of an expansive series, and seeing how things fit together, or even the stories they told, still stick with me 20+ years later. Heck, I still compare 'generational' games, where you play as a family line, to the Ancestor's campaign from Heroes 2's expansion. And to be blunt, this current era of the company is very...not as good on its lore. Not just for rebooting, which is understandable, if annoying, but also because it just never seems to take the same care with its plots, and the twists they did. Heck, sometimes, like with Heroes 5 a decade ago, it took a plot the series had ALREADY done, and did it worse. Still, I'll look into it when it comes out. Sometimes a team cares enough that they can get something great out under suboptimal conditions.
Still playing HOMM III-Horn of the Abyss...still the best, imho. Huge online mp community to include 'old school' lan & hotseat for those who want it. Plus...options that any current fantasy 4x would be well served to offer, but don't.
Ah, Simon the Sorcerer.. Wasn't that the first point-and-click adventure character to swear in a videogame, which was such an obscure fact that they reference it in the sequel? I never played those games myself, but classic point-and-click games can be fun so perhaps this one will be fun too. It does look nice at least!
Mind over magic is not a tycoon game. It has no business or profit elements to it. It's a school to train the ideal student that can help fight against the fog and monsters that lurk below. Graduating them for relics to help the ones left in the school to use to boost their magic. More rimworld and oxygen not included like. Tycoon would be dungeon tycoon theme hospital. Two point hospital. Where money is actually involved and you're trying to making a profit as a goal. Two Point campus is probably tycoon game. I own that but haven't played it yet.
It's crazy that Avowed is described as a Skyrim competitor, 13 years after Skyrim was published. It might be because of mods, but dang it, that game has staying power.
I don't think Avowed has much to do with Skyrim since it's not open world and more focused on story. Speaking of Obsidian, Tyranny is not a game about wizards per se, but it has a pretty great magic system where you design the spells how you want : combine say fire with all kinds of area sizes and shapes, damage over time, debuffs... that kind of thing
-Witchfire is fantastic, it's sort of a Dark Souls-like game rather than a rogue-lite, it's hard and you got to stay alive to get the rewards and exit or lose everything. It takes quite some time to get used to the mechanic and it's sad there isn't any co-op but the game is a blast and really impressive (Check Soulslinger: Envoy of Death if you want a pure rogue-lite which is just as fantastic) -Wizard of Legends 2 is a major disappointment, not the same devs but the ones who made Children of Morta. The game launched with little to no content and the roadmap is really thin compared to the first game. Right now, it's too much of the first game without any real innovation which the first game needed so much. -HoMM Olden Era looks nice but since it's a Ubisoft game and the company is not really in a good shape, I really hesitate to climb on board of the hype train. Other than that, quite some fun titles here, I've seen "Echoes of Mystralia" (I think it's the sequel of Mages of Mystralia) and "Legends of Elementia" both look pretty fun an unique.
in the opening sequenc you show a game at 0:02 of a pixel house. What is that from? I would like to know what game that is (title if you could please). Thank you very much.
Good work as always. God I hope they bring back classic Might and Magic (not heroes) from the 6-7-8 era. If they could release a remaster of those games with an editor so people can make towns and dungeons? It would be amazing. Holidaying in Philippines right now and enjoying the local food, but damn is Jolibees terrible, hahaha.
I've gotten countless comments from people saying "Skyrim is the best ever we don't need anything else!". If you and the people you know don't have that, then I'm not talking about you there.
@@GamerZakh Hehe. I do find it strange that some gamers would just play Skyrim non stop. NB: I think Avowed is designed as a more linear adventure, a bit like The Outer Worlds, so I think it indeed will not compete with Skyrim's wide open space and mods. So Skyrim permanent players need not worry :P. Logically, it is like talking about people who do not play any other RPG (?).

As a magic addict, i'm glad youtube recommended this video to me. Thanks for all the nice games.
OG creators of Might and Magic making an older style with modern QoL would be amazing on paper, hope they do a good job.
IIRC this is the first time you've made a magic-themed list. I like it, maybe if enough games keep coming out you can add it to your annual staples.

Hope the numbers work out! I like it, as a relatively new follower of your channel

Thank you for the video!
For some reason Witchfire reminds me of Lichdom: Battlemage.
I love your lists!! Thank you! Please keep them coming
Glad you're enjoying them! More on the way

simon the sorcerer reminds me a lot of discworld... heh

The MMM looks pretty fun
I like magic bases games! Thanks for the heads up! Have you covered MEMORIAPOLIS yet? I haven't seen anything but I could have missed it.
I haven't played it specifically but I covered it in my recent city-builders list.
@@GamerZakh Thanks I will go look for it!
Ah, the good old double syllable to avoid copyright and confusion. I was hoping that the Hexen-IP was finally let out to be enjoyed once again :(
Bro you always make the best lists
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying them
Is there a magical game about pants?
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 had a pair of golden pantaloons in them.
no but the developers of Mind Over Magic is called Sparky Pants. :)

I have big hopes about HOMM: Olden Era :D

Yeah that's Little Witch in the Woods
Curious if Nightcaster may be on here.

What was the don't starve style game that was in the intro?
That's Wizard With A Gun
great video
wish another
Wizard of legend 2 is garbage compared to the first game. They will need real magic to turn that into a decent game let alone a good one.
