@@ramiarr There's a difference between 2021 and 2022. And Microsoft has specifically said '2025' now, not in earnings calls but announced, it's more concrete. I give the benefit of the doubt for 2-3 years, then I get more sceptical and need more official confirmation. I've learnt my lesson from Throne and Liberty, which was an 'upcoming game' for 11 years before it finally released. That was 'supposed to release' 4-5 times? Over the decade. I've been making these lists for over 10 years now. There's a lot of specific reasons why I do everything I do with them. I could get into it but usually people don't care about my reasonings. If you do just ask and I'll answer.
@@GamerZakh Well iam honestly and the reason why I asked is because western outlets or i should say western gaming Western mainstream media neglect crimson desert which something I don't understand why. I didn't you know didn't mention it because it doesn't have a clear release window and all.
@@ramiarr Ah well I have mentioned it consistently for years now. For reference, I'm not western myself haha. I now live in the UK but I'm Malaysian. I cover games from all over the world. Sometimes I get surprised by media when they call things 'underrated' or 'unknown'. Just this past week, articles have been coming out saying "Steam's most slept on 2024 RPG" referring to Granblue Fantasy Relink, which I listed and it has 30K Steam reviews at about 90% positive. It's massively popular and I covered it, so I didn't realise a lot of media missed it before now. I've listed Crimson Desert every year for 2021, 22, 23, and 24. I will list it again for an 2025 RPG list, but for most anticipated specifically, the lack of even a rough release window, no Steam page, and other vagueness means there isn't much Crimson Desert to anticipate right now.
In mid-2023 they said it was 2-3 years away from release, so it's much more likely a 2026 release unless they're really on top of development and it's had its share of complication over the years.
I've listed Crimson Desert for years. It was supposed to release in "winter 2021" and it still doesn't have an official release window since. After giving it the benefit of the doubt in 2022, 23, and 24, I now need something more concrete. I learnt my lesson from Throne and Liberty, which was an 'upcoming game' for 11 years and was "supposed to release" 4-5 times over the decade.
@@calderarecords They didn't announce anything, it was loosely estimated in an earnings call which they have done before and it wasn't even recently. Those things are to please investors and it was just reported by an outlet. Nothing is announced. The gameplay is nice, and I've seen many gameplay videos of games that still took years to release. Not even counting downgrades. The only source for '2025' is this Korean article: www.insightkorea.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=123522 And as the article says itself is that Crimson Desert was delayed from 2024 to 2025 according to Kim Jin-goo, a researcher at Kiwoom Securities, a South Korean financial services company based in Seoul, who was talking to investors at the time when trying to impress investors. Besides the fact that this is about a delay, which was delayed from 2024, which was delayed from 2023, which was delayed from 2021, and can easily be delayed again considering they might want to dodge GTA6, which may or may not be delayed itself. And this was not 'recently' either, that earnings call was in 2023. And why did they release a gameplay video recently? Hmm let's read what Mr Kim said in that 2023 earnings call with investors: “However, from the perspective that users have continuously wanted continuous in-game footage rather than segmented in-game footage since the video was released at Gamescom in August, if more than six months have passed since Gamescom, there is a possibility that a situation could arise that is disadvantageous to the company in terms of user trust and global interest.” Oh, so just placating people so the money doesn't run out. If they're so confident about a 2025 release, they should put it in official writing on the website and a video while talking to the public, not investors. If you're gonna get upset at this, you really need to be more informed. All the while Pearl Abyss has been delaying DokeV again and again as well. Why do you trust them so much after all of this? 'lol'
Yeah because Civ VI was so popular and successful. It's currently the number 1 most played 4X in the world with nothing coming close to competing, in the top 20 on Steam, and sold millions more than Civ 5. Recent reviews are also 92% positive on Steam and it made 4 times more money than Civ 5 on Steam alone not counting console sales which Civ 5 has zero. Firaxis will definitely continue in that direction. The vast majority of players have voted with their wallets, playtime, and reviews. My warning is that whether or not you or I like Civ 6, Civ 7 will be more of that because of all this.
@@GamerZakh Makes sense. Will wait for reviews before buying Civilization VII, and see where it goes from there. New games haven't really excited me for the past 5 - 7 years. Maybe it is just me getting older^^
@@fingen3833 Haha getting old and more experienced is definitely a factor. Remember when the older generation was saying all our music "sounded the same"? That's happening for us and games now because we know where games stole their ideas. People on this video are saying games like Halo and Battlefield were 'innovative' so they loved them, when really they were just as iterative and derivative but they didn't play what came before. It's easy to be excited about something completely new, but things are only completely new when you don't have experience.

I don't mind what Ubisoft is doing with AC really, coming from Asia myself that's in line with a lot of media we have. Japan itself has a long history of using and adapting other cultures into their own media, mine included, so it's not really offensive or anything. @@GamerZakh yeah, with current Ubisoft reputation, it's bound to be bad :D But also, you're correct. It would be going towards MMO style and then the game would not make any sense because there's not enough people in the world to have so many assassins running around :D
"Evolution" of civilizations is not something new to the 4X games, it was done before in recent games and it's stupid : ) It's also called Civilization, the appeal of this game was always that you create your own civ and forcing you to change it to different one seems like someone kind of missed the point. Also, it's not like all the ancient Civs are gone already so there's no reason to force it on players unless they were just destroyed through some means, be it cultural or conquest, doesn't matter.
Any comment on the proposed ban of violent videogames by Trump, Republicans, in their Project 2025? They may have enough political capital to get it done now. It's risky to get into politics, but this could be very relevant to gaming. And you're a trusted voice. Worth considering a discussion at some point.
There isn't much new to be said about that which hasn't already been discussed over the last 30 years. It's pretty proven that violent video games don't cause violence, anyone over 30 has lived through that era and the evidence points to the contrary. I'm not in the US or a US citizen, so I'm not able to vote on anything there. I can't really think of a new point related to video games and violence.
It's really weird that some people are so affected by a woman being the main character. It's not like this list is filled with women protagonists, there are as many men protagonists. Girl boss? Is the lead of Ghost of Tsushima a boy boss? Doom guy is the biggest boy boss ever lol
all the female Main Characters... it's really boring. I didn't buy games where you couldn't choose between male / female. They should do an amazing XENA Game, howdy ho i would love to play an Amazon Female Warrior
You know how you can tell that you're biased? There are an equal number of male and female main characters in this video. Why does a 50/50 split make you point it out?
Just to break it down to save you the trouble: Can be either or both: 1. Monster Hunter 2. Civ 3. Dune 4. HoMM 5. Spire 6. Deadlock 7. Borderlands (?) 8. Light No Fire 9. Avowed 10. GTA Must be man: 1. Kingdom Come 2. Doom 3. Death Stranding Must be woman: 1. Yotei 2. Silksong (not human so does it even count?) 3. Fable With this list you then comment, "all the female Main Characters... it's really boring"?
@@Achill2105 I mean that's just kind of weird to bring it up on a video that proves what you're saying isn't accurate. These are the most wishlisted, most hyped, biggest games expected of the next year. This is the mainstream, the majority, and there's no 'wokeness'. It sounds like you've experienced a very minority experience and feel like it's the norm, when in reality there's no such generalness. Games of the last year? The biggest ones being Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Manor Lords, Helldivers 2, Palworld, Wukong, Elden Ring, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2? Man, man, man, man, man. If woman is an option, man must be an option. Overwhelmingly games are still male protagonist first, and your feeling like there's too many women characters in games just gets in the way of good storytelling. Any time a developer makes a main character, they have to default to 'man' with zero thought because of this sentiment which is blown out of proportion. 9/10 times when a designer wants to add a woman character, they're forced to add a man character to 'balance' the game. This has happened countless times. The idea that 'wokeness' is forcing women character is actually the opposite of what's happening. Developers are being forced to add men characters. The feelings you feel being spread is why now people are saying Ghost of Yotei is 'woke', just because the main character isn't a man. People are now saying Silksong is 'woke' because Hornet (the character) is a princess and not a prince. Do you know that people are now saying Tomb Raider, Lara Croft, the old games, are 'woke'? Because she's a strong woman main character, it's 'woke'. It's ridiculous and it means 'woke' has no real meaning besides being uninformed and prejudiced. It's at a point where if a game has a woman main character, it's automatically 'woke' just because of that. If you mean something else, you should say something else, because 'woke' now means this.
@@Achill2105 Just for a recent example, Civ 7 revealed their early leaders being Napoleon, Ashoka, Tecumseh, Confucius, Benjamin Franklin, Augustus... and Hatshepsut. Man, man, man, man, man, man, woman. And then people started saying Civ 7 is 'woke' because of too many women leaders. It's insane. You should stop saying 'woke' because these are the kind of people you are joining. Racists and sexists keep saying 'woke' and unless you're specific you sound just like them.

Interesting, but nothing really excited me though. I might just stick with classic oldies for awhile.
What's your current classic fave?
@@GamerZakh CIV 5 with lots of Mods, Rimworld with lots of mods, Medieval 2 totalwar with the Third Age and DAC mods, and Bannerlord with mods. Sea power in the missile age, also looks good.
Would someone get the reference? xD

How will I ever contain my hype for GTA 6, oh yeah it's not on PC.
PC is expected in 2027 from what we've heard.
Ronin is a samurai that just doesnt have a master or someone that he serves
@@ushiri2399 Ah yes so most likely Ronin. It's also apparently set at the time when the new shogunate abolished a lot of feudal lords' rules, so it's estimated 150,000 samurai became Ronin at the time. So the game is going to be filled with Ronin.
Well, that was an uninspiring collection of upcoming new games apart from GTA6.
@@workhorse7134 Haha everyone is always "they all suck except my personal favourite". You're not supposed to like everything in a list you know?
I am shocked, SHOCKED I say, that Assassin's Creed Shadows isn't in this list.
Yes, I am kidding.
On a more serious note, meh, nothing in this list really excites me personally. These new modern games are so not my thing apparently.
It's likely gonna be fine, but how hype can you get for like the 20th AC game in 17 years?
@@GamerZakh Yeah it's gonna be fine. Nothing spectacular. Just another Ubislop game that's 7/10.
AAA games are necessarily boring. Too much at stake to be anything remotely unpredictable.
Yeah you can't innovate and profit at the same time. To innovate means to do something new, something new means it doesn't have an established audience who would buy it. Truly original games tend to be financial flops. The game that steals the idea and iterates a tiny bit makes bank.
Zakh, does this mean, you are 100% sure that Stalker 2 will come out in 2024??? I hope you are correct on this one!
KDC2, Borderlands 4, HoMM Olden Era, Doom, GTA6... Avowed has garbage laggy and stuttery melee just like Spacemarine 2 has...:((
Stalker 2 is set for release on 20th November. It's got a date. It could of course be delayed but 6 weeks to go and a specific date set, I have to take them at their word.

Not mentioning crimson desert is a crime
@@ramiarr I've listed Crimson Desert for years. It was supposed to release 'Winter 2021'. I'll talk about it again when it's actually here.
@@GamerZakh
Didn't fable was also supposed to release in 2023 or 22 But they rebooted the whole thing?
Not mention in their last earning call pearl abyss said they will enter marketing phase near the end of 2024. Which indicates as 2025 release date and they finished development, but optimization is left. They also had a playable demo in Gamescom where many games in the video don't even have gameplay trailers. This game is qualified to be among this list with all my respect for your effort. 👍
@@GamerZakh
Well iam honestly and the reason why I asked is because western outlets or i should say western gaming Western mainstream media neglect crimson desert which something I don't understand why.
Stalker my friend
Releasing 20th November this year, so not a 2025 game.
perfect dark
In mid-2023 they said it was 2-3 years away from release, so it's much more likely a 2026 release unless they're really on top of development and it's had its share of complication over the years.
CRIMSON DESSERT??? DA FAQ?!
@@GamerZakh They announced recently that it's due for Q2 next year and released over 50 minutes of in-game footage is all lol!
The only source for '2025' is this Korean article: www.insightkorea.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=123522
And as the article says itself is that Crimson Desert was delayed from 2024 to 2025 according to Kim Jin-goo, a researcher at Kiwoom Securities, a South Korean financial services company based in Seoul, who was talking to investors at the time when trying to impress investors.
Hmm let's read what Mr Kim said in that 2023 earnings call with investors:
“However, from the perspective that users have continuously wanted continuous in-game footage rather than segmented in-game footage since the video was released at Gamescom in August, if more than six months have passed since Gamescom, there is a possibility that a situation could arise that is disadvantageous to the company in terms of user trust and global interest.”
Oh, so just placating people so the money doesn't run out.
'lol'
HOMM? woo!
Civilization Vi was a no-go for me. I didn't like the districts. Seems like Civilization VII will be building upon that, sadly.
It's easy to be excited about something completely new, but things are only completely new when you don't have experience.
glad to see you focus on Ghost of Yōtei and not mention Ubisoft´s "there where black guys in Edo era Japan you know" game ;)
I like Ubisoft (and i hope they do well with Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era) but they really need to get their s*** together
I don't mind what Ubisoft is doing with AC really, coming from Asia myself that's in line with a lot of media we have. Japan itself has a long history of using and adapting other cultures into their own media, mine included, so it's not really offensive or anything. That game is not here just because it's another Ubisoft open world action adventure game and it's what the 20th Assassin's Creed game? How hype can you really get for the 20th game in a series in less than 20 years? If I did an open world list or a samurai list then I'd list it.
@@GamerZakh when you say it like that, I'm surprised that no one in there has pitched a huge open world AC game where you can actually travel between countries and then just do DLC's for each country or something like that :)
@@GorimLivingstone Although a cool idea, it sounds like the pitch is "Ubisoft Live Service AC MMO" and I don't have the most confidence in that being good haha
Yasuke (Japanese: 弥助 / 弥介, pronounced [jasɯ̥ke]) was a man of African origin who served as a samurai to daimyō Oda Nobunaga between 1581 and 1582, during the Sengoku period, until Nobunaga's death in the Honnō-ji Incident. -- Wikipedia
I'm not sayin' it's gonna be a good game, but there is some historical precedent for what they're doing. Everyone's just on a hair trigger these days.
Silksong ain't never coming out. 😂
@@GamerZakh I guess if/when it happens, there will be a million rants about it.

Please tell me the Ghost of Yotei's main protagonist is not a girl boss samurai.
It's really weird that some people are so affected by a woman being the main character. It's not like this list is filled with women protagonists, there are as many men protagonists. Girl boss? Is the lead of Ghost of Tsushima a boy boss? Doom guy is the biggest boy boss ever lol
Incredible by definition means not credible.
Because of etymological shift, it has many definitions now much like most words.
Dune meh.
all the female Main Characters... it's really boring.
Just to break it down to save you the trouble:
Can be either or both:
1. Monster Hunter
2. Civ
3. Dune
4. HoMM
5. Spire
6. Deadlock
7. Borderlands (?)
8. Light No Fire
9. Avowed
10. GTA
Must be man:
1. Kingdom Come
2. Doom
3. Death Stranding
Must be woman:
1. Yotei
2. Silksong (not human so does it even count?)
3. Fable
With this list you then comment, "all the female Main Characters... it's really boring"?
@@GamerZakh i refer not to this video. I refer to all the games in the last year. And the generell wokness in the American society!
