I cannot thank you enough for this video. I've been struggling the whole year trying to make the 5-year work for me, because I like the *idea* of it. But I cannot get myself to stick to it. It's become nothing more than an extra chore (I also use an A6 and a Weeks daily). Watching your video felt like removing a weight off my shoulders, and somehow felt like "permission" to let it go. Thank you for articulating the issue of double journaling so eloquently.
Aw I'm glad to hear that 💕 I get everything you said and I'm guessing you may feel the same but it wasn't easy to decide to let it go. Almost a year later now and it was the right decision for me ♫꒰・◡・๑꒱ Hope that provides some comfort. Thanks so much for commenting, all the best for your 2024!
Thank you for the video. I've been thinking about ways to use the five-year and double journaling was an issue I thought about. You gave me the idea to use it for “working” my word/vision for the year. I think it can help keep me accountable. Thank you!
Oh I love that! Connecting it with your word as a common thread throughout is something really lovely and I feel like it would mean so much at the end of the year. That's an amazing idea 🌟
This has been so helpful since I was planning on getting a 5 year techo for 2024-2028 as a way to track changes til I reach the beautiful 30✨️ But, I totally agree with you that double journaling is an issue, as I also use a lot of space for memory keeping. So I think instead, like what other comments have suggested, I might think of using a regular techo for memory keeping & fun. And instead use the 5 year techo as an: 1) index to the memory-keeping but most importantly 2) a way to track + compare long term goals/accomplishments in the next 5 yrs (ie. my small business growth, reflecting on personal lessons with practicing mindfulness+being more present, tracking savings for a house, etc) Plus, doing this would help fill up the diary! [ A personal battle I've recently learned to let go with the regular techo, since I understand not everyday is exciting nor will I always have something to say... But for a planner as expensive, large and spans 5 years like this, it gives me more guilt when pages go unused..] So, I think with the ideas others have commented about using 5yr to accompany your weekly memory-keeping journal rather than replacing it or doubling/copying the same entry, I feel your 5yr could become more enjoyable and resourceful. ☺️💕
I love your ideas and how you put it is such a nice blend of memories and goals. I'm similar that I enjoy re-reading what I wrote about in my past journals as 1) to remember the events and 2) to see how far I've come and changed as a person. Your thoughts also sparked the idea that maybe I can go back and write down moments of growth or reaching a personal goal. I just got stuck in having to write everyday, knowing that I'd rather reread it in my journal with all the photos and deco. But using the 5-year like you said, as a place to capture specific moments that stand out for my personal growth will help me identify the small victories. I'm also into personal growth and mindfulness and I think this will help fill up the diary. I really appreciate your thoughtful comment and I'm happy you found this video helpful. I didn't include my 5-year in my planner lineup but your comment helped my find the motivation that I felt that I lost with it. Thank you so so much 。*⭒⑅ ˙ྌ˙⑅⭒*。
@@himawaristationery You are literally the sweetest 🥺😭🤧💖 I’m so glad it was inspiring to you and sparked ideas again! You seem so creative, thoughtful and tender-hearted about memory keeping, I’d love to see your techo kaigi in future videos. It’d be lovely to see how your lineup reflects on your values ☺️💖
Update: I have since started another 5 yr techo specifically for my art journey and long term creative projects. To remind me of the little dreams/goals I make happen along the way. My first 5yr techo has become solely for my growth in practicing mindfulness and navigating personal views on spirituality or self-reflection. It has helped put me at ease at times of inner turmoil as someone who often stayed up at night with an overwhelming amount of self-awareness and too many questions. Having a place to put it all down, has given me my own place of peace & and reinforced that the only thing constant in life is change. That is all to say, it has given me a spark of excitement/joy again to be a constant student of life. And to see how I continue to grow, learn or re-learn as the years go & I get older. Of course, I understand everyone journals for different reasons. And that not everyone enjoys getting older. But I just wanted to give an update for those still unsure if a 5 yr will work for them or how they could use it. ❤️
i love your idea of starting a 5-year diary to document your years leading up to being 30 - it's something i'm going to start doing next year for my own journey to turning 30. thank you so much for sharing 😊
I'll definitely have to revisit your suggestions, because both are ideas I haven't even considered. You got me thinking about if I index, then I can take my time and design each day and even draw something that I wouldn't have been able to. I really appreciate your comment, thank you 🙌
Same! I wanted to love the 5-year spread but it love memory keeping in the Weeks at the moment. And I got that cover secondhand on Mercari, lightly used but I like the black color compared to the current ones.

Beautiful review. Your thoughtful explanation of how you use the Weeks made me reconsider my strictly utilitarian approach to a planner. Thank you🙏🏻
Aww I really appreciate hearing that! And hope you find a good balance for your planner 💕
I’m so glad im not the only one who likes the weeks over the five year. Also I like being able to have a highlight on the months too.

You could use the 5 yr Techo as a catalog or index of what kind of memories you have in your weeks through 5 years.
I'll definitely have to revisit your suggestions, because both are ideas I haven't even considered. You got me thinking about if I index, then I can take my time and design each day and even draw something that I wouldn't have been able to. I really appreciate your comment, thank you 🙌
I had a similar issue with the double journaling. I realized I can only memory keep in one place. 🙃 Also, where did you get that cover?
Same! I wanted to love the 5-year spread but it love memory keeping in the Weeks at the moment. And I got that cover secondhand on Mercari, lightly used but I like the black color compared to the current ones.
Is this an original cover by hobonichi? I've never seen this before.. 😮😮😮
It is, it came out the first year of the 5-year techo in 2018. I really liked the black version🙌
@@himawaristationery ooh wow. I totally missed out on this one 😭😭😭😭
