Loved this comparison between the two 5 years. Thank you for sharing the awesome story about being influenced to journal because of your great aunt. I love that you took the time to share that background with us. New subscriber!

I am actually going to (more than likely, anyway) finally get a hold of my Aunt Cassie's little diary this weekend and hope to make a video soon about it. I think it would be amazing to talk more about it and give a glimpse into her life throughout the decades.
I do feel like it's a special connection between us, even though I never got to meet her. I've heard so many good things about her, I would be proud to talk more about her on my channel, and I hope she would be happy to be featured lol.
Thanks so much for watching!! :)

Just wanted to say how much i enjoy your videos. The J Herbin ink swabs got me ordering my own.
I watch UA-cam mostly on "Smart" TV but do not have the option to comment so I thought I'd get on my phone to thank you.
Keep up the excellent and interesting posts.
    All the best

May I ask what aspects of each day you have found to be most interesting/insightful to capture to compare over the years?
I’m considering main days events, mood, food, weather, reading/listening to/watching, learning, any synchronicities, intentions….

Aloha! Thanks for taking the time to compare those two journals/diaries. I was just going with the "safe" and cheap choice of the Leuchtturm, but I don't have any experience with using a Leuchtturm journal, so I have no idea how the paper handle fountain pen inks. I currently use a different ink and/or pen daily for my daily journal and thought I would use that same pen for the daily entry into a 5 year diary, so the paper would need to be fountain pen friendly. And believe it or not, I very rarely use Tomoe River, although I do have some Endless notebooks sitting un-used. I inquired with JetPens and they say that the Apica has 86.5gsm paper (hence the 865 you see written on the back page?) so it's slightly thicker than the Leuchtturm and I believe coated as well, so that makes me more comfortable. I currently use cheap Paperage (sold by Amazon) and it does well with just about every ink I have used, except for Noodlers Rome Burning where it will bleed some. Of course no sheen and shading is a bit subdued, but it's cheap and I don't have to "conserve" and limit my writing. Sorry for the rambling there. Looks like the Apica will be my choice too? With my luck, JetPens will sell out when I finally decide .... Stay safe and Mahalo, Thomas

Hii. Did you ever make that video of your aunt's journal? I'd love to see it

I did not! I actually forgot about that. I have her journal, I need to do that. Thanks for reminding me!

I have been thinking about getting the Midori 5 year diary. Interesting to see these two. Thanks for the review.

I also considered the Midori, but liked the internal layout of the Apica better, so ruled that out early on. They have lovely covers, though!
