      What did you torque the bolts to on your 2011 water pump?

      I think the torque is 8lbs but I always snug them till I feel them stop turning.

    You can use an Allen key to stop the pulley from moving while taking the bolts off, stick it into the slot.

      Good catch.
      Looks to be a piece of old gasket material.

    Is best to leave the belt on first to remove the bolts

  • @mekonnenkahsay4319
    @mekonnenkahsay4319 Рік тому +1

    You should loosen the water pump bolt before you remove the belt it would be easier for you just a suggestion

    You never showed putting the serpentine belt on... I know you said you were talking to a customer but you skip that last part and how difficult it is to get the alternator back on also the serpentine belt

    • @anonymousheart3827

      @rodm2345 don't quote me, it's been a bit but I believe it took a full large bottle of pink Toyota approved coolant.

      @Anonymous Heart Thanks I know you said it's been a while but did you flush the system? Or did you just pull the pump out let whatever drained out drain installed and put new coolant? Did you burp it after?

    Would you happen to know what the water house that runs from the rear thermostat hub I believe to the water pipe in the back. Sort of an L shape hose.

    • @Repairsbyctop

      I'm not sure without the vehicle in front of me at this moment.
      Could be a bypass hose or heater hose.

    Please remember to crank the vehicle first before pouring the coolant, so you won't pop the head gasket

    Hi There
    I saw you use flex head ratchet with 14 MM socket and you easily loose the tension from tensioner and remove the belt.
    I have 2009 camry and cannot use flex head ratchet with my 14 MM socket. Have to work around wrench and for me it's kind of touch job.
    Appreciate if you can share what's your socket depth/part number or anything and what kind of flex head ratchet you used?
    Also what's the year of your camry?

    • @Repairsbyctop
      @Repairsbyctop  3 роки тому

      Sorry for the late reply.
      Hopefully you was able to get it done.
      The Ratchet is a Snap-on and it's just a standard short socket. Harbor Freight sells a thin flex head ratchet that have 3/8" on one end and 1/4" on the other end that'll work great.

      I used a ratchet to break the bolts lose first then I used a electric ratchet to quickly get the bolts out.

    when taking off the alternator do you have to disconnect the battery?
    Or can i do it with that on

      I didn't because I didn't want to reset the system and I was careful.

    Good job. According to the manufacturer of the water pump, AISIN, you're not supposed to put the sealant in the groove but on the exterior. Check their video out: ua-cam.com/video/CToF0YsAZyM/v-deo.html
    Also, better to use a plastic scraper than a metal one to avoid gouging the surface of the engine where the water pump goes.

    Dude I'm working on it as we speak... At 10 minutes in this video what you're trying to do to get those four bolts off I can't get these mother f****** off man really pissing me off and I'm trying to be patient

    • @Repairsbyctop
      @Repairsbyctop  3 роки тому +1

      I just saw your reply.
      You have to try to hold the pulley by prying a screwdriver between two of the bolts or one bolt and the section of shaft that sticks out in the center of the bolts while you loosen one of the other two bolts. It's easier to do this with the belt still on.

      @@Repairsbyctop I found a better way using a super huge big pair of pliers and it was able to grab the Polly on the sides with those pair of big pliers... and then used a wrench to get off the bolts... So it worked out but now I can't get the damn alternator back on LOL so I quit for the day and I'm going to finish it tomorrow and then... I have the challenge of putting on the serpentine belt LOL
      Not looking forward to sweating my ass off straining in frustration and getting bit by flies and eaten by mosquitoes SMH but whatever it is what it is next time I'm just going to hire mechanic to do it somebody was already experienced... But I appreciate your videos and other people's videos that teach people how to do repairs:-) thank you for your time
