Excellent Instructional video. I will be doing the same to my car but a Z4 e85. I have a refurbished subframe already blasted and painted read to go in. I'll be definitely watching and doing this when i start the process of stripping it all out. Thanks
hey so i noticed the way you’re axle but was bent into those little rivets. and your had to unbend it before loosening. when installing how should i bend it like that?
Yes, i remove it because i will have a new wheel bearing. It is not 100% nessasery for this job. Generally new bering come with new nut which you should bend in the same way. If you reinstalling old one yes bend it twice
@@mekanic3769 I got a new nut. should i just use a screwdriver or something to bend it? also im not doing this job yet just watching, right now im rebuilding after a crash almost done tho
Yes it's a hard job. Don't know about 4k thought, it is really depend on the quality of work. Usually services don't have much attention for details.but If your guys is good and could restore every single bolt and replace every single clip. i think price is ok for England
Why wouldn’t you just remove the actual whole subframe from the actual car underneath and I’m restore all the parts want you actually have the whole subframe off?
@@mekanic3769 sorry i haven’t watched every part so i don’t know how extensive your restoration is. but yes it is much easier to not deal with the axle nuts if you’re just trying to get the subframe out. props though, i know those can be a pita
@@mekanic3769 I owned 20yr old volvo, never kept it in garage and undercarriage looked almost like brand new. Now I own 20yr old E46, it has less rust than yours but nontheless it makes me sick just looking at it. Volvo kept outside, E46 kept inside.
Loved this. Nice to see real world problems working off axle stands 😊
Thanks man)

What did you do with the calipers, disconnected the hose completely?
Nope, i leave it as it is. Hanging under the car. Just make some support to not damage hose

Great series mate. Would you say its a hard job?? UK garages want 4000Euro for this work.

why did u have to remove the axle nuts?
Mm? Which ones?
why do you disconnect the wheel hub why not drop it all at once?
I will be restoring them any way. So why not disconnect it right now? The whole subframe will be easier to remove
Needs PB Blaster by the bucketful
Is it wd40 analog?

Part 2?
Yea there is)
Its a pity for the rust
But what can you expect in your's geographic location, a lot of salt means a lot of rust.

man, im not sure that im understand you
he did !

i find it hilarious you removed the axles for this. such a waste of time and effort

BMW and it's shitty design made with no rust protection. Working on 20 year old BMW is a nightmare, working on 20 year old Volvo is pure pleasure.
Depends more on usage conditions

Volvo is the same shit! I had my volvo for 5 years and rusty as hell!
Besides of that, bmw is much mkre easy to reapair!
