As someone who did this already: You should've treated that rust underneath your cylinder roller bearings if you've already took out the rear subframe. If that rust is left untreated, it could rip your chassis open
@@GioBMXI‘m german 😅I mean the other 4 bearings on your subframe except the Diff bushings. Above those for bushings, it is very likely that there is going to be rust. If you leave that rust untreated, it’ll most likely rip apart your chassis on that 4 points
@@kuma7526oh I know what you mean, I plan to re do the subframe mounting points and do a full M3 rear subframe conversion later on. So I’ll just end up doing it all at once
@@ddbbuilds get it down to bare metal. If it’s already rusted through, get yourself the repair kit. You’ll need to weld tho. After that, get some primer and spray the surfaces you grinded free. Really important to not forget: This is the underside of a car, so you‘ll need some undercoat spray, because it’s some rubberized black paint. This process took me 8 days doing this alone, basically working 10 hours a day. You’ll need new bolts and nuts for your rear axle carrier and don’t be shy to do everything once the rear axle of the car is out. If you already have it out, do everything you have to do on the rear axle.
Good stuff. nice e46
aye man when this happened did you notice a clunking when taking off from stoplights? almost like a banging sound from the rear end?
