      What kind of paint are you painting on the underside of the car?

    • @OEMplusRESTO
      @OEMplusRESTO  8 місяців тому +6

      Thank you. Thats kind of you. Theres definitely is a lot of planning and work involved, so i appreciate the recognition. I use hammerite paint on the underside. There are probably better alternatives out there, but this has worked for me so far.

    What's your take on powdercoating the suspension parts instead of hammerite? Or maybe both would be good (powder + hammerite) ?

    • @OEMplusRESTO
      @OEMplusRESTO  4 місяці тому

      Powdercoat will always beat regular hammerite or any other paint. I hope i havent made an impresseion it wont. For me its a matter of getting stuff dione at my own pace without involving anyone else in it. Being i mainly drive n good weather hammerite will get me s long way but powdercoat would get me a mot further honestly, im a broke boy lol. Evwry dollar saved i can use on other mods that matter more

From my own experience: if something like the engine mount piece is rusty, you wont overcome the rust with paiting....just put on grease/wax and it will stay brown and ugly but it wont rust further or very slow

    I wanna do this level of restoration to my 330ci however step 1 is to have a ramp and the tools 😢 as someone who is self taught and in a family that doesnt already have tools, having to buy the tools along the way is a bummer. Hoping to do my manual swap this summer and aspire to complete my build to this standard :)

      Tools and equipment are the biggest costs. And time. The car is cheap in comparison:) i hope you one day will find all of the above. In the meantime, park it in a garage or a carport, amd keep up om the oilchanges. Thank you for the nice words

    That was amazing what a talented and hard working guy you are. I have a 2003 E39 530i Msport which definitely needs the same treatment although I think I might now just paint the break callipers which is probably the limit of mine mechanical skills but your still a great inspiration and that underside paint colour is cool . Keep the videos coming I just subscribed for more inspiration ....👍

    I just saw that my comment didnt post on the video! :D
    Great video! I really liked the little "timelapse" of all the previous videos leading up to this now perfect car :)
    I would be scared to even park the car outside now with all the salt in the winter times here in germany :D
    Also if you ever want to use my mike sanders kit for a future video you can hit me up and ill send it to you !

      Thank for the offer. Is ot a kit to blowrust prevention inside small areas a bruah cant get to?

    • @TOTALdAk1nG
      @TOTALdAk1nG 8 місяців тому

      @@OEMplusRESTO Yea and also the mike sanders fat itself :)
      Its used for places like the rear fenders to let the fat creep into the deep spots and prevent water from getting there :D
      Every summer it becomes loose again and creeps further so its a do once forever thing
