I don't know why but I feel like Ryan smells like cinnamon rolls. It's a Saturday morning, it's raining outside and I'm wrapped in a blanket drinking a cup of coffee and eating a recently baked, homemade cinnamon roll. I'm cozy and for a few moments everything is good in the world. That's how Ryan makes me feel.
Thanks for showing your whole process, Ryan! It’s really awesome to have people like you and David F Sandburg who are willing to peel back the curtain of filmmaking!
What you say at about 4:35, about stuff you shot gets worse over time and you ask yourself whether it was a good idea or not, is totally true! When I look back to some stuff I did, I don't like it the same way I did before. But that is a common and normal thing.
I learned CTRL + Shift makes your timeline scroll up and done for either audio of video depending on which one you have your mouse over.... Mind blow, thank you Lucas.
So excited to see this when it's finished! Film Riot inspired us to try our hands at Horror. Can't wait to see the leaps and bounds you guys have taken since TELL!
Thanks for the video. I have a lot of work editing my daughter's videos ... It's not easy to direct the movies and at the time of editing I suffer a lot... I hope your movie look amazing. Good luck.
Good god I have missed your warm soothing tones Ryan. It makes me warm and fuzzy inside. Almost as much as when Josh is on. I so want to grow up and be like Lucas. Was this too much fanboying?
Just started a big edit for my short and I am pretty nervous. I have been working on it for 4 years mainly because of life events. I needed a bit of emotional support so I turned to film Riot lol!! Not sure how I missed the episode but it’s awesome. Quite envious of that editing set up I have to say!! Defo enjoy the VLOG style of this episode too. Not many can make engaging VLOGS successfully but this is a winner.
I have learned so much from you guys and Peter mckinnion and the crew I'm still learning every time my struggle is I edit with iMovie for now hopefully soon to be getting final cut pro thx for all u do to inspire ppl like me to go and create
A few months ago, I was editing a short. I actually did like Lucas, just for fun of course My Friend (Director Guy) reacted just like Ryan It's a good memory, Thank you for bringing it back
Hey hopefully you or another filmmaker can help me with this. I recently had my first DP gig on a low budget film. We didn’t slate and the director was also in control of the audio/boom. Long story short, the editing process is a PAIN! Hundreds of audio files with no kind of organization to make it easier to match the files that needed to be synced. Literally having to listen to every file as well as trying to remember the days and orders of everything shot is tedious as hell. What is the proper way to manage the audio and video files so that editing and syncing in post is way easier. Mind you I’m NOT talking about syncing the clips in post but more so I’m talking about FINDING the correct ones to match the video it needs to be synced with. PLEASE anyone help. Thanks :)
I really relate with the scares and creepiness watering down as you work on a project. I'm about to go into production of a horror short and in my nervousness I keep second guessing if it's actually creepy.
I am doing the exact same thing at the moment. It is a strange film that I have never made before and just started editing last night. Doubt has made a nest in my mind for a while now. But I find that despite that terrible feeling I have a large sense that I need to finish the project. A bad project is away better than the one you never finished ;) Keep going.
Looks like some crazy pancake editing or something! I love it! What the heck is that other thing? something for all your macros and hot keys?? Homeboys legit AF
So excited for this short and I hope you guys get the greenlight for the feature film. Good luck! The last scene though 😂 it should be a post credit scene in the feature film😂

I love the editing vlogs! Lucas and Ryan dream team 🔥
There was something about the editing in this one?
I love how you’ve been doing this for so long, but you never seem tired of it. You’re still having fun
Did you know the phrase, “I edited it” is just, “I edit edit” 🤯
9:12
LMAO
Now I can't say I edited it without saying I edit edit. Thanks for fucking up my speech 😂
Thanks for showing your whole process, Ryan! It’s really awesome to have people like you and David F Sandburg who are willing to peel back the curtain of filmmaking!
While I miss the no budget / lower budget / early days of Film Riot, the higher end stuff we get now is def entertaining and educational.

if you go to film school you would have a similar experience lol
Honestly, the Bruton Stroube house and Lucas' room in particular look like every filmmaker's absolute dream office!
Ansina!
That ending though. LOL.
I cannot wait to see, "There Comes A Knocking".
Lord... What a sweet facility. I work on a Frankenstein PC on a TV tray.

That last clip alone made my day 100% better.
Short is great. I love how very short it is. So effective.
Yes that time again editing 💙
Ryan you need to make this kinda vlog more, amazing.
Both are so different. I get a feeling that Lucas is so freaking talented that Ryan is cool to put up with :) love this environment, guys
Might be the best trailer I've ever watched!
Film riot. Could you please make a tutorial on how to do the "super sonic flight" where you break the sound barrier?
Looking great..! Can't wait..!

Very cool , as per usual. I would like to know about the vertical monitor on the left....how is that done ?
As I'm editing a short film right now, thats very helpful.
Thanks for all the education guys! :-)
great video, thanks for the insight.. and that vertical monitor next to the curved one is a slick idea!!
Was chicken still closed?
Editors go crazy after a few years
Ryan I can’t wait to see this!!! Love all you do!
Ryan slowly loses his mind as the video progresses
The future of filmaking is in good hands.
For me this is your first vlogging video since i follow your channel
Started spitting some FACTS around 4:20 🙌🏻
So excited for the finished film!
Can you guys figure out how to do the effect from Ultra Violet where the gun materializes in her hand?
Great insight and cool track!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Awesomeness great video thank you for sharing.

It would be great if Lucas show us a quick view of the workflow by editing a short film. Like arranging clips, audio and other quick tips.
I am pretty sure they did one of these when doing Ballistic. Lucas has a great system and workflow.
amazing building
Would love to hear your thoughts on that Aero laptop, and whether or not you think it could be a good mobile workstation.
This video feels so refreshing, you should do more vloging, you are quite good at it!
Is it weird that I still think about "Chicken was closed" to this day?
LOL.. Lucas I love the trailer. All hands down.
A few months ago, I was editing a short. I actually did like Lucas, just for fun of course
My Friend (Director Guy) reacted just like Ryan

You guys are awesome!
Why didn’t you upload this week? I’m having film riot withdraw
Love it, can’t wait to see it! I also would love to hear about your experience judging the My Rode Reel film competition
Do you edit every scene in an extra timeline and how to reassemble it later?
Film Riot = The bast part of my day! ...and *best too.
I need more Ryan Vlogs!!
From the Visionary editor of ballistic!
6:58 from the top make it drop thats some wap
That trailer's got me hyped
I've always wondered what his G13 layout looks like. I use one for editing also and am constantly fiddling with it.
Hi Ryan, I wanted to know if the first rough cut is made by the editor alone or do you sit with him during that.
Thanks 😀😀
Love this.
lucas cameos are so welcome!
Always my favourite UA-cam channel❤
