    Hi again cousin. I couch the same way. It is a lot faster than back stitching. I especially like it in organic things like faces and leaves and where there are long stretches of back stitching required. I agree I like it much better than the blockier back stitching. Thanks for sharing great to see you take care and , until next time happy stitching. ❤️ 🌹 🧵

      🦋😁 Hi cousin Kelly. You are right, couching is particularly good for outlining faces in particular. You seem to be a natural fit for couching, being so artistic. Take care ~ love to the fur babies xx:):)🌹

    Watching this a bit late. It is so very helpful. Your geishas are stunning and inspire me to stitch. Thank you for having taken the time to share your skills. I have a Dimensions kit (Parrot Tulips) that will require a lot of curved back stitching and your suggestion to substitute back stitching with couching was very useful. The loop start to anchor both threads is genius. Blessings.

      🦋 Thankyou so much for your company! I think that couching is ideal for curves in stitching and the effect is so much more natural. Happy Stitching xx:):)🌹

    I completely despise back stitching and will try to avoid any pattern with back stitching. I’m working on a Mirabilia that has a little bit of back stitching. After watching your video I am completely hooked to couching. Thank you so much.

      🦋💕😁 Thankyou so much for taking the time to tell me this. I am so glad that you have given couching a try Melana. I look forward to my couching because it makes the whole highlighting experience so enjoyable. You will find it gets easier and easier as you find your own little tricks and develop your own style with couching. I wish you a lovely festive season and a great New Year to follow! xx :):)🌹

      🦋😁 It really does save a huge amount of time. Straight lines are so easy. If you are outlining a house and/or a roof for example, the top thread only needs to be anchored by 4 or 5 loop stitches on top, depending on the size of the house and it looks great (in my view anyway! ) lol xx:):)🌹

    Thank you so much for showing how you do couching and how you grid your fabric. I have always disliked the look of back stitching as well as having to do it. I am going to give both of these two methods a try. Your stitching is absolutely beautiful. I love watching your videos, I feel like I am visiting with a really good friend.

      🦋😁 Thankyou so much for your kind words, just lovely of you to say. It is my hope that stitchers give the couching in particular try, because it makes outlining so much more satisfying and allows the individual stitcher to be more creative as well. I hope you enjoy it! All the best and the Happiest of Stitching 2020 to you xx:):)🌹

      🦋😁 It will be so good if you give it a go, Shawne! I have found that the prospect of the backstitching part so much more relaxing now. To know that outlining a piece will not take anywhere near the laborious hours it did previously is quite liberating too. Maybe if you just try a small area and see how you feel about it. Blessings sent from Mary 🌹 xx:):)

    Oh my gosh Mary Rose, I just tried your couching method and I love it! I got so excited about being able to do it and I absolutely love how it looks. I will never again dread back stitching again. When I am done with this janlynn kit called 10 commandments for stress reduction I am going to try your grid method on the dimensions gold collection kit called Christmas village ornaments. Thank you once again for sharing these videos, can't wait to see your next video.

    • @stitchblisscorner

      🦋😁 What a lovely comment x. Thankyou so much for taking the time to do that. I am so glad that you gave it a go. Good luck with your gridding also. It does take a while to put the grids in, but it makes stitching so much more relaxed and you can approach your stitching piece with so much more confidence. Plus, you know in advance that your choice will fit on your fabric before you start. This saves a lot of tears down the track. All the very best to you and happy stitchy 2020. xx :):)🌹

    You do beautiful and very difficult work! I love it! And thank you for showing us how to do couching! I only have a question, do you wash and iron your work after is finished? I've only done the couching once, but after I finished my work with the couching done at the end, I washed it like I normally do with other finished pieces and my couching didn't look as perfect as it did before I washed and ironed my work! So I was a little disappointed about that!🙈 can you tell me if you wash and iron your work after you're done? Thank you anyway! 🙌👏👏👏👏

    • @stitchblisscorner
      @stitchblisscorner  4 роки тому +1

      😁🦋 Hello to you and thankyou for your company. I usually wash my work to set the stitches, and then iron it, and I have not noticed anything afterwards with my couching that would worry me, but then again I am not as meticulous about my finishes as I could be! I could only suggest to you that you wash and iron your work before you couch next time just to see if couching after washing your work will do the trick for you; with perhaps a light ironing at the end before framing. As a matter of fact, I might follow my own advice and give that suggestion a try myself! Happy Stitching 2020. xx:):)🌹

    I have never seen a pattern refer to couching. When do you choose to use that method rather than backstitching?

    • @stitchblisscorner
      @stitchblisscorner  4 роки тому +1

      🦋😀 Thankyou for joining me. Occasionally there are references to couching in older charts. Many of the newer charts keep outlining to a minimum and use confetti to suggest shaping. When the object of the exercise is to outline an area of stitching with thread, especially where it is a long area such as the edge of a garment, the quickest and best method of outlining that I prefer is to couch. However if the area is small, and only requires a relatively small number of stitches, I would probably just backstitch. The exception to that would be if I were to be outlining anything curved. Large or small, everything that I outline that is curved, I couch. I think it gives a more natural look and it is much quicker. I hope that answers your question! Happy Stitching 2020 xx:):)🌹

    • @Qsquires
      @Qsquires 4 роки тому

      @@stitchblisscorner You have no idea how you have changed my stitching. I have been s frustrated with the simple designs that don't even use 1/2 or 1/4 stitches to try to shape the object and then expect a backstitch to define something that is not even there. Now I have a tool to use to make my end result look curved and pleasant. THANK YOU
