My mind is absolutely blown. I learned the loop start YEARS after I started stitching and thought that I had learned the most awesome technique. However, I started a big project a little over a year ago where about 90% of the stitches are with blended threads... I've watched countless videos and NOT A SINGLE one has shown either the loop finish or the single thread loop start. THANK YOU for sharing your techniques!
I've been stitching for over 40 years, you learn your basic skillset as a beginner and then you get to stitching. Then years go by and you discover youtube tutorials and you think "eh, I know what I'm doing" but you decide to see what's out there. And the tricks and shortcuts just blow your mind. I wish I had found these decades ago, thank you! Never stop learning, folks! I had figured out the basic loop start when you're working two same-color strands but never learned the loop finish. And the fact that you include single strand and blended---THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING! I work on a stand and flipping over my work was the biggest pain, so many unnecessary movements. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Who would have thought I would learn something new after 50+ years of stitching 😱. I had never heard of a loop finish. Thanks for teaching me something new.
I learned the loop stitch from this video, about 10 months ago. It truly astonished me to learn a new cross stitching technique after stitching for over 40 years! Now I'm here to learn the finishing techniques! I noticed that you do your first stitch in the cross stitch backwards from how I do it. Then, I suddenly knew why! You live in Australia where many things are reversed compared to the way things are here, near Seattle, Washington, USA! Your toilets swirl opposite from ours, you have Christmas in the summer, etc. That must be the reason for doing your stitch so different from the way I do it! Lol, lmao!
Thank you so much for showing the loop method. I'm starting cross stitch again after about 30 years and I haven't heard of this before. IT's going to be a game changer. Thank you!
Thanks so much. I knew the loop start and the loop finish, which means that I never have to waste time turning my work over. Great! But I understood that you couldn’t use the loop start with one thread, and you blew that out of the water!! What a simple method!! I have never used an uneven thread count, but I am now prepared!! Genious!!
I'm going to give this a try. I'm 32 and have been cross sourcing since I was 8. My ex stepmom taught me but she taught me to run my thread behind the stitching on the back which not only makes the piece bulky, but it has a tendency to bunch the fabric or loosen stitches. Definitely worth it if it means cleaner work.
I have been cross stitching for 40 years; wish I had known about this long ago! Won’t go back to the old way! Makes my project go so much faster. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Holy smokes this is incredible! Thank you thank you! I've just started my first *slightly* ambitious work with different colours in the same stitch and have been thinking there must be a better way! And there is! Genius. Thanks again 🎉🎉🎉
I am a beginner and was looking for some way to keep my project less bulky. Love this method. Thank you for making this video. Please keep sharing your tips.
Brilliant video. Thank you for such a clear explanation. I will definitely use this method to help conserve thread but also help keep the back tidy. Thanks again
These techniques are truly amazing! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I can’t wait to try this all out, it will make my stitching even more enjoyable wow.
Thank you so much. Like your other fans said, no one else has shown a loop finish! Brilliant. I will be using both with pin stitch finish on my new piece. So neat. What else can you share with us? 😊
Wow. Thanks so much for sharing. I am new to cross stitch and knew about loop start but not finish. Hi from the Gold Coast. Love your beautiful voice and manner, keep making videos.
It is great. I live for tips and tricks videos!!!!! Oh I adore that Aida....gonna have to get out some dye. I have been stitchign for 60 years and I have NEVER seen this... amazing. I do pin stitches, but not the loops to finish. amazing
Love this loop style. I’ve been cross stitching for about 40 years and stopped when I got cancer in my 40’s and just recently picked up again. All these tips have shortened my time and I’m able to accomplish a lot more. Thank you and keep up the good work and thanks for starting the tutorial right away.
I knew how to loop start but not loop finish. OMG you have just changed my life with the loop finish. It drives me nuts turning my work and going underneath the stitches. Thank you so much, this is amazing!!!!!
Oh man a new way to finish. Thank you. I do the double strand loop start but the single strand loop start is new to me. I get to play around and learn something new this week. Thank you for the tutorial.
Wow! I can’t believe this is your first video! Your explanations were clear, concise and very easy to understand and follow! Great job. I’ll be looking for more from you!
This is amazing! I've used the loop start for ages (though I would do it on the back - love the idea of being able to do it on the front).. but the loop ending.. what a revelation! Thanks so much!
This is amazeballs! 😄 First year of stitching and Ive used the flip the work and bury thread under a couple of stitches - but haven't liked that procedure. Especially if you have the work on a stand! Brilliant! 😊
Love love love this! I have started using variegated floss so no loop and some single ply threads but when I heard about loop finish for the first time yours was the first I came to. I have watched three times in two days already! I have also cross stitched and embroidered since the seventies!, I only heard traffic noise once and then only because I was listening for it the third watch. It does not bother me at all like pet and people noises
This is going to completely change my stitching experience! Thankyou so much! Im about to move to a scroll stand and it will be so lovely no to weave stitches through - way less bulkand such a time saver!
When I tried it, it totally changed how I worked and made my stitching with a frame so much more comfortable. I’m so glad you’ve found it helpful and thank you for taking the time to comment.
You have completely BLOWN my mind with that loop finish. Thank you thank you thank you! That's gonna be a game changer for my stitching in the new year :-) Happy new year!
Thank you for the new technique! I love the idea of finishing with a loop! And love the idea of doing it with a single strand. Would love to see your WIP parade!
Very clear explanation. I love loop start and have found it wonderfully neat and convenient both over the years, but I’m not really understanding why one would bother with a loop finish as you still have to anchor the end in some other way. Is there some advantage to it, maybe neatness of how the threads sit or something?
Great video!! Audio was a bit too 👎🏻 then too 👍🏻... lol, but great content and great video quality! The ZOOM was perfect to see what you were doing! Thanks so much for sharing! You have a new subscriber!!
This is fabulous! I will apply this method from now on as I, too, do not like turning my work over. Would you use this method on HAEDs, etc.? I would think it is very secure. Thanks so much! 😀
I use this with my HAEDSand it has eliminated so much bulk from the back. With care, you can split a fibre of your evenweave to do the pin stitch finish. just plan ahead so you’re not going to put a pin stitch of a dark thread where a light thread will go. 😜
This is a game changer! I'm doing. Piece with tons of confetti and the pin stitches are life savers. Question though, how do they hold up when washed? I've never washed my pieces before but I split juice on this one so I have to

I have been stitching for over 20 years, and never thought of how to do a loop finish!! Thank you!
I’ve been using the loop start for years, but hadn’t even heard of the loop finish! I shall definitely be using this in future!

You’re so welcome! Thank you for such kindness.
You seem to know my life very well! When I learned recently about the loop start, it completely blew my mind!
I’ve been cross stitching for almost 40 years, just learned the loop start about 4 years ago. Total game changer. Can’t wait to see the loop finish.
Who would have thought I would learn something new after 50+ years of stitching 😱.
I had never heard of a loop finish. Thanks for teaching me something new.
OK - I am sitting here with my chin on the floor!! This is going to make my cross stitching life SO MUCH EASIER!! Thank You!!

haha - upside down! LOL! It just works better for me that way, and you could flip it around any way to suit you. :D
Thank you so much for showing the loop method. I'm starting cross stitch again after about 30 years and I haven't heard of this before. IT's going to be a game changer. Thank you!
I was today years old when I discovered how to loop start and pin stitch 😂 how did I not know this is a thing!?

Love this. I must try it.
This is so amazing! Thank you for sharing xxx
I love this!!! Thank you
So do you do a loop finish and a pin stitch to secure each thread? If so why the loop finish as well, and not just the pin? Xx
The loop is what secures. You probably don’t need the pin stitch. I prefer to have the security of the pin stitch.
Really appreciate your sharing. Am just terrible in pinning.
This is fabulous! I will apply this method from now on as I, too, do not like turning my work over. Would you use this method on HAEDs, etc.? I would think it is very secure. Thanks so much! 😀
