    Thanks Mary Rose for showing us your gridding technique. I found it interesting how you remove your grid lines as your stitching. Wishing your a happy New Year looking forward to your stitching adventures.

      😁🦋 Thankyou so much for your company. Removing grid lines as you go does have its draw backs if the piece has been left for a while~ hence the necessity to develop the plan B scaffolding technique! lol. But if I am swinging along and the stitching is ongoing for that particular piece, I do tend to remove them as I go. May you have a great New Year with plenty of quality stitching time xx:):)🌹

    I usually use a grime guard and I sew a button on the grime guard and use it to indicate the top of the project. I do this because I am always forgetting to mark the top ! HA I am going to give this a whirl. I grid, but not like this.....

      🦋😁 Hi suzy, Thankyou so much for your company. That is a very good idea about marking direction on your grime guard. I hope that you find the gridding style that suits you. Happy Stitching 2020! xx:):)🌹

    Thanks so much for sharing your technique. I'm new to full coverage cross stitch and have been struggling with keeping count so now I will grid the piece and hopefully have more success.

      🦋😁 Hi Marion, I am so glad to hear that you are going to give gridding a go. It does take time at the beginning to set the piece up. It usually takes me a whole day if it is a large piece; but I think it saves hours of counting and frogging in the long run. I know that speaking for myself I would have given up full coverage a long time ago without it as I can’t count for toffee. I am in awe of stitchers who hold up full coverage with no gridding and they have stitches that are extreme cross country all over the place! Astounding. Mine would definitely be in the wrong place. There is also security in the knowledge that even before you begin stitching, your piece will fit on the fabric. I have seen some heartbreaking situations from the wrong size fabric. Anyway I think I have rambled on too long to someone who most likely knows already what I have just put here! Have a wonderful 2020 and all the best with your stitching. xx:):)🌹

      stitchblisscorner yes, it has been quite frustrating to get going on it but I’m keen to give this a try and I’m sure it will be worth the extra time and effort. Thanks again and happy stitching 😊

      😁🦋 Thanks Lina, I noticed on my last row of gridding I made an error along the centre line lol. I would have picked it up the next row down though! I hope you have a great 2020, and that this year brings you particular joy in your stitching xx:):)🌹

    Hi Mary Rose - very interesting. I like the short corner posts your method produces. I’m more lazy I’m afraid and just use pre-gridded fabric. 😊 I do have a piece that I’ve started that isn’t on pre-gridded fabric that I may try small sections as I go. I think this will work. Thanks for sharing - I think I’ve caught up! Take care, be well and happy stitching 🧵

    • @stitchblisscorner
      @stitchblisscorner  4 роки тому

      🦋😁 Small sections of gridding sounds like a good plan to me. You can see how you go with it. Doing your own gridding is not for everyone that’s for sure. I think a lot of stitchers just want to pick up the needle and get on with it, which is fully understandable. They can usually fudge it if it goes wrong and nobody would know except themselves; and if they are happy with that, why not!? Have a good week xx:):)🌹

    Hi Mary Rose, Good to see how you grid your fabric. I have some large designs such as Dimensions and this was really useful. Hope 2020 is a good year for you and stitching too. Xx

    I really like this gridding. I’m gonna try it on my next project. Is there a reason you stitch across the fabric rather than continuing the stitch in its vertical line up?

    • @stitchblisscorner
      @stitchblisscorner  8 місяців тому

      🦋 Hi Julia, I hope you do well with this gridding style. I think that the vertical that you suggested would go well. I didn’t really think about it I have to say! I wish you every success with your next piece. xx:):)🌹

    Mary Rose-after your latest video, I went to watch your videos #93 and #114. Thx for your work on those. I use even weave almost always. Have never done full coverage really. I suppose you’d.grid even weave as well??? And if not full coverage, do you still grid? Thx again for this video. Would love to try all of this.

      🦋 Thankyou very much for joining me and for sharing. I must say that I grid everything, large or small, because I have never been good at counting. I once stitched a piece on 28 count evenweave and found that I had to use a thicker woollen thread for my gridding instead of my usual cotton, because the thinner thread tended to slip under the fabric. Happy Stitching! xx:):)🌹

      Thx very, very much. I’m gonna have to attempt this. I’ve probably got you beat on the counting topic. I’m so bad at it. Thx again!

    I am SO excited to find a gridding tutorial that offers the possibility of gridding in only ONE direction, and not TWO! Gridding both horizontally and vertically takes a GREAT deal of time. THANK YOU Ever so much for posting your unique way of gridding!
    I have a question though, because of the stitching line no longer being straight and having a "jig-jag" at every 10 squares. - I can see doing this with Sulky Slivers red metallic - but wondered how smoothly it goes when removing this After stitching everything? Would the Easy Guide thread be more easily removed?
    I'm also considering purchasing the Easy Guideline thread that is more like fishing line, but wondered how well it behaves at the grid junctures when changing directions and then how smoothly it goes to remove it AFTER stitching the piece? Would the Sulky Slivers be more flexible?
    I am going blind just trying to count 5 squares on 28 count linen or evenweave!

    • @stitchblisscorner
      @stitchblisscorner  4 роки тому +1

      🦋😁 Hi there, I only ever use cotton thread to grid and I usually pull the gridding threads out as I cross stitch. It is easy to do that, because the remaining grids above or below can be used for orientation if needed. I tried to use Sulky thread once, but it curled around on itself as I tried to place the grids in such a maddening way I abandoned it and went back to my usual method. I have seen that those who persist with the inconvenience of putting their grids in with Sulky say that it is worth it at the end because the grids come out very easily. I am sorry, but I haven’t ever used any easyguide threads at all so I cannot help you with any advice. Harlequin bought be some gridding pens, and I have not even tried them out! I wish you all the very best with your stitching adventures. xx:):)🌹

      @@stitchblisscornerYou address so kind to respond to such an old thread! I just received the Easy -Count guideline thread and am going to try it. Since it is like fishing line and can't be pierced, I can leave it in place and stitch over it without having to add the extra scaffolding stitching, and it should pull out more smoothly. We will see! One of the you-tubers commented that she found that fishing line left white markings on her black fabric.

    ? When one stitches block by block, doesn’t it look noticeably blockey in the end? Made up that word, obviously!

    • @stitchblisscorner
      @stitchblisscorner  24 дні тому

      🦋 Hi there cynthia, I usually stitch where that colour thread takes me ~ cross country if you will, so the block thing usually does not occur when I stitch. Even so, there have been occasions where I have had the block effect and I think it may well be due more to the construction of fabric used than anything else. Even if you do get the blocky, I find in natural light and on the wall, it is not very noticeable to the average person looking at it. When all is said and done, it is stitching and it is always going to do what it is going to do in the end! Always unique to you as the stitcher and more often than not a “thing of beauty and a joy forever,” as the poet John Keats would have said! Happy Stitching! xx:):)🌹
