Starlings around us sing the tune of an old home-phone ringing, like ghosts of the recent past. Fascinating creatures for sure, these animals are masters of mimicry.
Starlings around me have never seemed very adventurous, but recently I heard one repeating the descending-whistle-bomb-drop noise like from a WWII movie (or game?), over and over!
I like how they're not repetitive and make a bunch of cool sounds, How many? Who knows? 🤷♂️ I've tried listening for the loop to start over and it's just endless. There might be a few repeats but it's mostly different. 😊

What a SONG!!! I've raised five starlings over the years and they make the BEST companions. I miss that big singing. My current starling, Dart, doesn't sing like that, nor does he talk much. I don't know why because my other four sang like crazy and three of them had large vocabularies. I think he had a bad start in life. I adopted him at an older age than my other starlings, and he had a broken wing. He's ten years old now and nearly blind, but he's having a good life, full of mealworms, apples, blueberries and other treats. I love him so much. And I love starlings!!! Yours is a special one!
@@ruckboger He is! And he brings such joy with his funny personality. When you see films of big starling murmurations in the sky, it's mind blowing to stop and think that each of those birds has a unique personality.
There’s one that sits on my neighbour’s chimney and goes through his whole repertoire. Car alarms sounds, other birds mimicry. He’s amazing. I sit listening to him for ages.
Beautiful. And talented. I have a family of starlings living up under the roof of my exterior storage. They are so fascinating to watch and listen to. I’ve heard them mimic everything from grackles to Canadian geese to cats to police sirens. It breaks my heart that so many consider them pests.
I used to hate really dislike them because back in the days before clothes driers, I'd hang out a whole line of clothes only to have them covered in starling poop from the big oak tree! But I've forgiven them!
Wonderful, remarkable performance. Aside from mimicry talents, starlings have another superpower: flying in synchronized murmurations of 1000s of birds.
This little baby warms my heart whenever I hear him! What a wonderful person you are to have saved him! I believe you two were destined to be together! I just cannot express my joy! Thank you and May the Lord Bless you!🙏

Wow. You are so fortunate to have The Mouth sing to you. Incredible vocalizations beyond anything I expected. I have Starlings in my local park and they love my 12 grain bread. I have heard them sing but not like The Mouth. So many different songs and the pitches get so high its just mind boggling. That is a special bird. I also have Mocking birds at the local park and they are phenomenal but Mouths repertoire is fabulous and enchanting. Thank you for sharing with us this incredible singing bird.
I have never known Sterlings are songbirds and able to imitate sounds around them until one day when I stood under a tree in the neighborhood park and heard these magnificent bird songs I looked up and saw it was the Sterling products the melodies. These birds are really special in this world.

What an extraordinary little bird, just fascinating how he mimics every sound so perfectly. You did a fine job raising him, brava! His song is so melodious and creative, what a smart chap. He feels so secure sitting on your arm, singing his fine aria, oh my. Just adorable. Wish I had a bird, I love them. I feed all my outdoor birds and squirrels and they have phenomenal musical choruses all day. I can tell when the Golden Orioles come to drink from the Hummingbird feeder as they have a distinctive call. So do the Jays. The finches are the sweetest with their trills and tweets and chirps. The cowbirds sound a bit like this starling. I really enjoyed listening to this sweet bird, he is adorable. fyi - I think his top beak may need some filing down. If you watch the video, you see its a bit longer than bottom. Might need a trim.
That bird is very happy and content singing it's little heart out. Debbie and I took care of six and you just can't believe how many bugs they can eat and all kinds from sunup to sundown! They just loved eating Japanese Beatles. Would take the to the roses and they would keep eating them till none were left and looking for more and more. Would put them down on the grass and they would form a line eating every bug in sight!!! Love those birds❤️ Hated to see them fly away when they got big. They stopped by twice and then went to join the flock.
